A pair of vandals launched an attack on Washington Square Park’s famed arch early Monday—tossing balloons filled with red paint at its two statues dedicated to George Washington. The two suspects—a woman dressed in all white with a white bow in her hair and a man in a black shirt and black shorts—fled on Citi Bikes, law enforcement sources said, noting there was surveillance video of the 3:20 a.m. incident.(Snip) The vandals also used white spray paint to draw the outlines of 24 people’s bodies around the park’s fountain—then tossed red balloons at their bodies, mainly their heads,

Comments:

The Founders are highly problematic, especially as the government school-educated masses agree that the criterion for cancellation and removal is slave ownership. In for a penny, in for a pound, and as usual, the police were nowhere to be found.

Im still waiting for the demands to remove Robert Byrd. Now that was a bonified racist. How about just canceling anyone born before 1980 and every reference to any civilization predating the civil rights legislation.

There should be cameras installed on or around all the statues. Take their photo. Catch them and make it a federal crime with no bail and a 3-5 year sentence.

In the last decade, diagnosis of “gender dysphoria”—severe discomfort in one’s biological sex—has exploded across the West. Between 2016 and 2017, the number of gender surgeries for natal females in the US quadrupled; in the UK, the rates of gender dysphoria for teenage girls are up 4,400 percent over the previous decade.(Snip) Intrigued by the statistical unlikelihood, Littman began to study the phenomenon and, in 2018, published the results. She hypothesized that transgender identification had become one more peer contagion among adolescent females. The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday struck down a Louisiana law regulating abortion clinics, reasserting a commitment to abortion rights over fierce opposition from dissenting conservative justices in the first big abortion case of the Trump era. Chief Justice John Roberts joined with his four more liberal colleagues in ruling that the law requiring doctors who perform abortions have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals violates the abortion right the court first announced in the landmark Roe v. Wade decision in 1973. In two previous abortion cases, Roberts had favored restrictions. The Louisiana law is virtually identical to one in Texas that the court struck down in 2016.

Decisions on abortion and separation of powers demonstrate how good ideas about the law become empty words on a page. T here is a saying — perhaps as old as Aristotle — that courage is the first virtue, because it makes all the others possible. We usually associate courage (or its absence) with leadership by elected officials: There are times when it is hard to stand up for your principles, to stand against your own party, or both. From judges, we are told, the important thing is to follow, not to lead: to have the ascetic self-discipline to apply the Constitution and laws as written,

Conservatives were outraged eight years ago when Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the liberals on the court to uphold Obamacare's individual mandate. His swing almost singlehandedly saved the Affordable Care Act. A few years removed and he made a few better decisions, somewhat appeasing conservatives. The court didn't say that Trump couldn't reverse the program, but that his legal reasoning wasn't up to par.

Mark and Patricia McCloskey — who went viral after brandishing an AR-15-style rifle and a silver-colored handgun, respectively — were the only ones to lodge a police report over Sunday’s confrontation, insisting they were “victims” of threatening trespassers who entered a gated community, the St. Louis American noted. But the husband-and-wife lawyers are being probed by police and prosecutors for possible threats against the crowd, authorities announced Monday.
