The Supreme Court is allowing nationwide enforcement of a new Trump administration rule that prevents most Central American immigrants from seeking asylum in the United States. The justices’ order late Wednesday temporarily undoes a lower-court ruling that had blocked the new asylum policy in some states along the southern border. The policy is meant to deny asylum to anyone who passes through another country on the way to the U.S. without seeking protection there. Most people crossing the southern border are Central Americans fleeing violence and poverty. They are largely ineligible under the new rule, as are asylum seekers from Africa, Asia and South America who arrive regularly at the southern border.

One of the saddest and most frustrating things about the aftermath of the sexual revolution is the heights of cognitive dissonance our society engages in about its effects. This cognitive dissonance is not just in evidence among the left, although certainly their application of, to take one example, abortion is increasingly rabid and eerie. Memorials are multidimensional, dichotomous spaces. They exist somewhere between presence and memory. They are built for the collective and for those personally affected. They are places for reflection and observation; for reckoning, for grieving, and for peaceful acceptance. They are tourist destinations and graveyards. The filmmaker Sara Newens captures these tensions in Footprint, her evocative observational portrait of the 9/11 Memorial. The short documentary spends 24 hours at the former Ground Zero, where on September 11, 2001, 2,606 people lost their lives when the World Trade Center towers were struck by two planes (390 others died at the Pentagon and in the four aircraft involved in the terror attacks).

How did we fall from a crest of patriotic spirit in 2001 to the demoralization of 2019? The main culprit is the Republican Establishment. U.S. District Court Judge Jon Tigar of San Francisco has ordered a nationwide injunction on the policy, which would require immigrants to seek asylum in the first country that they entered after leaving their home countries. However, the Trump Administration requested a stay on the injunction, which was ultimately granted by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. BOSTON—Beto O’Rourke last week stopped here for beers. He wasn’t hunting big-dollar donors or votes in a state with a meaningful primary. He instead wanted to stand on a box in the middle of a pub and just let it rip. So that’s what he did. The crowd was young, diverse and notably not reaching to write checks, but it was plenty ready to hear his profane riff on his proposed gun buybacks. He downed a Ricochet IPA while answering questions and then took his place in the picture line and ordered another beer. Two women joined him in raising their pints. “Salud,” he said.

Contrary to the punchlines of late-night comics, the attack that Rand Paul suffered back in 2017 when his neighbor tackled him over landscaping disagreements was not funny at all. The crime left Paul with major complications including recurring bouts of pneumonia after damage to his lungs, and multiple surgeries including a partial lung removal and corrective surgery on a hernia. It isn’t a stretch to say that Senator Paul could have died. The attack was severe and the damage has been long-lasting.

Every September, Americans take time on the anniversary of 9/11 to share their memories of that fateful day, recall how they first learned the news and pay tribute to the heroes who answered the unexpected call of duty. As a nation we remember the first responders who ran into the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. (Snip)On this year’s anniversary, one relatively unsung 9/11 story deserves retelling. It is the story of ordinary citizens who risked their lives to save more than a half-million people trapped at the southern tip of lower Manhattan —

FBI Director Christopher Wray has tried to stay out of the public eye, and while he does not have liar and leaker James Comey’s flair for flamboyant, self-serving press conferences, and doesn’t have his fingerprints all over the Russian collusion hoax and FISAgate, he still is a D.C. swamp rat working behind the scenes to protect his deep-state cronies.    Headline corrected.

The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals -- long a liberal bastion that has been aggressively reshaped into a more moderate court by the Trump administration -- handed the president a major win late Monday, lifting a nationwide injunction on his asylum policy. Obama-appointed U.S. District Judge Jon Tigar in California on Monday had reinstated a nationwide halt on the Trump administration's plan to prevent most migrants from seeking asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border, if they first crossed through another country on the way. But in an administrative order first obtained by Politico, the 9th Circuit rolled Tigar's ruling right back, saying it should only apply

In a major victory for both President Trump and national Republicans, North Carolina GOP state Sen. Dan Bishop was projected to win a fiercely contested special U.S. House election for the 9th District that was widely seen as a bellwether for the president's chances in the 2020 election. And another Republican House candidate, Greg Murphy, decisively won a separate special election in North Carolina's more solidly GOP-leaning 3rd District earlier Tuesday evening -- frustrating Democrats who spent millions trying to make a splash in the state. Even Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) Chairwoman Cheri Bustos acknowledged that the president contributed to Bishop's win,
