Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch said he believes that the American people should not want him or his colleagues to rule the country, but should rather have the "battle of ideas" play out in the political arena.
"We wrote a constitution. We put down what we wanted to put down in it. We can amend it when we wish. And it is not up to nine people to tell 330 million Americans how to live," Gorsuch said in an extended interview with CNN Tuesday.
"Do you really want me to rule the country?" he asked.
Gorsuch, 52, said America is a "raucous republic"

Of course CNN doesn't want HIM to run the country; they want Ginsburg, Kagan and Sotomayor doing that.

Sorry, Mr. Gorsuch, but the CNN audience, and the liberal/progressive left want at least 5 liberal/progressives to rule from the bench, and dictate what the 330 million can do.
It's been part of their plan all along, and why they all talk about how "our way of life" will cease if there are 4 more years of Trump (or any Republican).
They know they won't have the Supreme Court to parcel out the parts of the job of Congress they don't want, or like to do, or have the group of liberal Federal judges to decide things that stop the actions of both Congress and the President, when the liberal/progressives don't like something.

I am so thankful that someone as articulate and clear-thinking as Gorsuch is on the Supreme Court.
Judicial activism cuts the people out of the decision making a destroys a government of the people, by the people and for the people by replacing it with the opinions, whims and feelings of a few judges.
Constitutional amendments take time but the people, through their representatives in Congress and state legislatures, have decision-making authority and power.
If prohibition is important enough to warrant TWO Constitutional amendments (one to impose it and one to revoke it), then today's issues surely should warrant an amendment to reach consensus.
Liberals are scared to death that they will be denied their avenue to impose their policies through judicial activism and will instead need to convince a majority of legislators that their ideas deserve the vote required to pass laws or Constitutional Amendments.

On this "never forget" 18th anniversary of 9/11/2001:
Let us also "never forget" the cautions of our Founding Fathers - in this particular case Alexander Hamilton.
If the Constitution is what judges or justices say it is: then we are no longer a republic, but a black-robed oligarchy.

You can amend the Constitution when you wish?? I worry about that. " It is not up to nine people to tell 330 million people how to live." We are agreed on that. Here's a hint: Stick with President Trump. Listen to him and know that the American people are with him. Do the Right Thing for America and for the World! Crazy Muslims and Democrat Communists are not good!!

I've not been a huge fan of Gorsuch so far, but I'm really liking this attitude.

Fortunately, #6, it is still a laborious process to amend our Constitution. The really dangerous thing has been the propensity for some people, okay, it's Dems, to agitate for political activism in the Courts in order to get what they want but failed to get it legislatively.
POTUS, our God-send President, has been nominating and McConnell has been accomplishing seating, Conservative, pro-Constitution judges, on all Federal benches. And hubby (a trial lawyer) and I watched a clip of AG Barr expressly stating that the role of the Courts is not legislative.
I sure wish those "never Trumpers" would get over themselves. They've had their heads tucked in between their legs for too long.

Wise latinas know best, do they not? I've heard old jewish women are full of wisdom, as well. What do old White men know? Apparently how to find emanations and penumbras that imply additional rights in the Constitution... if left to me, the emanations and penumbras that I would find would leave no leftists alive.

I agree with Gorsuch. The local, state, and federal governments shouldn't dictate our lives either. Each entity has its hands in our pockets coming and going. Why are they so involved in our lives. It's the taxes (minus leftists just wanting to run and own everything). Get rid of 80% of the taxes we pay, and we can say bye-bye to government intrusion in our lives. A business license is nothing but a local tax on business. Don't get me started on the rip off business license for small business owners like writers and editors. Please.

What I would like to see, is the Court take a serious stand on the activist Obama judiciary and maybe yank the leash hard to put them in their place. He says he doesn't want to rule the nation, well what does he think Obama's appointees are doing when they hamstring Trump with the most unconstitutional of rulings?
Gorsuch is burying his head in the sand, and he needs to get himself a clue. Don't get me wrong, I like the guy. But if he thinks that we aren't being ruled by activist black robe wearing tyrants, he is absolutely clueless.
