John Bolton’s Art Of The Non-Deal

What it takes to survive for long in the Trump White House would fill a tome that may command a seven-figure advance for whoever ends up being qualified to write it. But whatever now-ex National Security Adviser John Bolton ends up writing might solve an even more perplexing mystery: What is really at the heart of this president’s foreign policy? It cannot be denied that Donald Trump is a hawk, despite his rhetoric sometimes indicating otherwise. He backed large increases in Pentagon spending during his first two years and this year focused on out-maneuvering the Democrats’ majority in the House on federal budget caps to get another increase for fiscal 2020,

Keeping a strong military prevents war. Trump is no hawk and opening communications is a good thing. This is total drivel.

I also believe the President understands what war means. You go into it to defeat the enemy. Period. It is not a nation or democracy building endeavor. It is breaking things and killing people. While it is clear the President does not want innocent civilians killed and maimed, he also realizes that war is hell and sometimes needed. Bring our troops home from these endless wars. If we are not willing to do what is necessary to win, then get out. Warfare is changing with new technological advances. Let’s make our military the strongest and best in the world and use it only when we are committed to our victory and the enemy’s defeat. Enough pandering to the never satisfied hawks. We cannot allow the military industrial complex drive our decisions.

I think Trump's foreign policy is very clear. Trump has told us with his actions, and tweets it every day. Trump has said we have spent $9 trillion in the Middle East and wants that drain stopped, and the money spent in the USA. I hope this makes things clear for the editorial board in this article.

President Trump is a hawk like I am a frog ( that can write a comment ); An absolute garbage article. A HAWK would be destroying our enemies because they have every intention of destroying the USA. The President makes every effort to NEGOTIATE with our adversaries , which is virtually impossible to do because they are EVIL and have no intention of being peaceful.

The writers worry that Trump (unlike tough-guy Bolton) "might even be prone to wishful thinking that could lead to an unwillingness to walk away from a flawed deal". Have they been paying attention? His record suggests just the opposite. Remember Hanoi? Been watching the China trade talks? Trump will create the opportunity for a deal to be made, and pursue it relentlessly, but he is also famously patient about waiting for the right deal to come together. As he always says, "We'll see what happens."

Kamala Harris has always been known for her lean and hungry, pushy, grabby, ambition, which includes a willingness to sleep her way to the top to get what she wants. Her political start began as a social mountaineer with San Francisco's old-money Pacific Heights set dating from her 20s and then just moved onward and upward. That's not sitting well with California's lizardy old-money senior Senator, Dianne Feinstein, who knows that establishment well. And so, she's taking some action, as Fox News reports: According to reports, Feinstein, the senior senator from the Golden State, will throw a fundraiser next month

Illinois clearly is the pioneer in the not-yet-existent deceased rights movement, which I have heard is having trouble with turnout for its rallies. But if the dead ever do rise from their graves in a zombie apocalypse, as so often dramatized on cable television, they will no doubt demand that other states follow the lead of Illinois. They're not dead, they're a constituency: Illinois Policy reveals that the state has spent $4.6 million on Medicaid for dead people:

Here's something we can agree with the Democratic Party base on: Presidential candidate Julian Castro is loathesome. According to Nate Silver's outfit, Five Thirty Eight, Castro was the big loser of the third Democratic debate, based on his sneakily age-ist and downright dishonest attack on Joe Biden. Castro lost big points on favorability and the willingness of even left-wing voters to vote for him, according to Five Thirty Eight: So after Ipsos polled voters before and after the debate, we calculated the change in candidates’ net favorability (favorable rating minus unfavorable rating).

Democratic debates are always contests to determine which candidate is the most contemptible. Based on his dishonest behavior in debate three, you could argue that Julian Castro, way down at the bottom end of the debate stage, took that 'honor.' According to an excellent, level-headed analysis by Aaron Blake in the Washington Post: The former Housing and Urban Development secretary clearly came ready to go at this debate, and he went hard at Biden. But his biggest optical win didn’t have substance to back it up. He accused Biden of saying his plan would not automatically enroll people in his public health care option. When Biden denied it, Castro was apoplectic.

From the first minute of last night’s truly intolerable Democratic debate, a candidate for the world’s most powerful office started things rolling downhill with a startling assertion about last month’s horrific shootings in El Paso: “22 people were killed, dozens more grievously injured by a man … inspired to kill by our president.” (Emphasis added) Later in the same debate, a sitting U.S. Senator from the nation’s largest state added the following over-the-top observation about these vile murders: “People asked me … ‘do you think Trump is responsible for what happened?’ And I said, ‘Well, look, I mean, obviously, he didn’t pull the trigger. But he’s certainly been tweeting out the ammunition.’”

A couple weeks ago, a medical fellow at Emory University posted a tweet after three patients came in with Groupon coupons for chest CT scans. In the space of one Twitter post, she goes from shock that anyone would use a coupon for a medical test, to realizing the patients got a really good deal, and that the cost was likely less than it would have been had they used insurance. Then she concludes by saying, “US healthcare is bonkers.” Bonkers is right. But not for the reason Dr. Nicole Herbst probably thinks. What’s bonkers about the nation’s health care system isn’t that some people are using coupons for medical tests.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg criticized some gun owners on Friday, suggesting it was sad that their “sense of manhood” depended on owning a gun. In an interview with TMZ Live on Friday, Buttigieg was asked about the Twitter feud between former Congressman Beto O’Rourke and Texas Republican Representative Briscoe Cain. After O’Rourke told gun owners that “Hell, yes, we’re gonna take your AR-15″ during the Democrat debate on Thursday, Cain dared Beto O’Rourke on Twitter to come and take his AR-15. Buttigieg agreed with O’Rourke that Cain’s comment on Twitter was a “death threat,” and the South Bend mayor admonished Cain for failing to have a more intelligent conversation about gun issues.

Dobbs, a vocal backer of Trump, referred to the GOP senator as a "never Trumper and RINO" in a segment Friday night. He began the segment by touting Trump's electoral chances in 2020 as well as predictions that there won't be a recession next year.
