With the latest news that Iran shot down a United States Navy drone, it shows that President Trump was right all along. The Iranian regime cannot be trusted, and appeasement was never a practical or realistic solution. When President Trump announced the American withdrawal from the nuclear deal last year, his political opponents loudly criticized his strategy, arguing that the agreement signed under President Obama was the only way to contain Iranian nuclear ambitions. Since then, however, Iran has demonstrated that the skepticism that President Trump has held of the appeasement policy of his predecessor was in fact entirely justified.

House Democrats passed an appropriations bill Wednesday that includes a measure that would block Donald Trump from using the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force to go to war with Iran as tensions with Tehran continue to rise. The 11-line measure, approved as part of a nearly $1 trillion appropriations bill that includes funding for the military, health programs and the Energy Department, will likely be struck down in the Republican-controlled Senate. It's reasonable to anticipate that Mitch McConnell, the Senate Majority Leader, would not send the version of this bill to the president's desk – especially since it takes away power from the presidency.

A police officer in Sacramento, Calif., died late Wednesday hours after a suspect opened fire on her and other officers while responding to a domestic violence call. Police later identified the slain officer as 26-year-old Tara O'Sullivan. There were no other injuries reported. Several officers were on a domestic disturbance call, helping a woman collect her belongings and leave a home on Redwood Avenue near Edgewater, when the officer was wounded, Sgt. Vance Chandler said. Police were swarming backyards in search of a suspect and warning residents to stay inside. Multiple gunshots were reportedly heard.

Assisted suicide remains an emotional subject, of course, at least among healthy people who are not living with the constant pain and doomed future of a fatal illness. [Snip] Many still believe a dying patient’s wishes to stop the pain run against ethical and religious beliefs since science can now prolong life, often beyond the will to live it. Even so

A U.S. high-altitude drone was shot down Thursday by an Iranian surface-to-air missile over the Strait of Hormuz amid heightened tensions in the region after last week’s attacks on two oil tankers, a source told Fox News. The U.S. Navy’s MQ-4C drone, , which has the same wingspan as a Boeing 737, was over international airspace at the time and about 17 miles from Iran, the source said. Capt. Bill Urban, a U.S. Central Command spokesman, declined to comment on the reported attack when reached by the AP, but he said no drone was over Iranian territory. IRNA news agency, the country’s state-run news arm, identified the drone as an RQ-4

As a right-wing alumna of far-left Oberlin College, I have four words for the administration in response to last week’s ground-breaking $11 million jury verdict in the defaming of humble Gibson’s Bakery: You had it coming. I have five more words for Oberlin as arrogant college officials continue their obstinate war on the Gibson family even after the much-deserved courtroom defeat: You still don't get it.
