You may have suspected this was coming, ever since the last time you banged your knee on the airplane seat in front of you.
Airlines have been reducing the space between rows of seats in order to squeeze in a few more rows of seats and max the profits per flight. As a reward, they’ve also raised fares. You don’t mind do you? Now, comes a daring new concept in air travel comfort, the airplane saddle. This week at the Paris Air Show Avio Interior unveiled

I'll never fly on a commercial jet again. And not just because of being crammed in there like a can of sardines.

I had to fly my whole career. Now, I don't have to fly and I don't. Nowhere I need to go on an airplane. I tired of the cattle-car treatment, the ridiculous TSA people, and the security that was just politically correct- not truly security. Statistics may show that airline travel is safer than automobile travel, but that is statistics. In an automobile crash you have a decent chance of survival. In an airplane crash you have, essentially, none unless you are already on or very near the ground already.
I figured that, after 40 years of flying commercial, I was living on borrowed time! The first 20 years were much better than the last 20 years!

I switched to business or first a few years ago and that is a huge improvement
after a lifetime of cheap seats.

Wonder why there are no class action law suits against the TSA. This is a disgusting organization and they seem to go out of their way to be so. Right now, there is no one I love enough to get on a plane and go visit.

If I have to fly, I'll leave from a small city if possible. Even if it means a changeover. It's a lot easier.

If I can drive there in a day, thats what I do. I would rather drive 800 miles than fly. For all of the reasons listed.

"Airplane saddles"?? And just how do you fit an FAA approved carseat or a young child into one of these stupid contraptions. Why not just hang us up like sides of beef. Then they really could cram that plane full.

One of the best things about not working anymore is never having to deal with the commercial airline industry again. Flying coach has become a sub-human experience, and it keeps getting worse. Human beings are not meant to be sandwiched into a metal tube like sardines with your knees in your chin and not able to move for hours on end. Not to mention all the other hassles like getting to the airport, parking, security lines, and the cattle-herding in and out of the plane. They have a terrible product and they know it; unfortunately a lot of people have no choice but to fly commercial, especially business travelers. I put in my time and I'm done with them!

Smaller seats and less leg room. What’s going to happen to all the obese and morbidly obese who can’t fit into seats or scoot across the row of seats now? Can’t you just see a 400 pound glutton straddling one of those saddles?

Hopefully no airline is stupid enough to get these.
Or any passengers stupid enough to pay even $5 for a flight with those
torture devices.

If our government wants to discourage travel, this will do it. One sign of a tyranny is travel restrictions. Just look at various closed countries like China, Russia, Cuba, and Iran. Before instituting travels restrictions, make travel as unappealing as possible so people don't want to travel.

I am planning a trip to visit my sister in the NE this August. I will be driving the 19 hours the trip will take instead of flying. It would cost about the same for a cattle car ticket, I will have my own vehicle to tool around in while I am there and I don't have to worry about oversize fluid bottles or overweight luggage charges, plus I can shop while I am there and not have to worry about how to get it home without breaking it. I also do not have to worry about having my luggage lost, stolen or rifled through.
For me, it's a no-brainer.

Pretty soon they will just stuff passengers into a PVC tube and stack them like cord wood....I refuse to fly anymore...I don't want some gay TSA agent grabbing my stuff or getting put into a seat with a greased shoe horn...if I can't drive, I don't go...
Last summer the wife and I had a most enjoyable trip to Monument Valley and environs and did it by car...

The air saddle shown in the accompanying photo was just a click bait to open your vent mechanism, however, like one other poster, I will drive to a smaller city and depart from there if I ever have to fly more than a two hour flight. And never will I ever again fly anywhere having to pass through Detroit, New York or Boston. I'd rather borrow one of Hillary's brooms for that passage.
Also, I wouldn't fly on Delta again if you GAVE me the company.

I recently had to fly from NJ to Salt Lake for a family get together. It had been a number of years since my last airline travel and I have flown a great deal both commercially and in the military. I was appalled at how the passenger experience has declined - the airline people jokingly refer to their customers as "self-loading freight". What I found exceedingly odd was that few people occupying window seats actually raised the shades to allow some sunlight into the packed cabin. I surmise this was so they could see the screens on their electronic devices but it created a rather depressing environment. I think I'll stick to road trips from now on and avoid the TSA tyrants like the guy in SLC who was an absolute jerk to the people not jumping in the correct fashion to his commands. Sheesh.

Have to fly to California and then up to Spokane to drive to Moscow Idaho. A dear friend has cancer. I use to fly 200 to 300,000 miles a year. I stopped in 1990 and still don't want to get on a plane. I'm not looking forward to it!!!
