Top administration officials and lawmakers have left the White House after a more than hourlong briefing about Iran's downing of an American surveillance drone in the Middle East.
Amid mounting tension between the U.S. and Iran, the White House invited House and Senate leaders and Democrats and Republicans on the House and Senate Intelligence and Armed Services Committees to meet with President Trump on Thursday.
Others who arrived for the meeting included CIA Director Gina Haspel, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joseph Dunford, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and Army Secretary Mark Esper, whom Trump has said he'll nominate as defense secretary.

We know where all their stuff is, I recommend:
1. Take Out ALL refineries but 1 so they can make gas for citizens.
2. Take Out ALL their shore batteries, SAM's and other offensive/defensive arms
3. Take Out ALL their navy
4. drop a MOAB on their nuclear enrichment facility...in the front door!
5. Take Out the IED factories.
Maybe that will get their attention...

Most likely a false flag, and Trump won't take the bait. Why the rush to another stupid war?

Iran has been begging for a fight. Its about time to smack them off the side of the head. They are too stupid to stop. Sink their navy. Destroy their air force. Destroy their nuke capabilities. Destroy their missile sites. Destroy their terrorist training facilities. If they continue to persist, take out their leadership.

I suspect Iran is fearing insurrection and so they are provoking a war to "unite" the populace against the great satan.

It boils the blood, and the reaction is to secretly wish for just once we would show the world the awesome power of the US. Like that dumb cartoon from years ago where Godzilla meets Bambi. But, thank G-d, we are ruled by our brains. Whatever the measure might be let it be quick.
Good point, #5. But it can backfire. War means putting guns in the hands of many who are unarmed and they may just turn those guns against their leaders. We have learned that there are many who wish to different leadership.

#3, false flag? is that a serious idea? Sometimes a false flag op could be
a reasonable explanation, but this seems to not be one of those times, for a
lot of reasons.
Is it reasonable that some other country launched a high altitude Surface to Air Missile from
Iranian territory to shoot down a US drone? These SAMs are around 20 ft long,
weight maybe 3/4 ton, and need a huge radar system, and a normal missile battery is
around six very large specialized tracked vehicles erectors, launchers, and other
support vehicles about the size of a semi trailer, full of electronics and three to five
people or more needed to make it work.
How exactly does that 'false flag' idea work in this case? Did some other country
sneak in all that equipment into Iran? I guess that is possible but it seems
exceedingly unlikely.
This is far beyond a shoulder fired missile which has a very short range on both
cross range and altitude, far below the normal operating altitudes of our RQ-4 drones.
If the missile was launched from a ship, which seems unlikely, who else has ships out
there that has that sort of capability? I suppose a Russian ship could do it, but it doesn't
seem likely that they would shoot down our drone.

Ya know, I'm so glad I read this article. I was wondering what Gillibrand, Shumer and Pelosi all had to say about this. Well, with their long military service and knowledge of history, we can rest assured these mental giants and paragons of virtue will all have the best interests of the American people at heart. Since Fox declined to publish what any Republicans think, aside from McConnell, we have to rely on the democrats for a proper response to this provocation. And the news media will be more than happy to give us the democrat views as the Republicans apparently don't exist anymore. And I feel safer already, thanks Fox News.

An unarmed drone flying in international air space, never closer than 21 miles from Iran
and somehow that is somehow equivalent to "we'd certainly have shot down one flown by the Iranians, and would be well within our rights to do so"?
The Russians have routinely flown bombers down our coast for at least 60 years, just off the
east coast of the US. We intercept them with fighters, verify who they are and with a wave,
send them on their way. How do I know this? Because both my father and a brother have
flown those missions.
This was a piratical attack in international air space by Iran. Should we invade Iran over it?
Of COURSE NOT. But should we just take it? NO. We need to return the favor and blow
up something of theirs, but bigger and more costly.

Those in power in Iran haven't given up their hope to initiate a conflict that would, they believe, result in the 'twelfth imam' showing up,,AFAIK.

When I see the word measured, it is telling me that nothing of any significance will be done. It means that the avoidance of harming innocent civilians is our first priorty. Bush and Obama used the term many times in their sorry terms as president.

#13, setting your expectations of this President based on previous presidents
is unlikely to be a useful process.
Trump is demonstrably NOT anything like those guys.
My bet is that something very expensive and dear to the mullahs will be
a smoking ruin or at the bottom of the gulf in a few days. And that will be
that.

"Measured"....a shame it won't be measured in kilotons. Sinking an Iranian destroyer would be a good response, but probably more likely to level a few missile launch sites.
