For A-listers like Zach Galifianakis and Sarah Silverman, Stevens wasn’t just a friend, he was a comic savant, one of the few acts they would drop everything to watch — leaving them to wonder: Why did he take his own life just as his career was heating up?
Howard Kremer hadn't heard from his friend and fellow comedian Brody Stevens for a couple of days.

Never heard of him, but many comedians have killed themselves over the years. I've met a few famous comedians, and their off stage personality is completely different then when they're performing. Their humor often hides the deep insecurities they have, and their depression. Humor is a mask they can hide behind. Being funny doesn't often mean being happy.

I too had no idea who he was. And like #2 I went and watched a clip. God love his heart, he wasn't even kinda sorta funny at least not my kinda of funny and I enjoy many comedians.
Bipolar is horrible. Hope he has found peace now.

I stopped reading after noting the author thinks Sarah Silverman is is an A-list anything other than a-hole.

Many of you missed my point...all these so-called A-listers and Hollywood friends loved the guy, but they thought Brody's conservatism and the fact he liked Trump was part of his mental disorder. They couldn't understand him liking Trump's policy as anything other than his bipolar mental illness.

Why are liberals always worshiping their dead false idles? I never heard of the guy and I am sorry he had a tough go in life. So do millions of others who are not flaming liberal icons.

I also had to look Stevens up on YouTube and was embarrassed for him.
The article painted him as some sort of comedians' comedian, everyone had to catch his act.
I remember the same things said about another such guy decades back, Richard Belzer -- those who knew comedy said he was as good as it gets.
Maybe the unwashed masses aren't hip and smart enough to recognize true genius but neither of these "legends" clicked with the public, isn't that what success means? For starters, comedy notwithstanding, I'd say Stevens and Belzer have a common trait, not particularly likeable, nobody you'd want to spend time with.

I was introduced to Brody by a very self-serving comic (mentioned in article) about 8 years ago. I share the sentiments of some others, but I saw flashes of brilliance in him. I liked him and was sad to hear of his passing.
Bipolar's skip their medication because they miss the high. It's mentioned in the article. I understand it but I hate it.

"... Stevens had an unexpected respect for rules and traditions and even authoritarian leaders, which extended to Donald Trump. Stevens angered some in Hollywood when he began to flirt with conspiracies and more hardline conservativism ...
... Many of his friends believe some of his unpopular political dalliances were simply the comedian seeking a surer footing in the world...
Interesting. I'd never heard of the Brody Stevens until now, but maybe he was a rare, genuine talent. Most so-called comedians in the last couple of decades have been drearily un-funny. RIP to a tormented soul.

Who? Was in a bar (when still drinking) 20 years ago and a guy walked in and sat next to me. I was half in the bag, but he started telling the funniest raunchiest jokes I finally realized it was Ben Stiller. What a nice guy! Only famous comedian I have ever met. His dad was one of my favs on Seinfeld also...

So many comedians have mental health issues, massive insecurity and a narcissistic need to be loved and accepted. Which explains why the majority of them are Leftists.

This poor guy was bipolar, but please take note that his friends thought his support for Donald Trump was part of his mental illness and was a sign his mental condition was deteriorating. These people just can't help themselves.
