Gov. Steve Bullock (D., Mont.) was one of the last random white dudes to announce their candidacy for president in the 2020 Democratic primary. He didn't even make the cut for the first round of debates next week in Miami, and he's struggling to stay relevant, or to at least pull even with Beto O'Rourke, an aspiration that is becoming less significant with each passing day. Bullock is doing what most Democratic candidates do when their campaigns desperately need an injection of cash and/or cachet: He's going to Hollywood. The governor will be in Los Angeles later this week to attend a fundraiser hosted by "Hanoi Jane" Fonda,

The 'kiss of death'. Bullock (D-Stupid) needed and excuse to bow out and Hanoi Jane is it. Bullock would have been smarter to ask the Trump hater, foul mouth Peter Fonda to help him out.

As activists strove over the past two years to take down statues of slave owners, Confederates, and racists, we generally agreed with the efforts but worried about who their next target would be. It ended up being Christianity. The iconoclasts have lost for now. The American Humanist Association persuaded only two of nine Supreme Court justices that the Constitution demanded demolition of a century-old war monument in the shape of a cross. The ruling had narrow implications. The cross in question — the Peace Cross, a World War I memorial in Bladensburg, Md. — has been around so long that it had taken on a mostly secular meaning,

What if someone you hated offered to pay off your mortgage or put your kids through college? You’d be suspicious at first, of course. Why is an enemy giving you the gift of a lifetime? But in the end, if you were smart, you’d take it. It would be too good to pass up. Something very much like that happened in Washington, D.C., recently. The Trump administration debated moving some of the thousands of migrants now massing through our southern border into various self-proclaimed sanctuary cities across the United States. Talk about great news for blue America. T

I am sure the Democrat-controlled House has passed several bills and resolutions, maybe even some that matter, maybe even some that we conservatives would endorse. The thing is, most of us average American lugs do not live in Washington, D.C. We do not sit all day in the House of Representatives or attend legislative meetings, marveling at all the legislative hours of “hard work.” We do not watch day-long C-SPAN coverage of the House. Rather, we go about our lives. Most of us lugs follow the main top news stories of the day: two or three aggravating things emanating from D.C., one or two world stories where a Tyrannical

When you pay premium prices, you expect a premium product — but that’s not necessarily the case with bottled water. California nonprofit Center for Environmental Health has revealed that water bottle brands Peñafiel, owned by Keurig Dr. Pepper, and Starkey, owned by Whole Foods, contain levels of highly toxic arsenic that are above the legal limit. The United States Environmental Protection Agency says long-term exposure to arsenic can lead to reproductive harm, circulatory and nervous system disorders and cancer. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also note an increased risk of diabetes and hypertension.

Nine people died when a small, twin-engine aircraft used by skydivers crashed Friday evening near Dillingham Airfield in Mokuleia on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, officials said. Family members of the skydivers were reportedly not far from the site when the crash happened. The mangled remains of the King Air plane were seen in a photo posted by a local newspaper and distributed by the Associated Press. “In my 44 years as a firefighter in Hawaii, this is the most tragic incident that we’ve had,” Honolulu Fire Chief Manuel Neves told the Star-Advertiser, describing the incident.

President Trump plans to nominate Army Secretary Mark Esper as the nation's next defense secretary, the White House announced Friday evening. Esper is set to start as acting defense secretary Monday following the departure Friday of current acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan, the Washington Post reported. The transition at the Pentagon comes amid escalating tensions between the U.S. and Iran, following Iran's downing of a U.S. drone over international waters and the country's suspected involvement on attacks against oil tankers in the Gulf of Oman earlier this month.

The Trump administration’s plan to ban federally funded family planning clinics from giving abortion referrals will be allowed to go into effect nationwide, a federal appeals court ruled Thursday. The ruling means the administration can implement a rule issued earlier this year that bans abortion providers from participating in the Title X family planning program, removes a requirement that clinics provide abortion counseling, and bars providers from referring women for abortions. The rule was supposed to take effect May 3, but three lower courts issued injunctions, each of which the administration appealed.

‘Third World” is now an anachronistic geographical term of the old Cold War. But after 1989, “Third World” was reinvented from a political noun into an adjective to mean more than just Asian, African, and Latin American nations nonaligned with either the West or the Soviet bloc. Rather, the current modifier “Third World” has come to transcend geography, politics, and ethnicity. It simply denotes poor failed states all over the globe of all races and religions. Third World symptomologies are predictably corrupt government, unequal or nonexistent applicability of the law, two rather than three classes, and the return of medieval diseases

The ascent of Elizabeth Warren in the Democratic race should warm the heart of any policy wonk. Her mantra is “I’ve got a plan for that,” and she has more than three times as many plans as any of the other 22 candidates. But while the Massachusetts senator is to be commended for her relentlessly serious campaign, it doesn’t necessarily mean her ideas are good or that they will help her defeat a lowbrow president. On both counts, there is ample room for skepticism. Warren’s big idea is the opposite of President Bill Clinton’s. In 1996, Clinton said “the era of big government is over.” Warren thinks it is just beginning.
