New York voters will go to the polls on Tuesday (Nov. 4) to pick a new mayor, and in at least one late-breaking survey, leading contender Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani is on top again when it comes to his knowledge of iconic New York musicians. The democratic nominee who is facing off against former Gov. Andrew Cuomo, popped in to the Track Star podcast this week to test his music IQ with host Jack Coyne, and the results were an across-the-board sweep. Well, except for one legendary Long Island-based songwriter whose music Mamdani was surprisingly unfamiliar with.

Comments:

Comrade didn't recognize Billy Joel's "New York State of Mind," asking when that song is going to drop (be released). Of course, the Billy Joel song that comes to my mind with the probable election of Mamdani is Miami 2017, the story of the end of New York from a refugee in Florida. https://www.billyjoel.com/video/miami-2017-live-jazz-fest-2013/

I fully support and endorse this fine young man for Mayor of NYC! His election will provide a direct real life educational experience for the hard left, especially the young people who should skip voting until they're old enough to understand life is not a giant re-enactment of Peter Pan.

So he didn't know who Billy Joel was - so what. There are so many better reasons NOT to vote for him. That said, he is going to be the next mayor of NYC and soon thereafter, Dallas will be home to the US Stock Exchange. The city is headed for 'once upon a time'.

Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out On Broadway) Song by Billy Joel I've seen the lights go out on Broadway I saw the Empire State laid low And life went on beyond the palaces They all bought Cadillacs, and left their long ago They held a concert out in Brooklyn To watch the island bridges blow They turned our power down, and drove us underground But we went right on with the show, oh-oh-oh Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh I've seen the lights go out on Broadway I saw the ruins at my feet You know, we almost didn't notice it We'd see it all the time on 42nd Street They burned the churches up in Harlem Like in that Spanish Civil War The flames were everywhere, but no one really cared It always burned up there before, oh-oh-oh Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh I've seen lights go out on Broadway I washed the mighty skyline fall The boats were waiting at the valley The union went on strike, they never sailed at all They sent a carrier out from Norfolk And picked the Yankees up for free They sailed the Queens to save, they blew the Bronx away And sank Manhattan out at sea You know those lights were bright on Broadway That was so many years ago Before we all lived here in Florida Before the Mafia took over Mexico There are not many who remember They say a handful still survive To tell the world about the way the lights went out And keep the memory alive

The Air Force said Sunday that videos about the famed Tuskegee Airmen and a unit of pioneering female aviators would be restored to the basic training curriculum for new recruits beginning Monday. A course that included the videos was shut down last week so officials could review it to make sure it complied with President Trump's executive order ending federal diversity, equity and inclusion programs, an Air Force official said. "DEI material" not permitted under Trump's order was removed from the course, but the historical videos will remain, the official said.

From the halls of Ivy to the Fourth Estate, once-respected institutions are revealing themselves to be at the forefront of efforts to upend the mores and conduct which make ours a civilized society worth defending against barbarism. I’ve already detailed some of the outrageous anti-Semitic, anti-American actions which so many colleges and universities have tolerated. (Canary Mission has done an outstanding job detailing what’s been going on in academia.) This week, some have responded, not all with the kind of appropriate vigor and clarity which these actions call for.

The reigning WNBA champion Las Vegas Aces were the recipients of a unique challenge from nationally syndicated talk radio host Clay Travis who seems to believe that the best women’s basketball team in the U.S. would be hard-pressed to beat a boy’s high school team. Travis reacted to a putdown from Aces star guard Chelsea Gray who called him a “dumbass” for expressing his opinion that “a good, state championship caliber, high school boys team would smoke the best team in the WNBA,” by giving her a chance to put her money where her mouth is.

When it comes to questioning the results of elections, there are two sets of rules that are unfairly applied to Democrats as opposed to everyone else in a country where unequal justice under the law has become the new normal. To prove that point, one need look to Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas who is so terrified of his Republican opponent in the upcoming midterm elections that he is falsely claiming that Rep. Mayra Flores “stole” her House seat by winning a special election in June, stunning observers by pulling it off in a district that has traditionally gone for Democrats, a race seen as a bellwether for November.

(Austin) — A trip to the Austin area for a volleyvall match ended in an unexpected and frustrating way for members of the Seguin High School Matador varsity team. The team stopped, after its match, to eat at a Cheddar’s restaurant in the Austin area. Parents say while the kids were inside, thieves were outside breaking into the team’s vans. Volleyball equipment and some personal belongings were taken from the vehicle. The crime is upsetting enough, but the police response, or lack there of, was also upsetting to some parents.

U.S. healthcare is now a solid week into the CT contrast shortage of ’22, and common themes are emerging in adaptations at local hospitals and imaging centers. One is the wisdom of making up-or-down contrast and scanning decisions one patient at a time rather than as a blanket short-term policy. Another is the commonsense call to reserve inventory for patients most in need while avoiding use of the term rationing. A third might be the fingers-crossed expectation that the shortage will not drag on to where it becomes a crisis.

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas could become Harry Reid International as soon as September, a Clark County official said today. The county could conduct a ceremony and put up a new sign this fall to mark the renaming of the airport for the former longtime U.S. senator from Nevada, said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a leading advocate for the renaming. The County Commission unanimously voted in February to rename the county-owned and operated airport for Democrat Reid, a Searchlight native who spent more than 30 years in Washington, mostly as a senator but also as a U.S. representative. He was Senate majority leader from 2007 to 2015.

There is a great deal of manipulation and falsehood in media presentation of the 2020 election. These lies and false constructs generate a great deal of anxiety. That said, there are two specific approaches by the narrative engineers that deserve a strong reminder. The first purposeful approach media use to create and embed their false assumptions is a slight of hand that few notice, and it can create anxiety. In normal term-two election cycles the baseline for media analysis should be the incumbent electoral win in term one. T

A Walmart spokesperson told The Dallas Express via telephone on Wednesday that “Walmart stores will be open,” and implied that the company would be monitoring the situation closely. The potential suspension of Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits could significantly impact retailers nationwide, particularly those heavily reliant on lower-income shoppers. The looming halt in benefits, set to begin November 1 if the government shutdown continues, would cut off food aid for roughly 42 million Americans.
