TX Dem makes insurrection-y claim GOP’s
Mayra Flores ‘stole’ House seat in
special election

When it comes to questioning the results of elections, there are two sets of rules that are unfairly applied to Democrats as opposed to everyone else in a country where unequal justice under the law has become the new normal. To prove that point, one need look to Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of Texas who is so terrified of his Republican opponent in the upcoming midterm elections that he is falsely claiming that Rep. Mayra Flores “stole” her House seat by winning a special election in June, stunning observers by pulling it off in a district that has traditionally gone for Democrats, a race seen as a bellwether for November.

Comments:

Being a resident of the adjoining TX-15 district and currently "served" by Rep. Gonzalez, let me set the record straight. Rep. Gonzalez, a backbencher among Democrats, was used to winning his district by 20% or so. In 2020, he shocked a lot of us by only beating Monica Delacuz by only 2-3%. I figured she was going to do only slightly better and voted for her. So, with redistricting, the district was made slightly more Republican (not much) and it would have been even closer. When the Dem. rep in the adjoining TX-34 decided he wasn't going to run for another term, Vicente decided to go for the "safe seat" next door. Okay, he wouldn't have been the first guy to do that. And with the AOC wannabe that the Dems nominated, Monica is the favorite to win the seat. But the guy who had the job got greedy. He found some lobbyist firm willing to pay him big bucks. Instead of waiting until Jan.2023 to start cashing the checks, he decided to take the money and run. So, his seat is now open. Problem is, Vicente already has the job, so he can't run for the unexpired term. The Dems put a figurehead candidate up, thinking that they would automatically win. Mayra and the GOP decided that hey, winning here would be very helpful to a win in the fall and spent the money to win the race. Now, an easy win for Vicente in November (which will be a more-Democrat leaning distr But thict than currently drawn) has a tougher race than he thought. Heck, he even brought Shifty Schiff into town to campaign for him. I doubt he'll welcome Joe Biden, but then again, Joe has an allergy to the US/Mexico border. Mayra does have a tough race ahead of her. If you can support her campaign, please do so.

Yahoo News headline "Out-of-state money fuels Hassan's record-setting fundraising machine." FTA: "Out-of-state donors from New York to Los Angeles account for nearly 90% of the record-setting total collected so far by Sen. Maggie Hassan's reelection campaign, according to federal campaign finance records." What if we passed a campaign finance law that said one could only contribute to candidate one could vote for? Here in NH we would welcome such a law. Swing states with competitive races are unduly influenced by out of state money.

Any GOP candidate that wins against a dem is an insurrectionist against the dem. Simple, isn't it? This is the world view the hapless, incompetent, obnoxious dems have reached. No one can challenge or question them. They have reached this point because their entire policy position has fallen on its face and the voters blame the dems. The dems have no valid response to this so the only thing they can do is throw mud and make absurd accusations. If this sounds insane, it is.

Using his logic, Warnock is trying to steal his Senate seat given that a majority of his funding is from out of state. Also, aren't the Dems the ones claiming anyone who believes in voter fraud is insane?

(Austin) — A trip to the Austin area for a volleyvall match ended in an unexpected and frustrating way for members of the Seguin High School Matador varsity team. The team stopped, after its match, to eat at a Cheddar’s restaurant in the Austin area. Parents say while the kids were inside, thieves were outside breaking into the team’s vans. Volleyball equipment and some personal belongings were taken from the vehicle. The crime is upsetting enough, but the police response, or lack there of, was also upsetting to some parents.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is leaving meetings to receive medical treatments amid ongoing speculation that he is ill, Christopher Steele, a former intelligence official in the U.K., recently said. "Meetings of the security council that are shown to supposedly last for a whole hour are actually broken up into several sections," Steele, who served in the MI6 intelligence office, said during an interview with LBC Radio. "[Putin] goes out and receives some kind of medical treatment between those sections." Steele also said that Putin is "constantly accompanied around the place by a team of doctors."

U.S. healthcare is now a solid week into the CT contrast shortage of ’22, and common themes are emerging in adaptations at local hospitals and imaging centers. One is the wisdom of making up-or-down contrast and scanning decisions one patient at a time rather than as a blanket short-term policy. Another is the commonsense call to reserve inventory for patients most in need while avoiding use of the term rationing. A third might be the fingers-crossed expectation that the shortage will not drag on to where it becomes a crisis.

McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas could become Harry Reid International as soon as September, a Clark County official said today. The county could conduct a ceremony and put up a new sign this fall to mark the renaming of the airport for the former longtime U.S. senator from Nevada, said Commissioner Tick Segerblom, a leading advocate for the renaming. The County Commission unanimously voted in February to rename the county-owned and operated airport for Democrat Reid, a Searchlight native who spent more than 30 years in Washington, mostly as a senator but also as a U.S. representative. He was Senate majority leader from 2007 to 2015.

There is a great deal of manipulation and falsehood in media presentation of the 2020 election. These lies and false constructs generate a great deal of anxiety. That said, there are two specific approaches by the narrative engineers that deserve a strong reminder. The first purposeful approach media use to create and embed their false assumptions is a slight of hand that few notice, and it can create anxiety. In normal term-two election cycles the baseline for media analysis should be the incumbent electoral win in term one. T

Sen. Cory Booker announced Monday that he will end his campaign after failing to qualify for the Democratic debate planned for Tuesday in Iowa. "It was a difficult decision to make, but I got in this race to win, and I've always said I wouldn't continue if there was no longer a path to victory," Booker said in an email to supporters Monday. The New Jersey Democrat's announcement came a day before six presidential candidates will participate in the CNN/Des Moines Register's debate in Des Moines, Iowa. He did not qualify for the event. It also came as the Senate gears up for the impeachment trial of President Donald Trump.

The next day, Fletcher voted to impeach President Donald Trump — a move Republicans are dead-set on making sure overshadows all else Fletcher has done in her rather effective first year in Congress.

Georgia Democrats are wringing their hands about the lackluster performance of their gubernatorial candidate, Stacey Abrams, in her long-anticipated rematch with incumbent Republican Gov. Brian Kemp. They kept their worries to themselves until the New York Times ran a story last Wednesday that highlighted complaints by local Democrats that she hasn’t bothered to reach out to crucial constituencies. It appears that Abrams, having been showered by obsequious media coverage since Kemp defeated her in 2018, was overconfident about her chances of beating him this year and took her base supporters for granted.

That Queen Elizabeth II passed away this week was a surprise only in the sense of the day it happened. Nothing against the Queen, who always seemed like a nice, lovely person, but she was 96. When someone is 96 years old the days are numbered. One day we might cheat death, or find ways to postpone it much longer than nature dictates currently, but that day isn’t today. So, sad as it is for family and friends of anyone who passes away at any age, surprise isn’t a word that leaps to mind to describe it.

The other four defendants are Ramzi Binalshibh, Mustafa Ahmed al-Hawsawi, Walid bin Attash and Ammar al-Baluchi. Attorneys for the defendants reportedly say they would be willing to enter a guilty plea in exchange for taking the death penalty off the table, as well as for getting treatment for alleged torture they experienced while in CIA custody.
