Judge Blocks Trump from Requiring Proof

A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s efforts to protect election integrity by requiring proof of United States citizenship on voter registration forms, finding that Trump “lacks the authority to direct such changes.” In a decision by U.S. District Judge Collen Kollar-Kotelly on Friday, Kollar-Kotelly “sided with Democratic and civil rights groups that sued the Trump administration” after the President issued an executive order in March entitled “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” according to the Associated Press. Kollar-Kotelly, who was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, claimed in her decision that “the proof-of-citizenship directive is an unconstitutional violation of the separation of powers,”

Why has the US Congress not passed Federal legislation to require that only US citizens with appropriate identification showing that they are actually US citizens be able to register and vote in Federal elections? Maybe because the congressional Republicans are so wimpy? Right now aliens (noncitizens) or anyone else can register and vote, especially in the Democrat States multiple times using different claimed identities that in many cases may not even be their true identity. If the congressional Republicans do try to pass such legislation, no doubt the leftist, progressive, and socialist Democrats will fight against such legislation, that should tell you something!

Doesn't the Presidential Oath of Office call for the President to uphold the Constitution of the United States and it's laws? Doesn't the Constitution (or some other law) spell out that ONLY US citizens can vote on federal elections? So wouldn't that fall under something that is in President Trump's powers? Isn't Trump the ultimate law enforcement in the US? Judge Kollar-Kotelley seems to ignore this.

Yes, OP, voting is much more important than flying or driving, although we have illegal drivers as well. Some of the crooks working in federal buildings do more harm than the people attempting to get in who are getting their IDs checked and passing their keys and wallets through security. So ... anyone can just come into America and vote!?? Fine if you believe only Congress can make that requirement. Then let's get Congress to do so immediately. In the mean time, why can't an Executive Order fill in until the law gets passed? This is why the POTUS has the power to immediately strike our enemies with a defense attack without having to wait to get Congress to approve. Formal war gets declared later ... often months later ... so why not in this case?

There is a concerted effort by federal judges, with a wink & nod by the Left, to do anything to slow down Trump's agenda. They'll do anything to poke a stick at Trump, just as they did duing his 1st term, then lawfare between terms, and now in his 2nd term. So far, Trump has always acquiesced to the Courts, until appealed lawfully through the judicial system. The Dems are hoping Trump defies the Courts, even once, so they can use it against him, (should they regain power), as a point of impeachment. The SC has no power to police the lower courts, and that's why Trump's agenda is being hamstrung. The solution lies with Congress, but we all know they will do nothing to help Trump, or further his policies.
