Most Americans oppose the demolition of the White House's East Wing to make way for President Donald Trump's ballroom, according to an ABC News/Washington Post/Ipsos poll conducted using Ipsos’ KnowledgePanel. A 56% majority of Americans oppose the Trump administration tearing down the East Wing of the White House as part of the construction of a 90,000-square-foot ballroom paid for by $300 million in private donations, including 45% who "strongly" oppose it, the poll finds. (Snip) Just 28% of Americans support it, with 15% strongly supporting the East Wing being torn down for a ballroom, the poll found. Another 16% say they are not sure. Are they tearing down the East Wing or are they just tearing down the pass thru portico attached to the East Wing? It's not tax payer funded so it's not costing me anything. Tearing down historical statues country wide was more upsetting to me, as they represented the countries history.

I dont believe that most Americans object. That is the media trying to turn people away from Trump. I hate using ports potties. Ya think we should have a bunch of those disgusting things out side a tent for people to use at a state dinner. It’s a stupid disagreement. Build it. If you object, refuse the invite to one of the events being held in it. Especially if you’re a democrat.

Too late!! However, they are only tearing down the east portico connecting the two buildings. It was built in 1942 and was loaded with asbestos, inefficient HVAC and bad electricals. It will be rebuilt to reconnect the ballroom to the White House but will also be brought up to code at the same time. Some people are just too stupid or lazy to look at an architectural model before panicking or spewing their TDS-fueled hatred!!

I think 75% of Americans don't know anything about it. Taking a small sample, and hiding the fact it cannot be accurately projected on the entirety of the American population by using a category of no opinion, is a statistical farce of sampling, and a poll that should be thrown in the trashcan.

People should read more honest sources of the 'news'. The East wing is not only a much later addition to the White House, it is also, and more importantly, decrepit and inadequate needing extensive repair - as it was. You'd think Trump was going to erect a lighted billboard of his face.

More information is being presented on these posts than the MSM has presented to the public across their public airwaves. Wonder why? Bet none of those questioned were told Trump offered to build it when Obama was in office or that the section they had to remove was not up to code so needed to be fixed regardless. Trump needs to have some urgency on this project to ensure it's done quickly.
