Simple truth is a powerful force against the evil that is shrouding our world. No nation can prosper when it defies the commandments of God. God bless this man for he speaks truth to power.

When half of a nation's population condones murder and insists on it being a right, that nation is already on a steep downhill path. We have a long way to go to get back on God's good side.

The worst of it is, a "devout Catholic" is leading the procession into hell in my country.

Abortion is evil but is only 1 out of 100 things being pushed by the New World Order. They want to play god over Earth and remove 80 percent of the world's population. I fear for the world our children and grandchildren will be living in.

I respect the right to freely practice your religion. Please respect my right to not practice your religion. Keep religion out of politics. It is a losing issue for Republicans.

In some ways banning abortion is trying to suppress the symptoms instead of addressing the disease. Breakdown of conventional normal social structure, weakening of the natural family, upsetting the balance of male/female relationship is (what is) causing this abomination. Under pretext of removing past injustices we have brought on a system which is clearly not working.

That sounds nice and libertarian in a way, #10, but no religion has the right or expectation of respect in the first place for any ritual it practices that deliberately ends innocent human life. So religion is a moot point here that nobody is forcing on anybody. Fortunately, in this article Archbishop Vigano makes no demand on anyone to follow his Catholic religion. The fact that his religion's position on ending the senseless slaughter of innocents is, coincidentally, a basic human value. Self-preservation of the species and all that. Any position to the contrary is not human, regardless of religion.

I'm not a religious person so I do not have to toe a line. A total ban is ridiculous and calling for one reduces the chances I and others would support you. There has to be room for common sense.

Too many people ignore the fact that there are innocent lives involved that cannot lift a finger to protect themselves. Their survival depends upon the actions of others. The mother does not have a right to kill her child and the government does not have a right to declare the act legal.

How long before pope Frank demotes or excommunicates Vigano?

Abortion and denial of human rights by one group of Americans over another is beyond debate, It is a religion. Dogma. As we see here, it is an absolute for those who have rejected God and religion. Either one makes oneself God with self directed morality-- the willing defender of all abortion, or one acknowledges a God who created us all and then either follows that path or rejects it. But to reject God in favor of defending abortion and aligning with others who also reject God, that was not what the Founding Fathers intended of this country. They also didn't encourage a secular state without religious influence and discussion in the public square. Pray for wisdom, if nothing else.

Calling for adherence to the inspired biblical precepts and commandments is very different from calling for adherence to particular religious creeds. Honoring biblical principles worked out very well for the founding of our nation, and stood us in good stead until leadership in government decided that separation of church and state meant ridding governance of God and his word, instead of instituting a particular authoritative religion of state. God created rule of law and government. It works best when adhering to His precepts. That remains the same for whatever political party is in power. It would solve all of our problems. The debate has gone far from how best to do right according to that rule of law. It has become a division over the right to pervert it and do wrong according to it.
