A virus with a fatality rate that can reach 75 per cent is resurgent in India, sparking growing concern. Nipah virus is classified as a zoonotic disease, meaning it can jump from animals to humans. It was first identified after an outbreak in Malaysian pig farmers in 1999. It then popped up in Bangladesh in 2001 and outbreaks occur there annually, along with eastern India, the World Health Organisation (WHO) stated. More than 100 people have died of Nipah. It is spread from secretions from animals, through contaminated food and contact with the tissue of sick animals. Fruit bats are the natural carriers of the virus and have been identified

Nipah is searchable on this site.

Last week it was all about the Jamestown Canyon virus. Some of these diseases need to contact the Red Chinese propaganda machine and its willing dupes in the US media for talking points.

Three years after “defund the police” became a BLM rallying cry, San Francisco and other Bay Area cities are still trying to recover from the brief popularity that phrase once had with mayors and city councils. San Francisco is still down hundreds of police officers and has come up with a new plan to attract more recruits: Go to Texas. The San Francisco Police Department is visiting four Texas university campuses through September as part of new recruiting efforts to find candidates outside of California. For the first time, police officer candidates will be tested outside of California, with a written test, a physical ability test and an oral interview.

President Biden is trailing former President Trump, former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley and Sen. Tim Scott (R-S.C.) in several hypothetical 2024 match-ups in a new survey from Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll shared with The Hill. The poll found that 44 percent of respondents said they would vote for Trump when asked about a hypothetical match-up between him and Biden in 2024, while 40 percent said they would back the current president. A separate 15 percent said they were unsure or didn’t know. The polling is largely unchanged from a similar Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll conducted in July, which had Trump at 45 percent and Biden at 40 percent.

The Border Patrol, which remains focused on its mission and is generally less corrupted than the rest of the federal workforce, has a little something to say to all the sanctuary cities out there: Sure, it was done by the Border Patrol union, and not the agency itself. But it pretty well indicates what the rank and file are thinking. That may be why we are seeing strange videos like these, this time in San Diego, which has become the latest dumping ground for Joe Biden's catch-and-release: It may be that the Border Patrol doesn't even care anymore. This may not be shaking out the way the United Auto Workers envisioned after all. Yeah, their president got to talk tough, and they walked out with a new strategy, striking all 3 major automakers at the same time, one facility at a time. Striking a blow for the little guy may wind up costing lots of little guys. Part of the union demands to carmaker Stellantis (Jeep and Chrysler among a myriad of other brands) pre-walkout included reopening the Belvidere, IL assembly plant. It closed down in February of this year as Jeep Cherokee sales dried up. The facility is massive. …Once home to as many as 5,000 production employees,

The summer before an election year is not always kind to first-term Democrats. In August of 1995 Bob Dole led Bill Clinton. In the summer of 2011, the public's "grim views" of the economy, we said at the time, pushed Barack Obama's disapproval to its then-highest point. That both presidents recovered and went on to reelection may give Democrats hope, because right now Joe Biden and the Democratic Party face major challenges of their own. And those Democrats won't find any solace in this: today Mr. Biden is down one point, and inside the margin of error, in a match-up with Donald Trump, whom he beat by seven million

Marine Corps officials ordered a two-day stand-down of all aircraft inside and outside the U.S. on Monday after an F-35 jet disappeared in South Carolina. The Pentagon said in a statement that the move would allow units “to discuss aviation safety matters and best practices.” The pause will give leaders time “to ensure the service is maintaining operational standardization of combat-ready aircraft with well-prepared pilots and crews.” “During the safety stand down, aviation commanders will lead discussions with their Marines focusing on the fundamentals of safe flight operations, ground safety, maintenance and flight procedures, and maintaining combat readiness,” the statement said.

New court documents claim that Border Patrol agents temporarily separated some migrant families this summer, a practice President Joe Biden once called an “abhorrent.” In a Friday court filing, Dr. Paul Wise, a pediatrician tasked with monitoring the conditions and treatment of migrant children in U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody, said that he found children as young as 8 were separated from their parents by the Biden administration. The separations were done mainly to prevent overcrowding in short-term holding facilities, but Wise warned that they could have a lasting effect on children.

Biden's Monday morning filing cites two major examples in IRS agents Gary Shapley and Joseph Ziegler, two whistleblowers who claimed the IRS mishandled aspects of its investigation into Biden. Biden's lawsuit seeks for the court to declare that the IRS "willfully, knowingly, and/or by gross negligence, unlawfully disclosed Mr. Biden's confidential tax information." In addition, Biden is demanding $1,000 in damages for "each and every unauthorized disclosure of his tax returns,"

His two terms were highly successful, and he left office with high approval ratings and eight years of impressive accomplishments. He was so popular that his bland and uninspiring Vice President was elected in 1988 as a third Reagan term. Yet, Bush was nothing like Ronald Reagan.
