Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has axed the dress code that requires legislators to wear professional attire on the Senate floor months after Sen. John Fetterman was slammed for wearing a hoodie. Schumer (D-NY) quietly directed the Senate’s Sergeant at Arms to stop enforcing the dress code that mandates male senators wear a jacket and tie and female senators a dress or other businesswear on the floor, Axios reported Sunday. The change in policy comes after Fetterman (D-PA) was bashed by conservatives for donning a hoodie, gym shorts and sneakers to the chamber. Many called his casual fashion choices disrespectful. “John Fetterman’s attire in the Senate perfectly summarizes Democrats lack of respect

Senator Schumer may be well-intentioned, but loosening or taking away dress codes could result in destroying the behavior and respect for the Senate’s authority within its ranks as well as from the citizenry as evidenced by the permission to relax or eliminate dress codes by many public schools that resulted in less, or total, disrespect for authority figures such as teachers who, quite often, could not be distinguished from students.

Washington—Surgeons have transplanted a pig’s heart into a dying man in a bid to prolong his life – only the second patient to ever undergo such an experimental feat. Two days later, the man was cracking jokes and able to sit in a chair, Maryland doctors said Friday. The 58-year-old Navy veteran was facing near-certain death from heart failure but other health problems meant he wasn’t eligible for a traditional heart transplant, according to doctors at University of Maryland Medicine. While the next few weeks will be critical, doctors were thrilled at Lawrence Faucette’s early response to the pig organ.

The US-Saudi relationship soured when President Joe Biden took office, and now Biden’s reelection prospects may suffer, too. Back on Nov. 21, 2018, just two weeks after the midterm elections, then-President Donald Trump celebrated recent declines in the global oil price with a tweet, ending with: “Thank you to Saudi Arabia, but let’s go lower.” About six weeks earlier, the West Texas Intermediate oil price had peaked at $76.40 per barrel. By Nov. 6, when American voters took to the polls, it was at $61.69 — a fall of around 24% in only a month.
