Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has axed the dress code that requires legislators to wear professional attire on the Senate floor months after Sen. John Fetterman was slammed for wearing a hoodie.
Schumer (D-NY) quietly directed the Senate’s Sergeant at Arms to stop enforcing the dress code that mandates male senators wear a jacket and tie and female senators a dress or other businesswear on the floor, Axios reported Sunday.
The change in policy comes after Fetterman (D-PA) was bashed by conservatives for donning a hoodie, gym shorts and sneakers to the chamber. Many called his casual fashion choices disrespectful.
“John Fetterman’s attire in the Senate perfectly summarizes Democrats lack of respect

Remember Sen. Pat Moynihan (D-NY) said "Defining deviancy down"? I think that also applies here. This doesn't bode well.

Because of this PA fat sau slob who has the brain of an amebae others are now to follow this 'dress code' just because corrupt Schumer says so? Imagine they all dress this way, and a picture of this senate goes around the world. This is what American lawmakers look like. Right. It's bad enough that the occasional resident vegetable in the WH runs around in his cheap looking pimp suits with the disgusting looking toothpick legs now the dumb so-called senator from Pa in his slob gear. Great!

Senator Schumer may be well-intentioned, but loosening or taking away dress codes could result in destroying the behavior and respect for the Senate’s authority within its ranks as well as from the citizenry as evidenced by the permission to relax or eliminate dress codes by many public schools that resulted in less, or total, disrespect for authority figures such as teachers who, quite often, could not be distinguished from students.

The next GOP Majority Leader needs to immediately reimpose the dress code with the caveat that all Senators from the States of New York and Pennsylvania, in order to appear on the Senate floor, must be dressed up like Bozo the Clown complete with face paint and red rubber nose.

Notice that the Senators themselves are now exempt from the dress code, but not their aides. Everyone else on the Senate floor still needs to comply. So now the Senators will look like slobs, but at least their employees will be dressed decently.
