A good marriage is the 'number one predictor
of happiness' for men and women, sociologist says

Despite a cultural narrative that singles lead happier lives, married Americans report higher rates of happiness than their single counterparts. A strong marriage is actually "the number one predictor of happiness in America today," says Brad Wilcox, a sociology professor at the University of Virginia and a fellow at the Institute for Family Studies. "What we see in the research is that both men and women who are married are almost twice as likely to be happy compared to their fellow Americans who are not married," he told FOX News Digital.

"Good" being the key word here. A bad marriage, which three fourths of the married population find themselves in, is pure misery. Go in with both eyes open, if you can. Surveys like this, out of necessity, often are based on lies.

I agree with this 100%. I am married to a great man. He has always been a loving and strong leader for our family. I feel safe and secure and loved every day. And I try in every way to return to him everything he needs. We made God the center of our marriage from the very beginning, and He has rewarded us greatly. We have three great children and several wonderful grandchildren. God is great!!!

Let’s assume a bad marriage for these purposes is just not a fulfilling one, but not an abusive one either. I wonder how the happiness of single people compares to the happiness of people who are married but not in a marriage that they think of as fulfilling.

Life is a lot happier and things just work better when you work with a loving, helpful, capable "team member". We've been married almost 50 years now, and it's been about 95% fantastic with a few rough patches.

I am sorry to disagree but there is no such thing as luck here . If happiness comes from a good marriage, a good marriage comes from compromise. What makes three fourth of couples in our society reject or refuse compromise? That many of the individuals in our society are not bad people. We must examine the basic tenets of our culture to see what we are doing wrong. Bad marriages lead to bad families. bad families raise individuals who are bad spouses. We are firmly in the grip of this vicious cycle now.

Totally agree with the premise of the article. My wife and I were married for 30 years. We had the best marriage in world history. Since her death six years ago, life has been sad, drab and pointless. She was irreplaceable. I look forward to being with her again someday.

On Friday, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita (R-Ind.) filed a lawsuit in federal court against the state’s largest hospital system, claiming that it violated the privacy of an underaged girl from Ohio who traveled to Indiana for an abortion last year. As reported by ABC News, Rokita claims that Dr. Caitlin Bernard violated patient privacy laws when she publicly told the story about the 10-year-old, a victim of rape who traveled across state lines to get access to an abortion drug. The story made national headlines following the Supreme Court’s historic decision to overturn Roe v. Wade,

Kansas has reached the next stage in its battle over government recognition of transgender identities. Democratic Governor Laura Kelly joined other Democratic state leaders in 2019 by allowing people to change the gender listed on their birth certificates. The Soviets successfully pulled off a number of dirty tricks which increased their power but impoverished their citizens. Among them was to stir up class warfare by politicizing envy. Thus, unsuccessful farmers were urged to demonize and even kill “kulaks” -- that is, any productive farmer in the area. Another trick was to fail to provide factories with sufficient raw materials to fulfill the overly optimistic state-set production quotas and then criminally prosecute factory managers who couldn’t meet these targets as "saboteurs.” It deflected from their own failures but unsurprisingly resulted in a shortage of qualified managers and engineers.
