Twitter is notifying its employees over email if they've been laid off. With differing emails going to now-former workers depending on their location. Twitter employees affected by mass layoffs under new owner Elon Musk started to realize they'd lost their jobs late Thursday night, as Insider first reported. While they were told by the company earlier in the day they could expect a "workforce reduction" to begin on Friday morning — after Insider reported on such plans — the cuts began suddenly as employees were cut off from access to work tools like email and Slack. A class-action lawsuit has been filed against Twitter over Elon Musk’s plan to sack thousands of staffers — as employees were abruptly locked out of their company Slack and email accounts, and barred from going into the office ahead of the mass layoffs Friday. The lawsuit was filed Thursday in San Francisco federal court after the company notified employees it would eliminate some 3,700 jobs, half its workforce, Bloomberg News reported. It alleges that employees weren’t given enough notice of the mass layoffs in violation of federal and California law.

LONGMONT, Colorado — The temperature is dipping down toward freezing Tuesday night and Toni Stark is getting worried about her rickety basement furnace holding out for another winter. Her plumber told her it will probably make it through, but at 99 years old, Stark isn't taking anything for granted – whether that's being able to keep the furnace running or remaining in her home as the electric and heating bills begin to mount with the cold. “I keep thinking about what to do if I have to replace it," she says from the living room of her one-story brick home

Newsweek laments a new poll by Redfield and Wilton Strategies showing that 40 percent of Americans still believe that the 2020 presidential election was "rigged or stolen." (snip) when we factor in those who believe that the election was not rigged, but understand why Americans are skeptical based upon the facts they've observed, we find that over three in four Americans (or 75.2 percent, given Newsweek's numbers) think the election was rigged, understand why other Americans think the election was rigged, don't know whether or not the election was rigged, or refused to take a position

On Nov. 8, the state of Michigan will vote on Proposition 3, the most extreme pro-abortion bill in the United States. If passed, this constitutional amendment will allow abortion up until and including the day of birth in Michigan. The bill also eliminates all previous pro-life laws, including those regarding partial-birth abortion. Bishop Earl Boyea of the Diocese of Lansing, Michigan began a campaign entitled, “Fight Like Heaven“ in response to the radical bill. The campaign’s mission brings awareness to the bill and calls Catholics to pray, fast, and vote against it.

Some strange things have been happening here in the Pacific Northwest. We’ve had a freakishly warm and dry October, for one, and just the other day Seattle apparently boasted the worst air pollution in the world. That was thanks to the smog from all the nearby wildfires, though I’m pleased to report that more normal monsoon conditions have since returned. Former (and sort of current) president Barack Obama used a rally in Phoenix Wednesday night to deliver a crazy remark about America's system of self-government. The Anointed One asserted that if the Arizona Republican candidates are successful, "democracy as we know it may not survive" there. He added, "That's not an exaggeration. That is a fact." Opinions are now facts, as facts are "disinformation" to the wannabe tyrants called Democrats. Democrats have routinely asserted recently that "our democracy is in danger" if Republicans do well on a national scale in the upcoming midterm elections.

Joe Biden Thursday afternoon campaigned for New Mexico’s Democrat Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. In an outright lie, he shouted: “We cut the federal debt in half — a fact!” As The Gateway Pundit notes: The US economy is currently in a recession and 30-year fixed-rate mortgages are over 7.0%. According to a new CNN poll, 75% of Americans say the US is in a recession. According to a new NBC poll, 75% of Americans say the country is on the wrong track.

Wow. Angry, creepy, sleepy Dementia Joe gave another one of his atrocious Sieg heil! speeches on Wednesday blaming MAGA Republicans for his failures, and the wannabe tyrant could not have come off more revolting. (Could he be any more despicable? — sorry, Chandler Bing.) If his imbecilic ranting had any strategic objective, it got lost (much like Biden) in the disgustingly un-American backwash frothing from his vitriol. He sounded like some mad-hatted, off-kilter offspring of Stalin, Hillary Clinton, and a caca-throwing howler monkey. It is a wonder that he refrained from calling for public MAGA executions right then and there!

Benjamin Franklin was a prodigious inventor. He created devices to fulfill a need or desire. We find nothing strange about this today, it is a classic description of how the marketplace operates. We forget that in Europe, before and during colonial times, there was an upper class and commoners. The upper class was made of owners who made the rules, the commoners were workers who obeyed the rules. If there was a need to be fulfilled the ruling class made that decision. Commoners stayed desperately poor. The wilderness of America changed this hierarchy.

David Strom at Hot Air noticed something in the Democrats’ campaign messaging as the midterm elections draw near. Namely, the emergence of a talking point about how if Republicans win control of Congress they will “crash the economy.” There’s only one reason to say this. Democrats know they’ve set the economy on course to crash and they’re hoping to blame Republicans when it does. Describing Republicans as a threat to democracy hasn’t swayed voters, and not for lack of trying. President Biden gave a speech on Wednesday once again accusing Republicans of this crime. His party has only lost support despite two years of pushing this line.

His show ended in January. "I’ll tell you all this, if I lived in Pennsylvania, I would have already cast my vote for John Fetterman for many reasons," Winfrey said during a virtual conversation with community leaders.

On Sunday, for the first time in my life, I voted Republican and did it without hesitation.
