Twitter employees around the world received
blunt termination notices that differed
on details, leaving workers 'in limbo'

Twitter is notifying its employees over email if they've been laid off. With differing emails going to now-former workers depending on their location. Twitter employees affected by mass layoffs under new owner Elon Musk started to realize they'd lost their jobs late Thursday night, as Insider first reported. While they were told by the company earlier in the day they could expect a "workforce reduction" to begin on Friday morning — after Insider reported on such plans — the cuts began suddenly as employees were cut off from access to work tools like email and Slack. It was not until Friday morning that the employees received promised communication

Receiving full compensation and benefits through February 02, 2023 is not 'limbo.' They can always find another job (during a probable recession,) with the job search and acceptance subject to the contractual obligations set out in the Employment Playbook and Code Of Conduct. Violation (such as double dipping) may result in immediate termination.

I don't like to hear about people losing their jobs. We've been there. Twitter employess can go anywhere. It also appears that most of them are young. Too bad the thousands of oil workers and the business and towns they supported couldn't sue Biden for shutting them down of day one of his administration. Where can they go?

I suspect that a lot of Twitter employees, after working from home for two years in their PJs, thought they were special and their industry was immune from the consequences of a bad economy. Suddenly, they find that they're no better than say the pipefitters thrown out of work when Bidet cancelled the Keystone Pipeline. With so many tech companies either freezing employment or laying off employees, finding another cushy gig might prove challenging. They might even have to go back to work in (gasp!) an office.

Anyone can open an unemployment claim- however! You must report money earned, any money received the week you are certifying- The money received impacts eligibility of weekly benefit amount- Failure to report earnings causes remuneration issues- If I were them- I would establish an unemployment claim- but waive all the weeks until the payment from twit ceases- then start claiming weeks. Because it will prevent late filing- if last day work was November- and you don’t file until February. But, this advice is a just suggestion. The Twit folks are being compensated nicely- considering most of them helped suppress algorithms-

Having been on the end of a termination notice twice. What exactly do these people expect from a notice? All I ever got was a verbal notice delivered to me after the word went out that x number of people were being let go, and in the other case, a short notice in my last paycheck that stated due to financial issues, you are being terminated. In one case, I was given a notice by my boss two weeks before my termination. So, I was expecting to be let go. At least he told me to use him as a reference.

#15, having witnessed the conduct of IT employees at big, profitable companies such as Big Pharma and Big Insurance, their typical workday begins at 9 am, involves a couple of lattes and breaks in the coffee room, long lunches, discussions of the local sports team and a dash or the door at 5 pm sharp, while complaining about the Indian and Chinese suck-ups who didn't mind working a little overtime to complete a project on time. The only time I have ever been fired was when I called my boss a crude word for Gluteus Maximus and smiled the whole way out the door, so my expectations were well met.

Facebook parent Meta could begin large-scale layoffs as soon as Wednesday, according to a report from the Wall Street Journal. The layoffs are expected to impact thousands of employees, the report said, and the move would mark the first major headcount reduction in Meta's history. At the end of September, the company reported that it had more than 87,000 employees. A Meta spokesperson declined to comment and referred CNBC to Zuckerberg's comments on the company's latest earnings call last month. He fired some of the top people right when he came through the door and now he’s firing about half the staff, in an effort to make the site viable for the future. The New Yorker spoke to Republican insiders about the coming election. What they heard was that, as bad as things look for Democrats now, the reality Tuesday is going to be even worse. Author Benjamin Wallace-Wells says the word that kept coming up in his conversations was “bloodbath.” On Wednesday afternoon, I spoke with a leading Republican political consultant about the Senate campaign in Georgia. That race is strategically significant for both parties, but it has a special symbolic importance for Democrats. The incumbent, Raphael Warnock, who for many years has occupied Martin Luther King, Jr.,’s pulpit at Ebenezer Baptist Church, in Atlanta, is seen as a potential national leader

This morning Real Clear Politics (RCP) made its election predictions three days out. RCP averages specific polls with a history of accuracy and produces the RCP average for each race and the generic ballot. Theoretically, averaging historically accurate polls will remove any remaining bias and come closer to predicting the outcome. However, in 2016 and 2020, most polls overestimated the performance of Democrats. Thus, even the RCP average of polls has underestimated Republican performance in recent years. President Joe Biden on Friday signaled his frustration that billionaire Elon Musk had purchased Twitter. “Elon Musk goes out and buys an outfit that spews lies all across the world,” he said. The president commented on Musk’s purchase of the social media platform during a fundraiser in Chicago. “There’s no editors anymore in America,” he added, revisiting a theme he has complained about during this election cycle. In October, Biden lamented the decline of the mainstream media’s ability to control the political narrative. “The ability of newspapers to have much impact is de minimis,” he said at a fundraiser with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, using a Latin phrase that means “lacking significance or importance.”

The GOP is on the brink, I think, of an epic sweep of the 2022 midterm elections. I expect both the House and the Senate to be in Republican hands in January. So, is there a fly in the ointment? There is indeed: Donald Trump is preparing to announce for the 2024 presidential nomination: Former President Donald Trump plans to formally announce his long-teased third run for the White House later this month, two sources told The Post Friday. One source added that Nov. 14, the Monday after the midterm elections, is the likely date the 45th president will launch his bid. Another source said an announcement would come sometime this month

Something’s happening in the suburbs. On the one hand, polls indicate that white suburban women are shifting — hard — toward the Republican Party. On the other, lots more parents are homeschooling their kids, post-pandemic. These phenomena are not unrelated. Suburban women are shifting Republican — by 27 points, a Wall Street Journal poll found, with 74% saying the country’s headed the wrong direction — because the Democrats have let them down. When people complain about taxes, the usual response is something along the lines of “what, you don’t want police and schools?”

Hollywood is rethinking going woke, and the New York Times is crying about it. Neither of these developments is a shock. Hollywood cares about morality as much as a Canadian euthanasia doctor, and the New York Times cares about pleasing the plebs as much as Stalin did about his slaves in the Gulag. Hollywood has been a moral cesspool for decades–at least. Most actors are morally depraved perverts; executives are worse. The casting couch existed long before Harvey Weinstein, and child actors are at the mercy of pedophiles. It’s hard to find a child actor who didn’t come out of the business a mental wreck. People are as disposable as used tissues.
