Flashback: Biden's July Fourth message
drastically different than year ago

President Joe Biden will spend Independence Day staring down arguably his toughest challenge since entering the White House. Historic inflation, coupled with months of legislative setbacks, has saddled the president with his worst approval ratings since entering office. Meanwhile, midterm voters consistently rank the economy as their top priority, and with the looming prospect of losing control of Congress, the White House's messaging sounds totally different than one year prior.

Comments:

FTA: "Historic inflation, coupled with months of legislative setbacks, has saddled the president . . . " Yes - - poor Despicable Joe. He's being "saddled" with problems beyond his control. And the lying NeverTrump pukes at the Excreter are always eager to make excuses for him.

A year ago Biden was living off the legacy of Trump's policies. Once Biden's policies overtook Trump's, he was in a downward spiral.

"So for all those Republicans in Congress criticizing me today for high gas prices in America, are you now saying we were wrong to support Ukraine? Are you saying we were wrong to stand up to Putin? '' -Joe Brandon Uh, the two issues are unrelated. Prior to FJB being in office the US was energy independent and we had no reason to import oil from Russia. The US, Canada, and Mexico have the capacity to produce enough energy, so that Putin can be told to drink his oil. FJB caused this crisis because he is an incompetent fool and a liar. We are still waiting for him to 'shut down the virus' with his ingenious plan.

President Joe Biden on Wednesday bragged about the performance of U.S. stocks during his time in office, as he made a speech in honor of labor unions at the White House. "The stock market has gone up exponentially since I've been president. You haven't heard me say word about it," Biden said, in an apparent reference to former President Donald Trump's frequent comments about the stock market. The S&P 500 SPX, -2.65% has gained about 17% since Jan. 20, the day that Biden was inaugurated.

On Saturday, February 26, the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. opened an exhibition titled Mystery and Faith: The Shroud of Turin. Michael Warsaw, CEO of EWTN, described the importance of this exhibit and said, “Few people will have the opportunity to visit Turin and see the actual Shroud. With its detailed and high-tech facsimile of the Shroud, the Museum of the Bible’s exhibit makes an encounter with one of the great artifacts in human history possible for everyone.”

Has anyone else noticed a strange lacuna in the COVID-19 media Force? As though a single voice with a million appearances on national television has suddenly gone silent? Actually, yes, someone has, but before we get there, let’s take a quick peek at the media page for Dr. Anthony Fauci at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) as of this morning. Up until a couple of weeks ago, Fauci appeared to be very busy indeed.

President Joe Biden used his first State of the Union speech on Tuesday night to call out Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and vowed to tame surging inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden underscored in his 62-minute address that much of the world is united against Russia as he tried to make Americans feel optimistic about the future — despite his first year in office being plagued by economic and public health woes. Here are a few key moments from Biden’s address:

On the 10th anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin, the New York Times has published a video about this tragedy that slanders individuals, sows racial resentments, and impugns the people of the United States en masse. In addition to employing a series of highly deceptive half-truths, the video edits a police recording to make it seem like Martin was murdered and that his killer got away with it because Martin was black. The events underlying the video unfolded on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida in February 2012 when Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old black teen, was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer named George Zimmerman.

A watchdog group is calling for an ethics investigation into Sen. Richard Blumenthal's (D., Conn.) sale of shares of Robinhood, the brokerage company at the center of the "meme stock" speculation frenzy last year. The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) on Monday requested that the Senate Select Committee on Ethics probe Blumenthal's sale of Robinhood shares worth up to $2.5 million. Blumenthal, one of the wealthiest members of the Senate, failed to disclose the trades within the 45 days required under federal law, the Washington Free Beacon reported.

In 2016, voters in California approved a $1.2 billion program to build housing for the homeless. This is a fine idea, and Californians should be applauded for their compassion and generosity. But six years later, only 1,200 units have been built out of the 10,300 that have been paid for. One project under development would cost $837,000 for each housing unit, according to a report published by Los Angeles city controller Ron Galperin. Another 14% of units exceeded $700,000 in cost.

Representative Liz Cheney left the door open on the possibility of a 2024 presidential run on Sunday. Following last year's attack on the U.S. Capitol, the Wyoming Republican emerged as one of the most vocal critics of former President Donald Trump within the Republican Party. She also sits on the House select committee that is investigating the January 6 attack, and has warned against what she views as Trump's negative influence on both the country and GOP. Sen. Mitt Romney penned a Fourth of July op-ed for The Atlantic warning Americans that they're failing to confront serious challenges and that they need to wake up. 'President Joe Biden is a genuinely good man, but he has yet been unable to break through our national malady of denial, deceit, and distrust,' Romney writes. 'A return of Donald Trump would feed the sickness, probably rendering it incurable.' The opinion piece is entitled, 'America Is in Denial,' with Romney pointing to issues like climate change, the border crisis and rising inflation that are getting ignored by large swaths of the population,

Infectious disease experts and public health advocates are warning that the Biden administration has been too slow to respond to the monkeypox outbreak and that the U.S. is at risk of losing control of the disease. The response to monkeypox is mirroring the worst parts of the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, they say, with severely limited testing and a sluggish rollout of vaccines leading to a virus that’s spreading undetected. “Where we have lagged is streamlining testing, making vaccines available, streamlining access to the best therapeutics.(Snip)Unlike COVID-19, monkeypox is not a novel virus, and the strategies to reduce the spread are well known.

President Joe Biden celebrated Independence Day on Monday, but expressed disappointment about ongoing gun violence and the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade. “Liberty is under assault, both here and abroad,” he said, alluding to the Supreme Court. “In recent days, there’s been reason to think this country is moving backward, that freedom is being reduced, that rights we assumed were protected are no longer.” The president delivered a speech to the American people from the White House as part of a barbecue with military service members.

Jump out of a perfectly good airplane, charge a machine gun nest, be stationed at Ft. Irwin – these are just three of the myriad miseries American patriots are willing to endure to defend our country. But today's military is asking too much of our young people, as evidenced by the crashing recruitment rates that threaten to deplete a military already running short of soldiers. Have our young people suddenly turned from heroes to zeros, ne'er-do-well heirs of the brave warriors who confronted the forces of tyrannical gun control at Lexington and Concord?

Yesterday on July 4, Atlantic magazine published an op-ed by Senator Mitt Romney titled "America Is in Denial." Romney began by claiming that Americans tend to be divorced from reality. He cited examples of water being wasted on lawns and golf courses despite reservoirs drying up, and progressive politicians voting to increase government spending despite inflation and growing national debt. After the inane generalities, Romney began inching toward his real target: Donald Trump.

Because Independence Day always makes for a slow news weekend, that leaves room for looking at and thinking about other news stories that wouldn’t normally make the grade at American Thinker. The one that caught my eye was the Daily Mail’s huge photo essay showing the wedding of Charlotte Freud, one of Rupert Murdoch’s granddaughters, to Luke Storey, a rapper. It was held in the exquisitely picturesque English Cotswold district but the photos are a testament to the death of beauty in the modern era. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg is under fire from fellow Democrats for flight delays and cancellations that have paralyzed the nation’s airports, wrecked holiday travel plans and caused Americans undue financial stress. Progressive lawmakers, in particular, say Mr. Buttigieg needs to do more to rein in airline companies that have taken billions in public subsidies since the start of the coronavirus pandemic. “It’s time for the Transportation Department to impose massive fines on poor-performing airlines,” said Sen. Bernard Sanders, a self-described socialist from Vermont.
