President Joe Biden used his first State of the Union speech on Tuesday night to call out Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and vowed to tame surging inflation and the COVID-19 pandemic. Biden underscored in his 62-minute address that much of the world is united against Russia as he tried to make Americans feel optimistic about the future — despite his first year in office being plagued by economic and public health woes. Here are a few key moments from Biden’s address:

Here is my key takeaway - - The Dog Who Didn't Bark. The man who wasn't there - - and who didn't get a mention - - Two-Tongue Tony - - the erstwhile haloed saint of Wuhan flu totalitarianism. It looks like the lunatic left has tossed Two-Tongue Tony onto the no-longer-useful garbage heap - - with Cindy Sheehan, Sandra Fluke, Michael Avenatti, and Ballsie Ford. Sorry Two-Tongue Tony - - your fifteen minutes are up.

When I see Biden speaking, I can't help but think of a thief who comes back to your house to tell you how much he enjoys your TV, jewelry and all of the things he stole from you.

I didn't watch, and will not watch, Biden speak. I have too much respect for my IQ. That being said, what speech writer and administration handlers actually thought it was a good idea, or even thought, Biden could even give a 62 minute speech. A wax figure in a museum looks better and probably has more functioning brain cells. A Max Headroom hologram would have been more coherent from what I've read and what snippets I've watched.

The Lady Chihuahua refused to watch it. She would switch to it only when what she was watching went to commercial. What I saw sounded more of the same. We'll stop Russia with sanctions? When have sanctions ever been successful? How will sanctions stop the armored column moving to Kyiv (that's supposedly the Ukrainian spelling, btw)? Biden wants to bring jobs back to America? Trump said the same thing, but he was more believable. In Biden's case, the jobs will be union jobs only. Biden claimed to create over 6 million jobs. Don't believe that. The economy is trying to rebound from the pandemic when we lost 60 million jobs. Somebody should find out who Biden meets with when back in Delaware. Betting his main visitors are doctors juicing him up. He probably has a staff of private physicians whose main job is to keep Biden upright.

Most positive spin on an old worn out speech that Dems have been spewing since FDR. Create new jobs, pay fair share in taxes. Best economy in the history of the world. Brought that mean old infection to its knees. Might bold talk from a one diaper demented man concerning Putin. Cure cancer (now that Biden single handedly defeated Covid), rebuilt infrastructure with another shovel ready jobs program. Find new stuff to give away for 'free' and spend mo money, mo money, mo money! Oh, and the Rebublicans are evil doers getting in the way of Biden's paradise. Same old speech. Same old results. But at least the Post made it sound like Biden was on top of his game for the first time in his life.

On the 10th anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin, the New York Times has published a video about this tragedy that slanders individuals, sows racial resentments, and impugns the people of the United States en masse. In addition to employing a series of highly deceptive half-truths, the video edits a police recording to make it seem like Martin was murdered and that his killer got away with it because Martin was black. The events underlying the video unfolded on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida in February 2012 when Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old black teen, was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer named George Zimmerman.

In 2016, voters in California approved a $1.2 billion program to build housing for the homeless. This is a fine idea, and Californians should be applauded for their compassion and generosity. But six years later, only 1,200 units have been built out of the 10,300 that have been paid for. One project under development would cost $837,000 for each housing unit, according to a report published by Los Angeles city controller Ron Galperin. Another 14% of units exceeded $700,000 in cost.

But the partnership between China and Russia was strong enough that the Chinese government informed the Kremlin as to what the US knew. It adds more to the questions surrounding what preventative measures President Biden undertook leading up to the invasion of Ukraine earlier this week.CORRECTION*

Republicans in Congress have called for more domestic production to increase the supply of oil in order to reduce the cost.
