Washington (CNN)The US Capitol's attending physician said Sunday that masks will be optional on Capitol Hill starting Monday, just a day before President Joe Biden will deliver his State of the Union address in the House chamber. Citing new guidance from US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Brian P. Monahan said in a memo that "individuals may choose to mask at any time, but it is no longer a requirement."

Comments:

How conveeeenient! I'm sure this decision was made by the "Capitol physician" - - who else would make it? But - - I still hope that the commies and demonrats continue to wear their big, black masks. Who wants to see their evil, ugly faces?

Masks are political theater. Nothing legitimate at all about them. Because of that, I will not be part of their political theater, will never wear a mask again. The last doctor's office visit I had, about 8 months ago, I was told, several times that "masks are required" and I pointedly did NOT wear one. None of the office staff, the nurses or the doctor said a word about it to me in person. You really do not have to go along with their game. Just say "NO". If they get huffy, leave. They need your money.

I expect any Republican Senator or Congressperson of good conscience to be at home watching on TV. A fraudulently-installed President having a fraudulent SOTU address is not something they should attend.

Clinically laughable civilian have been a poltiical statement. They are no more effective than a "Whip Inflatiion Now" lapel pin. Continuing to wear them, especially at the SOTU, would be just a reminder that Biden has not ended the pandemic as promised. They have now outlived their political value.

The doctor may have cleared Congress to not wear masks, but will Nancy Pelosi allow the House by changing her draconian House Rules and fines? She will come up with some excuse. If I were to attend the State of the Union, I would need to wear a mask to hide the look of disgust and other faces I would most likely be making while Biden was spewing his carousel of lies and fantastical myths of accomplishments over the past year.

The HairSniffer will probably have one on, at least until he starts to mumble. Keep up the Kabuki Theater. On the other hand, I have a suspicion that him keeping the mask on makes it more difficult for people to see that what is really there is not a doddering old man, but a Disney animatronic character.

On the 10th anniversary of the death of Trayvon Martin, the New York Times has published a video about this tragedy that slanders individuals, sows racial resentments, and impugns the people of the United States en masse. In addition to employing a series of highly deceptive half-truths, the video edits a police recording to make it seem like Martin was murdered and that his killer got away with it because Martin was black. The events underlying the video unfolded on a rainy night in Sanford, Florida in February 2012 when Trayvon Martin, a 17-year-old black teen, was shot and killed by a neighborhood watch volunteer named George Zimmerman.

In 2016, voters in California approved a $1.2 billion program to build housing for the homeless. This is a fine idea, and Californians should be applauded for their compassion and generosity. But six years later, only 1,200 units have been built out of the 10,300 that have been paid for. One project under development would cost $837,000 for each housing unit, according to a report published by Los Angeles city controller Ron Galperin. Another 14% of units exceeded $700,000 in cost.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention relaxed its mask guidance on Friday, allowing most people to ditch their face coverings so long as Covid-19 hospitalizations in their communities remain low. Under the new CDC guidance, people are advised to wear masks in public areas indoors, including schools, when there’s a lot of virus circulation in their communities that could overwhelm local hospitals. More than 70% of Americans live in communities where wearing masks is no longer recommended under the new CDC guidelines, because hospitals are not under severe threat from disease there.

The three-digit hotline is available in some parts of the country, but a July launch will make it available nationwide as part of an interconnected network of local crisis centers that can respond to calls and texts. Mr. Biden plans to propose nearly $700 million in funding in his fiscal 2023 budget to “staff up and shore up” local crisis centers.

I’m having a problem using the president’s formal title and name together. It’s not a matter of Republican disrespect for a Democrat. I referred to both Barack Obama and Bill Clinton by their presidential titles. It’s a matter of legitimacy. Over half of all Americans now believe that fraud affected the outcome of the last Presidential election. The Arizona election audit didn’t prove that the Donald won, as many hoped. But it did prove that we don’t really know who won that state. Given the election shenanigans around the country in November 2020, there is certainly justification to question the outcome.

President Joe Biden’s nominee to replace Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, apparently refuses to use the term “illegal alien” in her court opinions, opting instead for “noncitizen.” In a handful of immigration-related cases that Jackson has ruled on U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, she has made a note to employ the term “noncitizen” or “undocumented non-citizens” rather than the terms “alien” or “illegal aliens” that are regularly used in court and in federal statutes.
