President Joe Biden is delaying his decision on whether to cancel a substantial amount of federal student loan debt until July or August, it was reported on Monday. The president promised on April 28 to have an answer ready in 'the next couple of weeks.'
Earlier that month, Biden had extended a moratorium on student loan payments and interest that was in place since March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But now he's choosing to move his announcement closer to when that extension expires at the end of August, officials told the Wall Street Journal.

An inside attack on a US military base in Syria that injured four soldiers might have been carried out by a fellow service member, Army officials said. The potential suspect is back stateside as the Army’s Criminal Investigation Division and Air Force Office of Special Investigations probes the April 7 attack on the base called Green Village, an Army spokesperson said. The explosives were put in an ammunition holding area and shower facility. Two officials told CNN the explosives were “not insignificant” and had more detonation power than a hand grenade. The four soldiers were evaluated for possible traumatic brain injuries and other minor injuries.

In the wake of recent mass shootings in New York, Texas, and Oklahoma, Democrats are once again sending Americans up a blind alley. Their “solution” is to punish millions of law-abiding gun owners for the crimes of a few evil maniacs. Undeniably, there is a certain appeal to this response. Gun control is a facile “fix” to a complex problem.
Americans have owned guns since the founding, but it wasn’t until comparatively recently that mass shootings became a concern. Guns are not the problem. Our culture is. There was a major problem with the 2020 Census, and most people probably haven’t heard about it, even though it has enormous implications. At the end of May, the Census Bureau admitted that it miscounted 14 states in the 2020 Census.
Why didn’t the media make a big stink about this story? Maybe it was overshadowed by the recent mass shootings, that’s certainly a possibility, but I have another theory.
Here are the states that the Census acknowledged it overcounted: Hawaii, Delaware, Rhode Island, Minnesota, New York, and Massachusetts.
Here are the states that the Census acknowledged it undercounted: Texas, Illinois, Florida, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas.

As I noted on Thursday, Ilya Shapiro’s reinstatement at Georgetown’s law school may have been a victory for outside pressure against the forces of cancel culture, but it also sent an unambiguous signal that Georgetown would have caved to the mob and fired Shapiro if it was at liberty to do so, and would lie in wait for the first instant that a student found it politically useful to claim offense at Shapiro in order to make that happen once his defenders had let down their vigilance. The group used GPS data to identify cell phones they say were repeatedly in close proximity to ballot drop boxes and also made repeated visits to nonprofit organizations that True the Vote claims could be involved in illegal ballot collection activities.

Pete Buttigieg took questions on Sunday from George Stephanopoulos. This little man with the carefully tweezed eyebrows, sleazy 5:00 shadow, Alfred E. Neuman mien, and orator’s voice hid behind fatuous, hackneyed political babble even as he discretely revealed the hardcore totalitarianism that drives him and, indeed, drives the entire Biden administration. In many ways, Buttigieg is like a Stepford politician. There’s something eerily unreal about the man as, no matter the question, he responds with administration talking points rather than substantive information.

In Ukraine, a hundred days of warfare has passed and the Russians are still there, pounding cities, and not going away. In the east, they appear to be gaining ground in taking control of the Donbas. They still have overwhelming superiority of men and materiel, and the signals from Moscow say no let-up.
Yesterday, the Russians were actually back to shelling Kiev. So much for all that political tourism -- from Jill Biden, to Bono, to Boris Johnson, to Nancy Pelosi... The Russians also destroyed a major grain terminal in Mykolaiv. The ports for exports of Ukrainian grain remain blocked and land transport is gummed up

It’s been almost two years since Pfizer and European drug company BioNTech said early data suggests the vaccine could be more than 90% effective.
It was big news to kick off the week and it led to an immediate 15% surge in the company’s share price
And yet, that same day, Pfizer’s CEO Albert Bourla filed to sell millions of dollars of his company’s stock, coincidentally profiting from this historic announcement.
Indeed, Bourla sold 132,508 Pfizer shares at a price of $41.94, raking in $5.6 million. And another Pfizer insider, Executive Vice President Sally Susman, sold 43,662 shares at the same $41.94 price that Bourla sold at, netting more than $1.8 million.

Two of the senators leading the bipartisan negotiations on gun reform legislation advised against President Joe Biden getting involved in their talks.
In separate interviews Sunday, Sens. Chris Murphy (D-CT) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) rejected the suggestion that including the commander in chief would be useful to their efforts. Asked on CNN's State of the Union whether Biden's involvement would be helpful, Murphy said that the current talks should continue being led by lawmakers on Capitol Hill, rather than the White House. "I think the Senate needs to do this ourselves," the Connecticut Democrat said. "I have talked to the White House every single day since these negotiations began,

Bipartisan investigations are a rarity in Washington, D.C. The constituencies likely to be affected or to suffer collateral damage are usually enough to derail them from gaining momentum. Affix the term “disinformation” to the claim in need of investigation and the chances of a genuine inquiry plummet from hardly ever to "forget about it." Such is the current trajectory of the need to explore the origin of COVID-19.

We’re not supposed to notice that the collectivist actions of one nation’s socialist party just happen to mimic the actions of other nation’s socialist parties or one particular National Socialist German Workers’ Party, that’s just a coincidence, don’t pay any attention to that.
Have you ever noticed that our esteemed national socialist media spends an inordinate amount of time attacking anyone who dares to compare their collectivist actions to other collectivists? Have you also noticed that you can be sure a socialist nation has failed when our nation’s socialist media suddenly decides that it was somehow, someway ‘right-wing’?

Rep. Jim Jordan is never one to mince words. (Snip) After more than a year of attacking Biden as a commander in chief who is bumbling, incompetent, prone to foot-in-mouth, rambling until he is lost, and mentally challenged, Republicans have changed tack as they head into crucial midterm elections that will determine control of Congress.
Now, the most unpopular features of the current American scene — high gas and food prices, transgender mandates and the open border among them — are relentlessly painted as part of the president's and Democrats' deliberate policies.
"The wide-open 'border' is no accident," columnist and London Center fellow Deroy Murdock wrote in a Memorial Day weekend column.

Here is my proposed gun control compromise following the latest attack on children that millions of us did not commit. Ready? You gun fascists can kiss my Schumer and we keep our guns. In fact, let's also repeal the National Firearms Act and impose national constitutional carry. I think this compromise fairly balances our respective legitimate interests regarding guns. Our legitimate interest is maintaining the capacity to deter and defeat tyrants and criminals. Your legitimate interest in limiting our ability to do so is non-existent.
There are several Republicans who are apparently eager to come to a compromise on guns with the Democrats, whose ultimate goal is to

Republican Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis vetoed $35 million in funding to the Tampa Bay Rays sports training and youth tournament facility in Pasco County Thursday after touting their support of a gun control advocacy group.
The Major League Baseball (MLB) team posted a statement claiming a $50,000 commitment to Everytown for Gun Safety’s Support Fund, a pro-gun control advocacy group. The team posted the statement two days after the Uvalde shooting inside Robb Elementary School, which left 19 children and 2 fourth-grade teachers dead.
“This cannot become normal. We cannot become numb. We cannot look the other way. We all know, if nothing changes, nothing changes,” the statement read.

One day historians will look back at the period beginning with the COVID lockdowns of spring 2020 through the midterm elections of 2022 to understand how America for over two years lost its collective mind and turned into something unrecognizable and antithetical to its founding principles.
“Sovietization” is perhaps the best diagnosis of the pathology. It refers to the subordination of policy, expression, popular culture, and even thought to ideological mandates. Ultimately such regimentation destroys a state since dogma wars with and defeats meritocracy, creativity, and freedom.

President Joe Biden saw fit to head to one of his two Delaware beach homes this weekend, adding to the 188 full or partial days away from the White House spent vacationing since he took office. It’s not as if there’s much going on, right? At the rate he’s going, he could become the most highly-vacationed president in US history. When he’s not vacationing in Delaware, he also likes to visit Camp David and Nantucket. His sojourns break down thusly: 130 days in either Rehoboth or Wilmington, Delaware, 52 days at the presidential retreat at Camp David in Frederick, Maryland, and six days on the luxury island of Nantucket.

Sen. Chris Murphy on Sunday said a bipartisan group of senators is “closer than ever before” to coming up with a gun-reform package, but acknowledged it will not include an assault weapons ban or comprehensive background checks. The Connecticut Democrat, who has been involved in the negotiations with his colleagues across the aisle, said he hasn’t seen gun talks as “serious” as those underway now since the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School 10 years ago. He said Democrats and Republicans have agreed to take some “commonsense steps” while still upholding Americans’ Second Amendment rights —

Among major American institutions, the media have had a particularly rough ride over the past year. Public trust in the media’s integrity and performance has soured significantly in recent months, with big media credibility continuing to sink, the latest I&I/TIPP Poll shows.
The most recent data come from our May online nationwide poll of 1,320 adults, taken from May 4-6. The poll has a margin of error of +/- 2.8 points.
Each month since March of 2021, poll respondents have been asked the following two questions:

The largest-ever migrant caravan is beginning its trek to the US-Mexico border. The estimated number of migrants in the caravan ranges from about 11,000 to 15,000. Most of them are women and children. The news of the caravan comes at a particularly awkward time for the Biden administration. Biden’s Summit of the Americas is supposed to begin Monday in Los Angeles.
As often happens with the Biden administration, details about the Summit are murky. As of the middle of last week, the leaders who will attend has not been confirmed. The caravan plans to leave Tapachula, a city on the Mexico-Guatemala border, on Monday,

Seoul, South Korea—The U.S. and South Korean militaries launched eight ballistic missiles into the sea Monday in a show of force matching a North Korean missile display a day earlier that extended a provocative streak in weapons demonstrations. The allies' live-fire exercise involved eight Army Tactical Missile System missiles–one American and seven South Korean – that were fired into South Korea's eastern waters across 10 minutes following notifications for air and maritime safety, according to South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff and U.S. Forces Korea. The ***-for-tat missile launches were aimed at demonstrating the ability to respond swiftly and accurately to North Korean attacks,
