OMAHA BEACH, Normandy - On June 6, 1944, the largest air, land and sea invasion in military history took place on the Normandy coast of France. The Battle of Normandy, often referred to as D-Day and codenamed "Operation Overlord," has been described by historians as a major turning point for the Allied forces in World War II.The 150,000 Allied troops, made up of American, British and Canadian forces, landed on the beaches of Nazi-occupied France and were then able to push inland to Western Europe. The bravery displayed by these troops has been depicted in many books and films, including "Saving Private Ryan" and the book-turned-HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers."

Who cares about D-Day? This is Pride Month now. That's what that war got us; Marxism full-blown, just as we were warned.

My wife and I took an all day private tour of D-Day beaches, and the places that Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Division fought. This company was made famous in the mini-series "Band of Brothers". It was interesting and to look upon those beaches, many miles long, and imagine the hundreds of thousands of troops streaming ashore against vicious machine gun and artillery fire made us understand better what an amazing and brave feat they accomplished.
Much of the mini-series was quite accurate, but there were a few glaring errors, too.
We still remember what they did to stop Hitler. The way things are headed, who knows what we will have to do in our time?

I suggest that everyone watch the opening scene of "Saving Private Ryan" then pull up Ben Affleck's Movie "Pearl Harbor" and go to the sequences of Pearl being bombed. And remember there are people in our government who believe that the Jan. 6th riot is on par with these historical events. RIP to our service members who have passed and thank you to those who continue to protect us. God Bless You.

My uncle, who I spent most summers with when I was a pre-teen in the 50's, landed at Omaha beach. He was very quiet, and never said anything about his time in service. The only thing he said to me , when I was visiting right after my 1961 class trip to SE Asia, was a sarcastic, "Here comes the general" as I walked through the door with my mother. I was kind of put out at the time. I can't imagine what he saw or went through, but I saw pictures my mother had from him that he brought back. Over the years, I've gained a lot of respect for the man. Now, all I can think of are the weenies living in their moms basements, crying about every little slight to their fragile egos and realize we'd be speaking German if we had to do it today and depend on them!
As for pride month, Poster #1, it's just a good way to identify the perverts and stay away from them and their woke causes and businesses!

I suspect if you asked many young college students about Omaha Beach they would not have clue what you are referring to. They are too worried about using the correct "pronoun" on campus.

I knew two fine NCOs who participated in “Overlord “. One, with the 101st , the other with the 82nd. Wonderful mentors.

I had one of those too, #4. Came back very much a changed person, would never talk about what he'd been through. Our great allies the Soviets, for their part, thanked us for the help by spreading communism throughout Europe and into the USA. Patton was right.

One amazing thing is the hedgerows growing throughout the French countryside were on overlooked obstacle. In some areas they had been growing for hundreds of years and were impenetrable. Eventually the Allies used tanks and other military vehicles to get through the thick shrubbery.

#7. I suspect that if one asks any high school or college student as well as many of their parents about Omaha Beach, they might assume it's a new place to go on vacation or spring break.

My dad was a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne. He took part in D-Day. He didn't talk much about the war. He got drunk every June 13th because he had 6 drinks in memory of six guys in his unit that were killed on that day. He had been called away for a meeting and they were killed when a plane dropped bombs on them, he would have been killed also but wasn't there. He was wounded in July, he was in hand to hand combat with a German fighting over a rifle. The German had stabbed him in the hand with his bayonet then the rifle went off in my Dad's hand. Someone killed the German. My dad was sent back to England and then back to the States. His hand was permanently crippled. The doctors pieced his fingers back together but his hand looked like a claw for the rest of his life.

I had an uncle who hit Omaha Beach. As we got older and began to learn about WWII, we were told never to bring it up.

My dad wasn't there. He was in the US Army's 84th Infantry, 335th Regiment, and a rifleman in Belgium preparing for his company's role in the Battle of the Bulge. As he described it (only twice in his lifetime when we were kids), it was hell on earth. Most of his platoon members were killed on a barge crossing the Rohr River, except him, and his buddy Norbie who was shot up so bad, he lost various body parts but survived somehow. Hence, I am gratefully here writing this. Thanks to my dad.

My grandfather landed with American Forces at Utah Beach, the farthest West of the five landings sites. Omaha Beach was the most challenging of the landing sites taking the most casualties.
Considering this was 78 years ago, most of those involved are in their mid-upper 90's in age or now gone from this Earth.
Poster #1's message is very sobering. My father was in Operation Torch in November of 1942 and went into Sicily and then into Rome. He passed in 2008 before NoBama/JoeBamaBiteMe decided to destroy what those men and women fought against and so many people with no common sense seem hellbent on installing here.

Surprised that the article didn't mention the best movie ever made (in my opinion) about D-Day. The Longest Day had so many stars in it that they had to be listed alphabetically. Absolutely terrific film. A friend of mine landed at Normandy and fought all the way through the Battle of the Bulge. He didn't talk about it much. Such bravery.
