President Biden will invoke the Defense Production Act to spur domestic production of clean energy technology and order a two-year tariff exemption on solar panels imported from Southeast Asian countries in a bid to tackle rising energy prices. The move will accelerate production of solar panel parts, building insulation, heat pumps that more efficiently regulate the climate in buildings and equipment for making fuel cells and other electricity-generated fuels. Mr. Biden also will waive tariffs on solar panels imported from four Southeast Asian countries in a move to nudge Americans toward green alternatives amid rising energy prices.(Snip)The tariff announcement comes after a months-long investigation

No doubt Biden and his cronies are heavily 'invested'.
Know of someone that converted their house to solar. It was cheap because the state subsidized it. They say they save 200-300 dollars a month on their electric bill. Don't know how to argue against solar.
Don't see solar going away which leads me to ask where will it be in 10-20 years once the problems are ironed out?
Time will tell if this is the future, or another boondoggle gone bust.

The tariffs were put in place to accelerate domestic production of solar panels, I'm sure removing the tariffs will only do the opposite to what Biden says which is par for a commie.

How, for the love of Pete, is that going to lower the cost of anything but stuff nobody uses? Biden's handlers are complete idiot ideologues with no grasp on reality. We've got 3 more years of this crap and I don't know if we'll make out the other side.

Solar is a sensible piece of the national energy strategy - not the be all end all. Worth the investment in SoCal and Arizona where the sun shines brightly for 300+ days every year. Let New Englsnd and the Great White North stick to fossil. Clearly, maby besides the Big Guy are maling big bucks off the green push.

There will be a lot of money to be made in China with Biden’s assistance, how much of that money will bounce back into the Biden crew’s pockets will be anyone’s guess.

Another abuse of the DPA...with precedent provided by PDT for ventilators during the "War on COVIDS"...fully supported by "real Conservatives". The DPA will now be used, as some opined back then, as an excuse for all sorts of government intervention in the economy for its purposes. With each use/abuse government further scratches the surface. People just can't see the obvious for what it will become.

Getting more solar panels that warm up everything around them, sometimes setting fires to stores roofs, seems like the perfect way to fight the fictional global warming. But at least they let you keep your lights on longer at night.

This will impact the supply chain problems as nearly all of this "new" production will flow on the cargo vessels.
There is ample space on top of warehouse buildings, parking structures(top floor), mall parking lots, shopping mall rooftops, and all sorts of government buildings and parking areas, that should be used in massive installation of solar panels.
This likely alters the dynamics of the impact of using gasoline and natural gas for their current use.
And, it would be what's truly considered an investment by the government.

It's of national strategic importance to push Americans to use an expensive, unreliable energy source that's cost us a fortune the last time President Obama pushed this (Solyndra et al), and also to buy them from China with labels saying they're made in Cambodia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam (third world nations can make them, but not USA without massive subsidies). Which nations's national strategic interest is served by this is none of our concern; stop thinking and celebrate the Green.
