The city’s high school application process is now a crapshoot — and top grades barely matter. One month before the application deadline, the Department of Education unveiled its long-awaited new admission system, lowering the bar for entry into many competitive high schools—and tossing kids with a range of academic achievement into a random hopper.(Snip)Amy Nicolas, a straight-A Catholic school eighth-grader, is aiming for Townsend Harris HS in Queens or another top-ranked public school. “I’m definitely worried about my chances. Barack Obama has been pictured at his new multimillion-dollar Hawaii mansion for the very first time, but he did not yet appear to be on island time. Far from being in beach mode, Obama appeared to be deep in conversation as he spoke with workers from local building firm Armstrong Builders, who are currently constructing his beachfront compound on the island of Oahu. Dressed in beige pants and a grey polo shirt, Obama looked tense as he was pictured speaking with builders and architects. The former president could be seen scowling as he chatted Saturday with at least four developers who were working on the project.

Independent journalist Ali Bradley interviewed Sister Norma Pimentel of Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley concerning the non-governmental organization’s funding of airline tickets for illegal immigrants and how taxpayer money is being used to subsidize it.The reporter previously interviewed Sister Pimentel in August. The revelation concerning the NGO sparked further outrage over the Biden administration facilitating the transporting of illegal immigrants from the southern border to towns and cities across the nation. The administration has been secretly flying them in the dead of night without notice for months. Catholic Charities appears to be supporting the illegal activity on moral grounds.

In the middle of Paris’s third Covid lockdown last March, a hashtag appeared on Twitter with a photo of a lock on the Canal Saint-Martin that runs through the north of the city clogged with litter, plastic bags and bottles. Images of Paris looking worse for wear are nothing new but, within days, dozens of pictures of overflowing bins, broken pavements and graffiti-covered walls appeared with the same hashtag–#SaccageParis–which roughly translates as Trashed Paris. It really does seem like something out of a modern-day Monty Python skit. Officials in the city of Quebec City, Canada were fearful the pesky unwashed peasants might make their way to the parliament buildings, so they blocked the passages and sent guards to ensure no one could traverse the ramparts.Good grief, if the politicians only had a drawbridge, you could be sure they would have pulled it up to keep the peasants away and survive the siege. In an effort to retain their tenuous grip on power, Canadian officials have become a modern parody of medieval times.

Canadians have done as they were told during the pandemic. They lined up for shots until the country had one of the developed world’s best vaccination rates; they endured some of North America’s longest lockdowns; and they’ve complied with a wide assortment of curfews and quarantines. Will the definition of “fully vaccinated” have to change again? For the last several months, the CDC has urged all Americans to not just get the original vaccination regimen (two mRNA shots or one Johnson & Johnson inoculation) but also a booster shot in order to resist serious or severe acute infections of COVID-19. Now, however, a New York Times analysis of new CDC data shows that boosters may only make a difference in older and/or sicker Americans:
The figures confirm that booster doses are most beneficial to older adults, as the C.D.C. has previously reported. But the new numbers for younger Americans were less compelling.

Last week, Sen. Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) suffered a stroke and underwent brain surgery. He is currently hospitalized in Albuquerque. He is expected to return to the U.S. Senate in four to six weeks, assuming there are no further medical complications. However, during his absence, Democrats no longer have a majority in the Senate—Republicans have a 50-49 majority.
This means that until Luján returns, a united GOP can block the Democrats’ agenda and there’s nothing the Democrats could do about it.
This is actually a big deal. In addition to blocking the Democrats’ legislative agenda, Luján’s absence could potentially impact Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nomination.

Make no mistake, the recent Joe Rogan vs. Spotify scandal is not about COVID and what constitutes proper medical protocols to fight it. It’s about the future of free speech in America.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki’s statement on Tuesday, directing Big Tech and Spotify to do “more” to eradicate alleged COVID “misinformation” on the “Joe Rogan Experience” podcast, suggests that the future of the First Amendment is bleak. A representative of a ruling party dictating to a private company what content is “accurate” and what is not, is a clear sign that the US government has embraced censorship. Just like the Soviets, the benevolent authoritarians want to “protect” you

President Joe Biden will return to his Greenville home on Friday night at around 6:30 p.m. The White House schedule indicates that the president will depart from Andrews Air Force base and fly to New Castle Airport with Air Force One the likely aircraft, rather than the Marine One helicopter. (Snip) Biden’s frequent weekend visits to Delaware provide a modest boost to the Wilmington-area economy, thanks to the presence of staff and media that accompany his travels. He has been the target of criticism for the weekend visits. Supporters point to the relatively short distance between the White House and

From Jeff Bezos to Joe Biden, noted Sinophiles and racists litter the landscape of the Left. For where there is slavery (China), and racist social division to be sown (America), there is enormous profit to be made.
It is an established fact that leading Democrats are cliche-spewing tools who emote out of the southern end of their alimentary canals and whose neurotic hysteria sets the national agenda. Yet, they have amassed quite a lemminglike following of true believers, progressive foot soldiers who think things have not gone "far enough" in terms of silencing, humiliating, and otherwise eliminating the universal scourge of "whiteness itself."

A top Republican who was censored and temporarily suspended by Twitter for controversial statements about a transgender government official said the platform dealt with him in a contradictory manner and unfairly targeted him as a conservative.
Republican Rep. Jim Banks of Indiana had his official Twitter account temporarily suspended for a few weeks in October for allegedly misgendering Department of Health and Human Services assistant secretary for health Rachel Levine, who is a transgender woman. According to a screenshot posted of the censored tweet, Banks said “the title of first female four-star officer gets taken by a man,”

The North Carolina state Supreme Court rejected a congressional district map passed by the state legislature, ruling that the legislature created an unconstitutional partisan gerrymander. The map, passed along party lines, created ten safe seats for Republicans and three safe seats for Democrats, with one competitive district. Democratic officials immediately challenged the map in the Wake County Circuit Court, where Republicans initially won. The plaintiffs were represented by the Elias Law Group, an elections litigation firm founded by prominent Democratic attorney Marc Elias.

ESPN star J.A. Adande had some absolutely bonkers thoughts on China’s human rights record.
Right now, the Olympics are going on in the communist country, and lots of people are upset that games are being held in a country with such horrific treatment of people.
Well, Adande thinks Americans shouldn’t speak out against the crimes of the CCP!

Former President Donald Trump lashed out at his vice president for saying he had 'no right' to overturn Biden's 2020 win, claiming he is 'right and everyone knows it.' Trump, 75, bashed Mike Pence, 62, in another political row over the 2020 election results, calling the former VP an 'automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell.' 'Just saw Mike Pence’s statement on the fact that he had no right to do anything with respect to the Electoral Vote Count, other than being an automatic conveyor belt for the Old Crow Mitch McConnell to get Biden elected President as quickly as possible,' Trump wrote in a statement.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk accused GoFundMe of hypocrisy after the company canceled the Freedom Convoy fundraiser on Friday after it actively supported a campaign for the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest in Seattle. The crowdfunding platform claimed the convoy fundraiser - which raised $10million Canadian dollars ($8 million USD) in support of truckers protesting against COVID-19 vaccine mandates - violated its terms of service 'which prohibits the promotion of violence and harassment.' GoFundMe plans to distribute the remaining $9million of donated funds to 'credible and established charities' that were reportedly chosen by the convoy organizers and have been verified by the platform.

When new inmates arrive in California state prisons, they pass through the gauntlet of other men and must make a quick decision: With whom do they stand? They have four options: the whites, the blacks, the Latinos and the others. For most of the “fish,” or fresh convicts, it’s not much of a choice — they are chosen. The prisons are divided into strictly separated racial gangs, which have their own leadership structure, lunch tables, yard space and black markets.New inmates typically fall in with their racial brothers: whites with whites, blacks with blacks, Latinos with Latinos. The only exceptions are those who join the others:

Republican Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin visited a Safeway in Alexandria on Friday to talk about his plan to eliminate the state’s grocery tax, thus helping people who are currently being crushed by Joe Biden’s inflation on everything including food.
From The Hill:
“Today is about tackling the high costs in Virginia — the high costs I believe are unnecessarily borne by those that can afford it the least,” Youngkin said.
“People talk about the supply chain disruption, but we’re just seeing added costs in the supply chain as well,” he added.
Youngkin plans to cut the 2.5 percent tax on groceries in Virginia as well as the gasoline tax.

“Bring out the best.” If you’re unfamiliar with the famous slogan, take a closer look at the featured image, above. Hellmann’s mayonnaise has been “bring(ing) out the best” in America for more than 100 years.

Oh, and Erlbacher also called Solberg’s brother to tell him he had just killed Solberg.

Mayor Eric Adams apologized for a 2019 video where he called white police officers 'crackers.'
Adams, 61, was caught bragging about being an 'unbelievably' good police officer compared to his white colleagues at a 2019 event in East Harlem where he was announcing he was going to run for mayor.
'Every day in the police department, I kicked those crackers’ a**,' he said in the recently resurfaced video. 'Man, I was unbelievable in the police department with 100 Blacks in Law Enforcement.'

Peter Schweizer is an Oxford graduate, former Hoover Institution Fellow, and cofounder and president of the Government Accountability Institute of Tallahassee, Florida. He is a widely read and interviewed investigative journalist and has authored popular and well received books on political corruption: Clinton Cash, Extortion, Throw Them All Out, and Architects of Ruin.
The book is the usual fare from Schweizer — based on well documented and researched financial records that support assertions of the author. In this book, the focus is corruption in high places that results from cozy entanglements with China.

A few days ago, Politico.com reported that The New York Times was suing the Biden’s State Department for withholding correspondence mentioning Hunter Biden which is in possession of the US Embassy in Romania.
In its lawsuit, filed in federal court in Manhattan, the NYT states that they had on two separate occasions placed requests, under the Freedom of Information Act.
The State Department had responded that the requested records would be provided only after April 15, 2023. The law requires all federal agencies to respond to a FOIA request within 20 business days unless there are "unusual circumstances."

When some has-been hippies decided to see if they could leverage themselves into renewed fame by attacking Joe Rogan for daring to post interviews countering Anthony Fauci, Rogan groveled. He apologized and agreed to have warnings posted on his content. Once you start down that road, you’ve already lost. Alert people have noticed that 70 of Rogan’s podcasts have mysteriously vanished. It seems that they’ve done so because in older podcasts he offended today’s racial sensibilities. One wonders what will go next.
Joe Rogan is far and away the most popular media personality in America.

CNN is dying. Its president, Jeff Zucker, was just fired. (Or, rather, he “resigned.”) The network’s viewership is plummeting, and fewer than 500,000 people on average tuned in last month. I went to dinner a few times with him and then-wife Jane Fonda. In their Bugatti restaurant we had bison steaks and talked about his growing global news empire.

Vitamin D may help fight off coronavirus after all, a study suggests. The jury has been out on the 'sunshine vitamin' since early in the pandemic, with conflicting findings muddying the waters. Papers that did find a link were deemed not rigorous enough and not definitive. But a new study—this time in Israel—claims to have the most conclusive evidence yet. Previous research has been criticised for only looking at vitamin D levels when the Covid patient was already in hospital.(Snip)To overcome this limitation, in their latest study, researchers from Bar Ilan University and the Galilee Medical Center looked at patient records up to two years before

Four weeks ago, OneAmerica insurance company CEO Scott Davison revealed that they had witnessed 'the highest death rates in the history of this business—not just at OneAmerica' with a jump of '40% over what they were pre-pandemic.' Interestingly, Davison noted that the majority of deaths are not classified as due to Covid-19. The implication to many was clear—that the Covid-19 vaccine is linked to the excess mortality, and months of vaccine injury reports were now spilling over to actuarial data—which is beginning to show, among other things, that younger, working-age people began dying in greater numbers as vaccine mandates hit

The US State Department is waiving sanctions on Iran's civilian nuclear program in the hope that Tehran will return to the 2015 nuclear agreement, a senior official said Friday. As U.S. negotiators head back to Vienna for what could be a make-or-break session, Secretary of State Antony Blinken signed several sanctions waivers related to Iran's civilian nuclear activities. The move reverses the Trump administration's decision to rescind them. The resumption of the waiver, ended by Trump in 2020, 'would be essential to ensuring Iran's swift compliance' if a new deal on controlling Tehran's nuclear program can be reached in talks in Vienna, the State Department official said

Discovery CEO David Zaslav is doing some explaining of the latest news reports coming out of CNN’s Jeff Zucker’s exit. Zaslav says he had nothing to do with it, contrary to reports. Also, when he called CNN ‘the leader of news to the left’, he meant “the ‘left’ side of the company portfolio, with sports being on the ‘right’.”
Got it. Zaslav sees the news on the left and sports on the right. Sadly, we know that even sports can’t be characterized as more conservative than news, in general, these days with political activism so regularly easing into sports reporting.

A new study from Johns Hopkins University’s Institute for Applied Economics supports what I and others have long maintained: lockdowns do not work, and their economic, social, educational, and psychological costs far outweigh any health benefits they might bring.Early in the pandemic, epidemiological modelers predicted catastrophic casualties that could be averted only with stringent lockdown measures. In response, nearly every country around the world imposed lockdown measures by the end of March 2020. Yet little evidence existed to support such actions, and the modeling studies were fatally flawed.
