As many athletes watch their Olympic dreams get dashed by a positive COVID test, more and more are taking to social media and speaking out against the conditions of the Beijing “quarantine hotels” into which they are being forced to check in.“My stomach hurts, I’m very pale and I have huge black circles around my eyes,” said Valeria Vasnetsova, a Russian athlete competing in the biathlon, in an Instagram post shared from isolation. “I want this all to end. I cry every day. I’m very tired.” Thursday, Vasnetsova posted a picture of her food tray. On it sat a bit of plain pasta, some charred meat, a sprinkling of potatoes,

Is anyone shocked? They’re in a communist country. Their own country will not protect them except for token efforts. They should not be there.

Wow, Olympians who test positive are getting the Chinese covid treatment. Don't complain, you could get the Uighur treatment. Eat your slop and get on with it. Don't complain, suck it up buttercups. Cry babies.

I bet this is upsetting the rest of you too. I had not thought before but of course the food for athletes competing against Chinese will be sparse and of poor quality!
It is a dark day that the Western, freedom-loving countries even agreed to support this Olympics. How could any Americans agree to go over there at all?

I hope young American athletes are getting a little taste of what's in store if they vote Democrat.

Have a good time. You asked for it.

The ChiCom version of the Olympics provides the 100% blueprint for how democrats wish to "manage" Covid here in the USA. Biden is so jealous he cannot easily wield such power over the American "coolies," for fear of "gun violence" against the persistently emerging communist state that democrats are pushing. That is why he's testing the waters with his non-absolute 2A rhetoric, joined by the whiney AOC in denouncing the very economic system that made America great.

In the end everyone will cone down with Covid except the CCP team. Just like the Russians in the 1979-1980s. Those who don’t get Covid will be tired and malnourished and unable to be competitive. We warned them!

I really don't understand.
Baseball pulled the all-star game out of Atlanta because of the GA voting reform
BUT, the USA Olympics did not pull out of the China winter games because of their voting policies.
There have been times when athletes defect to a freedom-loving country.
Do you think any of the Olympic athletes will defect to China?

One way to "beat" other countries' athletes...provide garbage food and unpleasant living conditions.
A smart Olympic team would have their own chefs and their own food to keep this from affecting their performance.

My daughter and I spent 14 days in a government quarantine hotel in Incheon, South Korea this past June and the meals were not good. It felt like a prison with alarms on the door, a loud speaker that made announcements several times a day and poor food quality (every meal was cold with no way to heat it, very little protein, little to no fruit and the “greens” were inedible). Why anyone would go to China and think it would be better than a democracy like Korea is beyond me. I will never travel to another country that has forced quarantine again and I highly recommend nobody else do so either.

The Chinese believe they are invincible and can treat anyone however they wish. After all, they unleashed a deadly virus on the world without any consequences, not even a public rebuke. Whatever happens to these athletes China has the perfect out, they were just protecting everyone from the virus they created! My goodness the world looks weak in the face of these allegations.
The IOC bears responsibility for the decision to award China with the games. After what they have done, it is unthinkable that now they have athletes and coaches from all over the world under their control. What is anyone going to do about this appalling situation? Absolutely nothing because they are afraid of China.
Sometimes principle is more important than a sports victory and this is one of those times. What the Chinese have done to these athletes merits a strong response from the countries whose athletes are caught up in this inhumane treatment. Why not show some courage and send a message to the world by pulling your country out of the games? Present a united front and get out of that communist hellhole. This horrific regime is committing genocide and show no sign of stopping. Isn’t it about time that the world took a stand against this? Of course it will never happen. China has bought and paid for so many politicians and corporate elites around the world that they know they dare not cross them. This is what happens when you abandon your principles in order to lie down with an evil communist regime whose one goal is to dominate the entire world. If any of these countries had any core values, they would have boycotted the games so I don’t expect them to demand better treatment for their athletes. That the West continues to pet the Chinese dragon is a clear indication of their shameful submission to this evil regime. I refuse to watch one moment of the games and these revelations confirm it was the right decision. Pull out of the games. Take a stand against this inhumane treatment. Show some courage!

As far as sporting events go the Winter Olympics rate up there with the WNBA in viewership in my house. Since it’s in China I really haven’t watched it. So I have zero sympathy for any athlete who participates in this farce.

I tried to remember the last time I watched the Olympics. I could not remember the dates. I vaguely recollected watching some guy shoot a fire arrow into a bowl of lighter fluid.

They chose unwisely. Years ago I worked with a female pioneer blazing a trail in commercial construction who was lured away from BoCon (Boeing Construction) out of Seattle. She asked me to help move some crapola to her apt. I got there and noticed this really expensive bike in her living room. After admiring this thing, she told me it was her "boyfiend/roommate's" who was working on entering the Tour De France. I asked what he did for a living and she said, " All he does is train". Now, she was a very smart lady, but it was obvious this "athlete" was taking advantage of a not-too-pretty and desperate sponsor..
At the Olympic level, if your parents aren't rich, you're nothing but a small time Gigilo or cheap Ho waiting until the Sugar Daddy sponsor's your professional lifestyle.
