As RedState reported this morning, Joe Biden has officially surrendered on COVID-19. No, that’s not right-wing spin. Rather, the president literally admitted that there is no federal solution to the coronavirus, asserting that the solutions will be at the state level.
For many of us, it was a major “I told you so” moment going back not just months, but all the way back to spring of 2020 when it already appeared likely that you weren’t going to control the spread of the virus. Yet, we’ve been playing a ridiculous game of mandates and lockdowns ever since, with some coming from the federal government. But with cases exploding

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Monday shortened the recommended times that people should isolate when they've tested positive for Covid-19 from 10 days to five days if they don't have symptoms -- and if they wear a mask around others for at least five more days.
The CDC also shortened the recommended time for people to quarantine if they are exposed to the virus to a similar five days if they are vaccinated. People who are fully vaccinated and boosted may not need to quarantine at all, the CDC said.
"Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening

Fear porn over COVID has driven some people into wild responses. As we noted, there are some folks flooding emergency rooms in Vermont despite being asymptomatic and other people suffering from a pandemic of fear of the virus.
On Christmas Day we wrote about the melee that occurred on a Delta flight from Tampa to Atlanta on December 23.
A woman became infuriated that an elderly man was not wearing a mask on the flight. He said that he was eating at the time. She started screaming at him to put his mask on, a verbal back and forth ensued, with him telling her to “Sit down, Karen”

Two Jewish men were attacked as “dirty Jews” in Brooklyn—before one of them was punched in the face for sporting an Israel Defense Forces sweatshirt, the pair told The Post Monday. Blake Zavadsky and his friend Ilan Kaganovich, both 21, were at the Foot Locker in Bay Ridge shortly before 11 a.m. Sunday when they were allegedly accosted by two attackers. “They asked us what we were doing in their neighborhood,” Zavadsky said. “They called us ‘dirty Jews.'”
He said they took particular issue with his hoodie that featured the emblem of the Israeli military forces. “The one who punched me said if I don’t take my sweatshirt off,

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene denounced Kwanzaa as a “fake religion” just as millions of Black people start to celebrate the weeklong holiday. The far-right Georgia lawmaker berated the national College Republicans for “pandering and BS” after the GOP group tweeted a seemingly innocuous happy holiday message. “Stop. It’s a fake religion created by a psychopath,” Greene said. “People are tired of pandering and BS.” She was apparently deriding Kwanzaa founder Prof. Maulana Karenga, who was convicted of felony assault in the 1960s in what he says was a politically motivated prosecution spurred by his involvement in Black nationalist politics. Greene suggested that the College Republicans should avoid political correctness

A society is defined by the things it wishes were true, or perhaps believes actually are true, though perhaps in a non-obvious sense. Take Santa Claus, the bearded benefactor presiding over a supply chain of elves at the North Pole, who stands in for doting parents the world over who by dint of saving and self-denial give presents to their children on Christmas Eve. Santa represents a concept of love, charity, and sacrifice that is hard to explain to little children or indeed adults, so society instead describes a magical man in a red suit riding a sleigh pulled by reindeer. The left, on the other hand, regards Santa

The MTA is not ready to handle the influx of tolling complaints expected from congestion pricing, the authority’s inspector general suggested Monday. Transportation Authority officials have done little to study the underlying causes of thousands of toll complaints and are playing catch-up to develop a “modern information system” by the start of Central Business District Tolling in 2023.
MTA Bridges and Tunnels “does not have a reliable way to detect systemic issues,” IG Carolyn Pokorny said.(Snip)The introduction of cashless tolling across New York state spurred outrage when some motorists racked up hundreds of thousands of dollars in fines—sometime unjustly—for failing to pay violations in time.

An Indiana mother rebuked woke bail funds after a cocaine and burglary suspect was freed and 'murdered her son.' New details have emerged about “Dallas Buyers Club” filmmaker Jean-Marc Vallée’s unexpected passing. The 58-year-old director is believed to have died from a heart attack at his cabin outside Quebec City over Christmas, sources told Deadline. The “Big Little Lies” filmmaker was prepping to host guests over the weekend, sources said, adding that it is likely he died Dec. 25 and was found the following morning. Vallée was a health enthusiast, who abstained from drinking, worked out constantly and practiced Wim Hof’s extreme breathing methods, which involve holding one’s breath for long periods of time, often in frigid environments. Tributes poured in for the director Monday

The Brooklyn Museum has added a new feature to its 1776 oil-on-canvas painting of Continental Army Gen. George Washington—a description card that notes his ownership of slaves despite defending the self-evident truth that all men are created equal.

It was painted by Charles Willson Peale and commissioned by Continental Congress President John Hancock just before he famously signed the Declaration of Independence.(Snip)“Washington enslaved more than 300 people prior to and during his tenure as the nation’s first president,” the card reads in part.

I ask an uncomfortable question. Why isn't Michael Byrd on trial? He shot and killed Ashli Babbitt during a mostly peaceful protest inside the Capitol on January 6.
Three trials this year beg this question.
The most recent trial ended last week when a jury convicted Kim Potter, who while a police officer shot and killed a driver who was trying to leave the scene after he was pulled over by the cops. Potter said she mistook her gun for a taser. While that may be true, nevertheless the jury found her guilty of first-degree and second-degree manslaughter.
The first of the three trials was of Derek Chauvin who was convicted of killing

Jim Jordan, appearing on Fox News’s “Sunday Morning Futures” program, had some harsh words for the Brandon Administration, which he said has “done everything wrong.
Beginning his remarks, he warned that “Elizabeth Warren seems to be hinting at price controls.”And what does that mean for the average American? As he put it, “And we know what that will do. That will only exacerbate the problems we see out there.”That is, of course, the opposite of what the average American wants. As Jordan put it, “So, in simple words, I think the American people would like — they’d like safe streets, they’d like affordable gas, and they’d like freedom.”

A poll released Monday shows powerful Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell hemorrhaging GOP support, less than a year until the 2022 midterm elections.
McConnell came in dead last in Gallup's new survey ranking 11 federal officials by their job approval ratings. His 34 percent public approval is lower than that of President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
But while the three top Democrats in government found majority support among their own party's voters, the Kentucky Republican is trailing in the GOP sphere.
Just 46 percent of McConnell's fellow Republicans approve of his job in the Senate, while a decisive 52-point majority disapprove.

It’s been more than 70 years since this actress has appeared in a movie’s credits — for a good reason.
Karolyn Grimes starred in the Christmas classic “It’s a Wonderful Life” as James Stewart’s precocious 6-year-old daughter Zuzu Bailey.
The part in the 1946 Frank Capra-directed film changed Grimes’ life, but not necessarily for the better. The now-81-year-old has revealed the tragic reason why she decided to leave Tinseltown.
Her departure from the limelight began with the loss of both her parents when she was about 12 years old, she told Fox News.
Following her parents’ death, Grimes moved from Hollywood to a small town in Kansas.

Energy prices exploded in 2021, and 2022 may bring a repeat unless the Biden administration changes its anti-fossil fuel agenda. Canceled pipelines and drilling moratoriums have created a toxic environment for U.S. oil and gas investment. Because of this, the U.S. will be undersupplied in the new year unless the omicron variant shuts us down or if rising costs drive the economy into a recession. If these shadows of our current energy policy remain unaltered, then oil prices should surge to just shy of $100 a barrel next year.

Joe Biden, first as a candidate and then in the White House, from the outset saw the COVID-19 pandemic mainly as a means of leveraging political support, from the manner in which the lockdowns allowed him to run a virtual campaign from his basement to equating Donald Trump with the COVID-19 virus.
Like many on the Left, Biden was overt in such cynicism. So were Hillary Clinton, Gavin Newsom, and Jane Fonda—who claimed that COVID was a “never-let-a-crisis-go-to-waste” moment. Panic and lockdowns could help achieve single-payer health care, or a recalibrated capitalism, or the end of Donald Trump himself.

Leaving California for Texas is such a conformist thing to do these days, but I did for a short vacation to America. In Houston, I went into an H.E.B. and was talking about California to someone who was giving away free samples of beef – having conversations with random people is a huge difference from LA – and I had to reassure the guy I was going home. He seemed relieved. I’ve been coming to Texas intermittently for about 30 years, and it’s never seemed more crowded. The place is packed – the roads, the stores, the airport. Back home in LA, it’s empty and depressing

According to a friend at a Christmas party, “obscene” wealth is the kind that’s unneeded. His example was a 100-foot yacht. “Nobody needs a 100-foot yacht,” he intoned.
I agreed that nobody needs a 100-foot yacht. But nobody needs a glass of expensive chardonnay either. I kindly offered to relieve him of the one he was holding.
The only things that are truly needed by humans are food, shelter, simple clothing and occasional medical treatment. Everything beyond that is unneeded and, therefore, under my friend’s definition, obscene.
So “obscene” wealth must mean something other than the unneeded kind. But what?

Through December 21, 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a total of 5,779 unruly passenger incidents this year. Of these incidents, the FAA has launched 1,054 investigations, which is approximately a 600% increase from the annual average of the previous twenty-five years.
Historically, factors such as overcrowding, cancellations, and narrow seats cause in-flight incidents. However, this year, the mask mandate, which the FAA instituted on February 1, has been the major factor causing the massive increase in incidents.
Despite a multitude of studies showing the ineffectiveness of masks and the potential negative health effects, some airlines are now increasing their restrictions and forcing passengers to wear masks while eating and drinking.

On December 24, Biden gave America the gift of self-denunciation. When Jared Schmeck, along with his son, called the NORAD number that Joe and Mrs. Jill Biden were manning, Schmeck puckishly ended the call by saying “Let’s go, Brandon.” The feckless Biden echoed this sentiment, adding delightfully, “I agree.” It was a prank but it was enough to enrage the Democrat party praetorian guard (i.e., the media). They identified Schmeck as if he’d aimed a gun at Biden’s head, and then proceeded to attack him viciously, including doxing him. The peak media madness, though, came when a CNN talking head said Schmeck’s prank constituted an “insurrection.”

There’s an old joke that asks what the difference is between God and a doctor, the answer being that God doesn’t think He’s a doctor. It’s funny because there’s a grain of truth in it. Doctors do think well of themselves, and they want the lower run of human beings who didn’t attend medical school to think well of them and to trust them. It’s an attitude that extends to many healthcare workers, such as nurses, physician assistants, and first responders, and to a certain extent, it may even be justified. The healthcare worker is the one who takes care of you when you are sick.

The American justice system failed former Brooklyn Center police officer Kimberly Potter. From the initial release of body camera footage, it was clear she made a tragic and deadly mistake. End of story. Full stop. Nothing was criminal about what happened, unless you consider the fact that Daunte Wright was a thugging animal who was pulled over for legitimate reasons and later attempted to be detained lawfully because of outstanding warrants for violence against women.
As the trial played out, my own beliefs surrounding the charges were only inured. Officers knew of his violent and extensive criminal background at the time of, and indeed were the reason for, his arrest.

To hear the media tell it, Americans are bitterly and broadly divided over COVID-19 and the policies enacted to mitigate its spread and save lives. But while there remain significant differences among political affiliations, the degree of agreement among Americans on COVID-19 policies is noteworthy, new data from the I&I/TIPP Poll show.
Media coverage of COVID-19 this year has often focused on the degree to which the “right” and “conservatives” have refused to heed government imposed mandates and rules to deal with the fast-spreading virus. Coverage, as numerous studies and reports have shown, has been highly politicized.
To find out if this is true, the December I&I TIPP Poll asked

A CNN panelist claimed that a father of four, who tagged a phone call with President Joe Biden with the phrase “Let’s Go, Brandon,” was not only being impolite but also harboring feelings “about insurrection.”
Ron Brownstein, a senior editor at The Atlantic, joined a CNN panel to discuss a phone call between Biden, First Lady Jill Biden, and an Oregon father Jared Schmeck who ended his live-streamed phone call with a less vulgar substitute for “f*** Joe Biden.”
The CNN host dubbed the interaction between Schmeck and the Bidens “disrespectful,” “juvenile” and “reprehensible.” He also asked Brownstein for his opinion on the matter.

The world seemed to get closer to spinning out of its orbit in 2021. If you’d told me five years ago that men would be treated as women, criminals would not be prosecuted, and censorship would be widespread, I wouldn’t have believed you.
What were once considered the most basic, scientific truths (such as that you’re born with your sex and can’t change it) have broken down. Governments are no longer serving their primary function of providing security and protecting borders.
There are many more. As I reflected on the past year, here are just some of the many things that happened in 2021 that I never would have believed possible.

According to Tejada’s own Instagram page, he was grateful to receive the mRNA/LNP booster while in Seoul, South Korea.

In her wide-ranging interview with CBS' "Face the Nation" host Margaret Brennan on Sunday, Vice President Kamala Harris said America would lose its "role model" status if Congress fails to pass voting rights legislation. With Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., essentially ending President Biden's chances to pass Build Back Better, the administration appears to be pivoting to other policy areas. Harris was tasked with spearheading voting rights over the summer. "In the days and weeks ahead, I will engage the American people, and I will work with voting rights organizations, community organizations, and the private sector

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan have purchased 110 acres of a former sugar plantation reservoir on the Hawaiian island of Kauai.
The agricultural land includes most of the earthen Ka Loko Reservoir, which tragically dumped over 400 million gallons of water when one of its walls failed in 2006, killing seven people, including a pregnant woman.
The new land grab adds to Zuckerberg’s already sizable estate on the island, most of which lies on protected agricultural and conservation land surrounding the couple’s Hawaiian home, Ko‘olau Ranch, according to the Star-Advertiser.

The fact that Nikole Hannah-Jones has been honored with a MacArthur Foundation “genius grant,” a Pulitzer Prize, and has had the New York Times backing her error-riddled and fundamentally mistaken 1619 Project as a curriculum throughout the United States tells us that we live in an intellectually degenerate moment in history. That she has been granted an endowed chair (despite no doctorate) and is heading a new center with $20 million in funding at Howard University bespeaks a collapse of standards. Yesterday, when featured on Meet the Press, she demonstrated genuine intellectual mediocrity. She packs a boatload of BS in this 42 second excerpt:

We know from airport executives’ testimony that the air in airplanes is so gosh darn clean that it’s virtually impossible to catch COVID while flying. But still, when the Democrat backlash began, they agreed that everyone should wear a mask while flying. Now, Anthony Fauci, the man controlling America, has conceded that mandatory vaccines won’t do a thing to make air travel safer—but he still wants a mandate to put even more pressure on people to get those jabs. There’s lots of authority that it’s quite unlikely that you’ll catch COVID in a well-filtered, modern airplane: (snip) Nevertheless, we must still wear masks on those airplanes because...narrative.

Huma Abedin, the former longtime aide to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, said the “final straw” for her came when The Post published a photo on its front page of her husband, disgraced Congressman Anthony Weiner, sexting while lying in bed with their young son. “I did finally reach my breaking point, because that was the point where for so long, Dana, I was saying, I don’t understand. I don’t understand. Why can’t you just knock it off?,” she told host Dana Bash during an interview Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The bodybuilding-crazed son of a family that helped shape New York City's skyline appeared stone-faced in his mugshot after he was arrested for allegedly shooting his parents at their sprawling $3.2million Long Island estate on Christmas morning. Construction magnate Rocco Tomassetti, 65, and wife Vinceta Marsicano-Tomassetti, were shot inside their 8,751-square foot mansion in Hewlett Harbor at around 10am. The COVID-19 digital vax pass is the Panzer tank of the next wave of the global public health Blitzkrieg. If a person complies and gets their COVID-19 shots, they get a personal QR code. They can show this code on their smart phone to participate in society. (snip) everyone in the world with a vaccine passport receives their own ID number. This is called a “globally unique identifier” on page 18 and includes an alphanumeric number and a machine scannable QR code. Kamala Harris gave an interview to Margaret Brennan on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” that finally ran today. We’ve touched on aspects of the interview already, including her saying that the “biggest national security challenge confronting the U.S.” was our democracy because of the fear of autocracies rising around the world. The irony of her saying that, being a part of one of the most autocratic administrations we’ve ever had, pushing all kinds of mandates on Americans. But Harris continued with the cluelessness when Brennan asked her what her “biggest failure has been at this point.”

American politics has not always been like today’s stale, zero-sum game of marathon maneuvers for advantage that leave forgotten voters out in the cold as hapless spectators. A game where photo-ops that seek media attention are considered tactical successes, over ensuring that specific services get delivered to citizens. For all its chronic corruption, patronage, and nepotism, the Chicago Democratic political machine has always interested me as an example of legendary political success. By 2030, its now-frayed and fractious dominance of the country’s second, now third-largest city will be a century-old. Like everywhere Chicago’s politics are changing now, of course, riven by

Most of the time, the panel or roundtable portion of any weekly Sunday political program is a lively exchange among the moderator and the panelists. But that wasn’t the case during one segment of CBS News’ “Face The Nation” this week.
As the show does once a year, it convened a panel made up entirely of the news division’s correspondents, ostensibly to review the big stories of 2021 and make some predictions about where those storylines will go in 2022 and beyond. But at some point in the segment, the panel sat in stunned silence for over a minute-and-a-half, as one of their own spoke the truth about how damaging

News flash: I’m as tired of writing about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant as you are of reading about it. But here’s the thing. Turns out, there’s a legitimate reason to panic over Omicron. On the left, that is. Based on the results of a new study, it’s hard for people with Omicron to distinguish it from a common cold.
Let’s first back up the bus.
As my colleague Scott Hounsell reported on Friday, a recent Danish study suggests Moderna’s mRNA COVID vaccine actually increases the probability of contracting the Omicron variant after 90 days — a devastating body blow to the narrative of fearmongering liberals everywhere. Turns out, it’s even worse.
