A poll released Monday shows powerful Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell hemorrhaging GOP support, less than a year until the 2022 midterm elections. McConnell came in dead last in Gallup's new survey ranking 11 federal officials by their job approval ratings. His 34 percent public approval is lower than that of President Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and even House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. But while the three top Democrats in government found majority support among their own party's voters, the Kentucky Republican is trailing in the GOP sphere. Just 46 percent of McConnell's fellow Republicans approve of his job in the Senate, while a decisive 52-point majority disapprove.

Comments:

I doubt Cocaine Mitch cares one way or another, but this number is still far too high.

Count me in the 52%. He was good on keeping Garland off the SCOTUS, but that’s about it.

With Mitch it’s been good news and bad news. Garland Merrick is not on Supreme Court. Good. I have no idea who participates in these “polls”. I only know that no one in my family has ever been polled.

May 12, 2021.......Mitch "MultiUseless" McConnell "McConnell — asked during a Fox News interview about his February remarks where he called Cheney a "leader of deep conviction" and an "important leader in our party and our nation" — said he hadn't changed his stance on the Wyoming Republican." "Well, there is no change. I stand by what I said about Liz Cheney before. I'm a great admirer of hers. But as to who is supposed to be in the leadership in the House, that's up to House Republicans," McConnell said." More Mitch....... April 09, 2021 "The Senate Leadership Fund Super PAC, Sen. Mitch McConnell’s political action committee, endorsed Sen. Lisa Murkowski for reelection, it announced today. Murkowski has been challenged by Republican Kelly Tshibaka." Look for Mitch to strike another sweetheart deal with Chuck "Slime" Schumer.

I have never been a fan of McConnell. He married into what is effectively ChiCom "royalty" and I think he is more interested in what is good for China than he is what is good for the average American. Giving the Devil his due.....he did get a lot of Trump judges passed through the Senate. Big, indelible "Well done!" for that.....but a whole lot of "You damned fool!" calls for most other things.

For those that don't like the Daily Mail, please remember that the Daily Mail is actually the only fairly honest media out there that talks about what is going on in DC. Our domestic media sure won't do the job. I find the Daily Mail and Canada Free Press are the two go to foreign media outlets that will print anything informative. I think they do it because they are mocking our idiotic domestic media for not doing their job.

Re: #21: That 52% lives and votes in Kentucky...the only place that counts regarding Mitch McConnell's longevity. Mitch's team runs a fabulous "Constituent Response Team" which makes him beloved by Republicans in Kentucky. Plus Mitch brings home the bacon. Louisville, Frankfort and Lexington are Democrat bastions and would toss him in the next primary; however the rest of the state faithfully votes straight ticket Repuplican and that is how Mitch remains in Republican leadership.

Mitch McConnell represents everything that is wrong with the Republican Party. He is just playing his part in the Kabuki Theater that has had too long of a long run in Washington DC. He is corrupt, unprincipled, and totally without regard or loyalty to his constituents or party. He is a old grifter who goes about selling us out under the guise of being one of the senior revered members of the Senate when in actuality he is a barracuda underneath all that soft flesh and mild mannered way of speaking. He is focused on his agenda and I would bet much of that is concentrated on whatever the CCP wants. Have you ever seen the man display a bit of patriotism? Does his leadership in any way assure you that he has the best interests of the country in mind when he makes decisions? Mitch is for Mitch first and foremost. He clings to the old ways, the fake comity and the back room deal making are his forte. He is not to be trusted. For those of you praising him for blocking Merrick Garland, he does what he believes is best for him. He needed that win to gain President Trump’s trust but he was and is prepared to stab him in the back because he can’t con him. Trump has dealt with snakes like McConnell his whole life. He knows how men with no loyalty to anything but themselves operate. Power and wealth are their driving force in the world. Love of country and the desire to serve the interests of the American people hold no appeal to McConnell unless those interests coincide with his own. I don’t like him. I don’t trust him. I certainly would not support him in any way. Just like Nancy Pelosi and many others he has made a mega fortune through his time as a public servant. I believe it’s past time for term limits and believe every single dollar these thieves “earn” during their terms should be accounted for each and every year. All this insider trading, inside information and kickbacks are making these grifters wealthy beyond imagination. It’s about time they were held accountable. We have allowed their blatant corruption to go on for far too long. Audit them as only the IRS can do to conservatives and let’s see how much and where they have stashed millions they have accumulated while doing the work of the people.

So? The first thing a politician must learn is that you never, ever care what your employer (i.e., the taxpayers) have to say about anything ... until your next election is 3 months away. Until then, say whatever you want & do whatever you want because sticks & stones ...etc. PS: He's named "The Turtle" not because he's slow ... but because he never sticks his neck out --- for anyone or anything.

I well understand the complaints about McConnell, but who is going to replace him? It would have to be someone who has sufficient standing among his colleagues (RINOs and conservatives alike) to risk a challenge in a setting in which a secret ballot governs. Verbal promises of support mean nothing in situations like this. Great risk, little chance of reward. Whatever else happens in the next few years, don't expect any serious challenges to McConnell. The nature of the senate as an institution and plain old human nature make such unlikely. ...And don't assume that a conservative would necessarily take his place. Even some in our own camp would be very reluctant to buck the established leader.

I'm happy to take the flak for this comment. Mitch is imperfect. Trump is imperfect. They don't care for each other. Mitch got Trump's agenda implemented in the Senate and got the judges confirmed despite not caring for Trump. Trump demands loyalty but is often disloyal. I'd still vote for him against Hillary or Biden or any other Dem. I'm glad Mitch is where he is because he achieved goals that are more important than Trump or Mitch. I'm grateful to both of them for that no matter what they think of each other.

So, we are all supposed to like Mitch because he got Trump's judges approved? Because he understands the workings of the Senate and actually did his job as majority leader? Guess what? He's getting the demented one's judges approved at an even faster pace than Trump's. The monstrous so-called infrastructure bill got passed because of Mitch's disloyalty to the American people, forget about to just Republicans. Fifty-two percent is way lower than his actual disapproval numbers are. Heck, we haven't like McConnell for years. Remember those Ditch Mitch bumper stickers from years ago? Time to get them out of storage. And then there's Kevin McCarthy. Other than democrats and Liz Cheney Republicans, who the hell would approve of this moron? He can't even keep his Republicans inline. He allowed NINETEEN so-called Republicans to vote for the fake infrastructure bill. That never happens with nancy pelosi. It is rare when even one democrat steps out of line and votes against her edict. I dislike the woman intensely, but she's got brass ones way larger than McCarthy ever dreamed. He is a pathetic loser just like most of the other Republican so-called leaders. Someone asked but who will replace McConnell? Well for starters how about the smartest guy in DC, Ted Cruz. I know, I know, there are a lot of people that don't like him. I'll bet he has a great command of how the Senate and Washington cesspool work and he won't be making deals with biden, schumer and other corrupt politicians, at the expense of the country. If you don't like Cruz, I'm sure there are at least a half dozen other Republican senators that could take McConnell's place. The time is long past to Ditch Mitch.

# 38, we can talk all day about who would make a stronger GOP senate leader. Like you I can think of several men who would. But a successful challenge to McConnell would require winning a majority of votes in the secret ballot GOP senate caucus. I don't think that Cruz (whom I admire greatly) or anyone else could corral a majority against McConnell.

Inflation is surging out of control due to ongoing reckless federal fiscal and monetary policy. This month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced that consumer prices rose by 6.8% over the past year, a near 40-year high. Last week, it reported that producer prices rose by a record 9.6%. This high inflation has resulted in falling real wages for ordinary Americans and declining living standards. A new analysis by the Penn Wharton Budget Model concludes surging inflation will cost ordinary American households $3,500 this year. Call it “the Biden pay cut.”

The House of Representatives has passed a bill that seeks to eradicate blasphemy against Islam. The bill, H.R. 5665, is truly remarkable as it amounts to Congress making a law respecting the establishment of Islam and reducing the United States government into a tool of the world’s ayatollahs. The actual text of the bill not only seeks to eradicate blasphemy against Islam around the world – and solely against Islam at that – but even requires the federal government to reorganize some portions of the State Department along the lines of an Islamic religious institution which will be responsible for interpreting the Quran.

Comrades, many American citizens stood jaw agape as they watched Australian metropolitan police departments begin cracking skulls and making arrests for violating COVID rules and restrictions. Yes, it always seemed like Australia, New Zealand and Europe were the beta testing ground to see if police would comply with jackboot arrests of their own community. Well, now we can see those same tactics being deployed in the U.S. New York City was the first large metropolitan area to require vaccination identification cards to enter restaurants, bars, dining establishments and various public and private venues. Now comes the enforcement part.

Between Joe Biden’s poor poll numbers and his party being increasingly out of touch with the American public, the Democratic Party is widely expected to suffer devastating losses in the 2022 midterms. But prominent Democrat lawyer Marc Elias is predicting that Democrats will try to use litigation to prevent some duly elected Republicans from serving. “My prediction for 2022: Before the midterm election, we will have a serious discussion about whether individual Republican House Members are disqualified by Section 3 of the 14th Amendment from serving in Congress,” Elias tweeted last week. “We may even see litigation.” [Tweet] Dan Gainor of the Media Research Center scoffed at Elias’s absurd idea.

Eric Swalwell sparked immediate criticism after clueless commentary about the “new crew” of Republicans who are “indecent to their core.”The California Democrat was handed a self-check mirror on Twitter after whining about Republican politicians cheering on the ‘Let’s go Brandon’ chants, including the latest one that seemed to set Swalwell off.An Oregon father of four told President Joe Biden ‘Let’s Go Brandon’ on Christmas Eve during a live-streamed call, setting off a meltdown on the left.“I refuse to believe we are this indecent as people. Not on Christmas Eve. And not to a person who lost his wife and daughter at Christmastime. We are better than this.

The U.S. Constitution is the sacred text of American government and civic life. But it’s time to face facts: The document, written in 1787, isn’t working. The signs are all around us. Just 38 percent of Americans in a recent Gallup poll expressed either a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the presidency, down from 48 percent in 2001. Congress, never high in the public’s estimation to begin with, fell from 26 percent to a mere 12 percent. The Supreme Court has also taken a hit, down from 50 percent to 36 percent during the same period.

There's an accident in the Oval Office. Not the kind of accident left on the rug in front of the Resolute Desk on a regular basis by the untrained, rowdy dogs the Biden's sicced on the unwitting White House staff and Secret Service. I'm talking about the man who sits behind the resolute desk for his daily naps. Joe Biden is the accidental president. He is the result of an accident of American politics. His presidency will not be remembered with an asterisk, as my friend and fellow Townhall columnist Kurt Schlichter would say. No, it will be remembered... reviled...
