Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene denounced Kwanzaa as a “fake religion” just as millions of Black people start to celebrate the weeklong holiday. The far-right Georgia lawmaker berated the national College Republicans for “pandering and BS” after the GOP group tweeted a seemingly innocuous happy holiday message. “Stop. It’s a fake religion created by a psychopath,” Greene said. “People are tired of pandering and BS.” She was apparently deriding Kwanzaa founder Prof. Maulana Karenga, who was convicted of felony assault in the 1960s in what he says was a politically motivated prosecution spurred by his involvement in Black nationalist politics. Greene suggested that the College Republicans should avoid political correctness

Felony assault? What he did to those poor women sounds like felony torture. I bet 5hat "millions" of negros do not celebrate this phony holiday. Its like Festivus for the white folk.

Almost as phony as our latest "National Holiday," Juneteenth.

It is fake. The creator of this holiday stole all his symbolic ideas from the Jews and Hanakah. I googled symbols of Kwanzaa and their menorah is pretty much identical, except the candles are colored not white. And they have a special dinner as well at the end of their festivities. It is all fakery stolen from the Jews.

Serious question here…..what’s the upside of her going on about this? Really? You can think what you want about Kwanza and I probably agree with many of the posts here, but just because you can say something doesn’t mean you SHOULD say something. This woman is the Republican version of AOC and the squad. Constantly getting attention and clicks for outrageous rhetoric. She’s getting what she wants out of this but what do we get out of it? Knock it off you fools. Your playing right into their hand when you take cheep unnecessary shots on racial issues. If you just ignore Kwanza and refrain from commenting on it…….it goes away on its own. You pull this 💩 and we all get labeled as racists.

A fake African holiday created by a convict, celebrated only in the US, using east African words and terms by people of west African descent.

I remember listening to a minister. He said there are literally 20000 religions in the world. I believe it. Just food for thought when calling one religion a fake religion. It puts a different perspective on religion. They mostly claim to be divinely inspired, but they are all different. They cannot all be correct. Many of them contradict one another. The other thing is many religions have a cultural component or are an offshoot of another religion that developed because people disagreed. Religion ends up being about people rather than God.

Darn. Is it Kwanzaa again already? I should celebrate. Where can I find someone to mug? Or a young girl to impregnate and abandon?

The writer ridicules MTG for referring to it as a religion, yet he closes his article by including Kwanzaa with the two major religious end-of-the-year holidays. BTW - I'm acquainted with several Blacks and I know not one who celebrates this. Just file it with another Hallmark holiday like Grandparents' Day or Secretaries" (err....um....administrative assistants' day).
Today was National Fruitcake Day --- an appropriate article for the day.

Sometimes a little restraint is needed even if you are right. Speaking to the group involved and educating them about the origin and founder would have been a better course of action. If they knew the history and still sent out a message of support then maybe a public rebuke would have been in order. Now all that was created was a tempest in a teacup with no real upside for Republicans.

It IS a fake religion. The guy ripped off and paraphrased mostly Christian values, that he himself never followed, and called it a fake 'African-sounding' name. There's only the holiday - no religion, even, unless they feverishly written up something over the years.
Another form of 'Festivus'.

I have numerous blacks in my extended family - they are in-laws. I’ve never heard one of them mention Kwanzaa but they go all out celebrating Christmas.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, the only one not afraid to tell it like it is. Nothing more than a diversity holiday with no meaning. It will be celebrated by murders, looting and carjacking.

I remember when this fake holiday was attempted to be established in the middle sixties. I was sure it was some old tradition coming back it turns out a criminal concocted it in prison. It never got off the ground until some 'black elites promoted it along with some white liberals. I don't know anyone who follows this made-up nonsense but I'm sure there are a few obese, tattooed white girls who do to show solidarity to the black cause. MAGA
