The families of the 17 missionaries who were kidnapped in Haiti on Oct. 16 have been safely reunited with their loved ones after the 12 remaining hostages managed to escape and make it to freedom. (snip) But on Dec. 15, after feeling “nudged” to make a break, the remaining 12 missionaries — including children and an infant — solidified a plan.
They walked for miles over the rough terrain, in gang territory, filled with brambles, with nothing to guide them but the light of the moon and their faith. It was enough.

It’s Christmas. If you are living in the United States under a Democratic president, that doesn’t mean wishing the American people ‘Merry Christmas.’ Or messages about the sacred Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus. What it means are hyper-politicized messages that seek to hijack the holiday and put it in the service of the left’s radical agenda. In 2021, that means dragging out the Covid pandemic and bullying Americans into getting a “booster.”A “booster,” in case one hasn’t noticed, is a tacit admission of failure. It is a silent concession that the “vaccines” that were once touted as “100% safe and effective” have failed to stop infections and

The rapid decline of Hollywood’s share of the Chinese film market – the largest in the world as of 2020, when the Chinese coronavirus pandemic shut American cinemas and productions down – has created a small but growing market of Western actors landing big roles as the villains in communist propaganda movies.
Hollywood studios have spent much of the past decade attempting to court Chinese audiences, which necessitates groveling to the Chinese Communist Party lest their productions get censored or simply outlawed in the country. The American entertainment establishment has tried everything – from spending heavily on low-intellect and inoffensive comic book movies to erasing even a suspected mention

As looting continues and lockdowns return, many retail companies have announced recently that they are shuttering some locations that have become simply too expensive to maintain.Major cities have been hit by a wave of “smash-and-grab” robberies, where organized groups of looters attack store employees and escape with thousands of dollars in merchandise. Organized retail theft now costs retailers across the country a grand total of about $65 billion per year.Meanwhile, some areas announced this month that they are again implementing stricter COVID restrictions, including mask and vaccine mandates,

President Joe Biden marked his first Christmas in office by making calls to military service members stationed around the world, offering them holiday wishes and gratitude for their service and sacrifice for the nation. Joined by First Lady Jill Biden, and their new puppy, Commander, the president on Saturday spoke via video to service members representing the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and Coast Guard, stationed at bases in Qatar, Romania, Bahrain. 'As your commander in chief, I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you, thank you, thank you,' he told the service members.

I fooled around and fell in love. No, not that kind of “in love.” Guys like me who marry up don’t make that mistake if they know what’s good for them. No, I fell in love . . . with a puppy. And since I lost him a few days ago, there’s a hole in my heart this Christmas. My friend Jonah Goldberg is about the best writer I know. Late last week the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals removed a stay on the Biden administration’s vaccine mandate via OSHA for companies that employ more than 100 workers.
A three-judge panel in a 2-1 decision dissolved the stay previously granted by the 5th Circuit of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration “Emergency Temporary Standard” which would force employers with 100 or more workers to either require vaccination — or force employees to undergo weekly testing and wear masks at all times.
On Monday, the United States Supreme Court agreed to hear emergency appeals and Justice Brett Kavanaugh — who oversees the 6th Circuit

President Biden won the White House on a pledge to crush the coronavirus through a commitment to science, testing for anyone who wants it, and a major vaccine sprint in his first 100 days in office. Things haven’t quite gone as planned. More than a year into the vaccine drive, and nearly 12 months since Mr. Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris memorialized 400,000 COVID-19 deaths on the eve of the inauguration, the U.S. is mourning another 400,000 lives lost to the disease and now battling another winter surge in the virus. A U.S. Navy warship has paused its deployment to South America due to a COVID-19 outbreak among its “100 percent immunized” crew, the Navy announced on Christmas Eve.
“USS Milwaukee (LCS 5), a Freedom variant littoral combat ship, remains in port as some Sailors test positive for COVID-19,” the U.S. 4th Fleet said in a statement.
“The crew is 100 percent immunized and all COVID-19 positive Sailors are isolated on board and away from other crew members. A portion of those infected have exhibited mild symptoms. The vaccine continues to demonstrate effectiveness against serious illness.”

In holding up President Joe Biden’s “Build Back Better” (BBB) plan, West Virginia Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin has cited inflation as one of his foremost concerns about the bill, while Americans have watched November’s inflation numbers jump to the worst in nearly 40 years. Manchin says he worries BBB’s huge spending provisions could cause America’s already serious inflation problem to worsen substantially.
Manchin’s opposition to the act effectively destroys any hope of the bill passing in the near future in the evenly split U.S. Senate. The act is President Biden’s signature policy proposal, and it could prove to be congressional Democrats’ last chance of making good on their promise to impose

The USS Milwaukee has delayed its deployment to South America after sailors tested positive for COVID-19 on board. The Navy combat ship, which left Mayport, Fla., on Dec. 14, will remain docked at Naval Station Guantanamo Bay, where it stopped for a scheduled port visit.
The Navy did not specify how many sailors have tested positive, but said only some of those are showing mild symptoms. All have been isolated from the healthy crew. The Milwaukee’s crew is “100% immunized,” officials said. “The ship is following an aggressive mitigation strategy in accordance with the Navy and CDC guidelines,” the Navy said in a statement Friday.

COVELO, Calif. — Mexican drug cartels are muscling in on America's burgeoning multi-billion-dollar marijuana industry, illegally growing large crops in the hills and valleys of Northern California.

They're undercutting prices of legalized products offered by permitted farmers who follow the rules and pay taxes.

Perhaps I'm the last person to know about this, but have you ever heard this Christmas carol? [Video]
It's extraordinary. The pitch and harmony are flawless, and according to the twitter commentators below the tweet, the unexpected group that did it, the 1960s pop rock band, The Monkees, did it in one take.
It's a 1556 Spanish Christmas carol called Ríu Ríu Chíu, sung in old Spanish, heavily religious in tone, with apparently some Catalan words in its lyrics. Native Spanish speakers on Twitter say the accent is pitch perfect, and it does sound natural.

Mayor Lightfoot wasn’t satisfied with one instance of ridiculousness this week, oh no, she had to have two. And if we did a little more research, there are probably even more examples we could find.
