The families of the 17 missionaries who were kidnapped in Haiti on Oct. 16 have been safely reunited with their loved ones after the 12 remaining hostages managed to escape and make it to freedom. (snip) But on Dec. 15, after feeling “nudged” to make a break, the remaining 12 missionaries — including children and an infant — solidified a plan. They walked for miles over the rough terrain, in gang territory, filled with brambles, with nothing to guide them but the light of the moon and their faith. It was enough.

Reliance on God for guidance through Scripture and prayer has freed many a captive, from both physical and spiritual captivity. Praise God for safely shepherding His faithful ones. May they heal completely from their ordeal. I'm sure they will. God bless them and their witness.

Sounds like the captors decided to let them go, the door that was usually locked being left open and the guards not stopping them. Maybe they had figured out that no ransom was forthcoming.

It's great that there are people who will go to violent countries to help the citizens. But, those people have no business putting innocent children in danger. As far as I'm concerned those who had children with them when they were kidnapped should be put on trial for endangering the welfare of a child.

I am glad they are all back with their families. It could also be that to save face, the captors relaxed their guard and 'let' them escape as well. I am sure though that God helped them get through the horrible terrain with all the kids they had with them. These terrorists who take captives, hoping for a juicy payout from Uncle Sugar are probably realizing that Comrade Potato Head left Americans in Afghanistan. Having done that, no way would he help any other American citizens.

A New York judge ordered the New York Times to destroy all copies of attorney-client privileged memos from Project Veritas. The order, signed by Judge Charles Wood of the State Supreme Court in Westchester County and dated Thursday, found the newspaper improperly obtained and published materials from the memos written by a lawyer for the conservative group that discussed Project Veritas's methods of reporting. The group sued the New York Times in November 2020 for defamation.

Dominion voting machines in Fulton County, Pennsylvania, will be sent to the state Senate for inspection next month following a ruling by the commonwealth court, according to a press release Thursday by The Amistad Project. “The court recognized that it was improper to demand that the county – which owns the machines, and has the responsibility of running the election along with the legislature – can’t determine whether the machines worked properly,” Amistad Project Director Phill Kline said. “As the judge noted, there’s no justification for preventing the county from looking at their own machines.”

It’s fifty years now since I was at university and a great deal of my time there -- especially the weekends -- is long forgotten. I do remember going with the intention of studying math and economics. At that time, and maybe still, there was a requirement, in the first year, to take other subjects. Whether this was to prevent specializing too soon or to provide a more rounded education or both I don’t know but, when my second year began one of those other subjects became all of my classes, either Modern History or Economic History.

It’s hard to say who is the bigger object lesson of the Trump resistance. Is it former Gov. Andrew Cuomo who briefly became the hero of the pandemic before falling under suspicion for lying about the death toll and for creating a hostile work environment for several of the women who worked for him. He wound up resigning, having lost the support of the people who’d once lionized him. But Michael Avenatti arguably fell even farther. In 2018 he seemed to be on television almost every day. He became such a media rock star that there was briefly talk that he might run for president.

It’s Christmas. If you are living in the United States under a Democratic president, that doesn’t mean wishing the American people ‘Merry Christmas.’ Or messages about the sacred Christian holiday celebrating the birth of Jesus. What it means are hyper-politicized messages that seek to hijack the holiday and put it in the service of the left’s radical agenda. In 2021, that means dragging out the Covid pandemic and bullying Americans into getting a “booster.”A “booster,” in case one hasn’t noticed, is a tacit admission of failure. It is a silent concession that the “vaccines” that were once touted as “100% safe and effective” have failed to stop infections and
