Knucklehead of the week? On Christmas morning? Yes, and yes. When knuckleheadedness takes a holiday in this country, so will we. But until then, we will persist regardless of the calendar. This week’s winner seems to have been begging for this award since she came into office, yet Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot was always outdone by another knucklehead: but not this week. Mayor Lightfoot wasn’t satisfied with one instance of ridiculousness this week, oh no, she had to have two. And if we did a little more research, there are probably even more examples we could find.

Joe Biden has promised to deliver 500 million Covid tests but hasn't even signed a contract to buy them or set up a website so that people can place orders.
'That's not a plan - it's a hope,' Jennifer Nuzzo, an epidemiologist at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, told The New York Time.
'If those tests came in January and February, that could have an impact, but if they are spread out over 10 to 12 months, I'm not sure what kind of impact it is going to have.'
It is not even known how many tests will be immediately available

Russian President Vladimir Putin has blamed the West for increasing tensions in Eastern Europe and suggested a “military-technical” response if his request for security guarantees is not met — while a media mouthpiece for the Kremlin warned that Russia will hold a gun to “America’s head” if Ukraine is allowed to join NATO.
In a speech Tuesday to Russian defense ministry officials, Putin said Moscow needs “long-term, legally binding guarantees” from the West that the US and NATO will not deploy missile systems in Ukraine, rather than “verbal assurances.”
Russia has massed as many as 175,000 troops as well as heavy military equipment

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced Monday that he was opening an investigation into two pharmaceutical companies for promoting puberty-blocking drugs to minors for gender transitions.
The investigation will look at whether or not Endo Pharmaceuticals and AbbVie Inc. have violated the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act by advertising and providing puberty-blocking drugs to underage children for the purposes of gender transitions, a use that does not have FDA approval.

With thousands of U.S. troops refusing orders to get mandatory COVID vaccinations and with deadlines already passed or fast approaching, the military services have begun culling the ranks of resistors.
The Air Force’s Nov. 2 deadline was the earliest, and it’s the first service to announce that 27 service members have been administratively discharged for failure to follow a lawful order. An Air Force spokesperson said all are active-duty troops in their first term of enlistment. More than 1,000 Air Force active-duty personnel have yet to be vaccinated, with more than 3,200 in the total Air and Space forces, according to Air Force Magazine.

USA Gymnastics and the US Olympics committee agreed Monday to give $380 million to victims of Larry Nassar’s sex abuse, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Gold medalists like Simone Biles, Aly Raisman and McKayla Maroney will receive money in the settlement after it was revealed that team doctor Nassar had been repeatedly abusing gymnasts like the three for decades.
Nassar, 58, a former Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics doctor, has been accused of sexual abuse under the guise of medical treatment by more than 260 women.

There are some weeks for which it is painful to be a conservative. The week of Election Day 2020 was one such week, and so was the week of January 6th, earlier this year. And then… then there are weeks for which it is absolutely glorious to be a conservative. Such weeks include instances when our allies are vindicated, or perhaps our conservative ideals are validated. Or better still, every once in a while, we are treated to a week in which we see an individual who is wholly representative of everything wrong with our ideological opponents being given his/her just desserts.

At least 12 major US cities have already set historical murder records in 2021, even as three weeks remain in the year.
Philadelphia, the nation’s sixth largest city, recorded 523 murders as of Dec. 7, surpassing its formal grim milestone of 500 murders, which was set in 1990, police data showed.
The City of Brotherly Love had recorded significantly more murders in 2021 than New York City’s 443, despite having approximately six times fewer residents.
“It’s terrible to every morning get up and have to go look at the numbers and then look at the news and see the stories.

Former “Empire” star Jussie Smollett got combative as he finished testifying Tuesday in his alleged bogus-race-hate case, which was headed for closing arguments and potential jury deliberations Wednesday.
The prosecution finished its cross-examination after grilling the embattled snippy actor on the stand for another two and half hours, following his previous five hours of testimony the day before.
Before the judge called it a day in anticipation of closing arguments, jurors also heard from the Lyft driver who ferried around the brothers Smollett allegedly hired to help him pull off the ruse.

Fired CNN host Chris Cuomo is set to sue the network if it balks at paying him at least $18 million to cover what’s left on his contract, sources told The Post on Monday.
Cuomo, 51, has hired lawyers and is preparing to file the lawsuit over the remainder of the four-year contract he signed last year — after a bitter back-and-forth about what the network knew of his secret efforts to aid his embattled brother, then-Gov. Andrew Cuomo, said sources familiar with the matter.
His contract was reportedly worth $6 million annually, leaving between $18 million and $20 million that he would be owed

The decision on who to honor as this week’s top knucklehead was a relatively easy one, for a change, with the only real competition being provided by our two honorable mentions. Fredo Cuomo’s suspension from CNN is so improbable, the choice was an easy one. But before we examine the justification for Fredo’s selection, let’s pause for a moment to consider how far the House of Cuomo has fallen in such a short period of time. A year ago today, now-disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, Fredo’s brother, was still trying to figure out where to display the Emmy Award he’d been given
