Leaving California for Texas is such a conformist thing to do these days, but I did for a short vacation to America. In Houston, I went into an H.E.B. and was talking about California to someone who was giving away free samples of beef – having conversations with random people is a huge difference from LA – and I had to reassure the guy I was going home. He seemed relieved. I’ve been coming to Texas intermittently for about 30 years, and it’s never seemed more crowded. The place is packed – the roads, the stores, the airport. Back home in LA, it’s empty and depressing

Through December 21, 2021, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) reported a total of 5,779 unruly passenger incidents this year. Of these incidents, the FAA has launched 1,054 investigations, which is approximately a 600% increase from the annual average of the previous twenty-five years.
Historically, factors such as overcrowding, cancellations, and narrow seats cause in-flight incidents. However, this year, the mask mandate, which the FAA instituted on February 1, has been the major factor causing the massive increase in incidents.
Despite a multitude of studies showing the ineffectiveness of masks and the potential negative health effects, some airlines are now increasing their restrictions and forcing passengers to wear masks while eating and drinking.

The criminal insanity in LA continues, this time at a Rite-Aid. There, a woman wielding a pickaxe yelled at customers and robbed the store, using the mining tool as a weapon. Watch her here: [video]
As you can watch in the video, the deranged woman drags the basket full of goods she presumably intends to steal across the floor of the establishment, wielding the pickaxe as she does so.
Also, some of her comments are audible. For example, at one point she says “I’m not f*****g around,” to an employee who attempts to get her to stop as she grabs at the beauty projects she’s stealing,

On December 24, Biden gave America the gift of self-denunciation. When Jared Schmeck, along with his son, called the NORAD number that Joe and Mrs. Jill Biden were manning, Schmeck puckishly ended the call by saying “Let’s go, Brandon.” The feckless Biden echoed this sentiment, adding delightfully, “I agree.” It was a prank but it was enough to enrage the Democrat party praetorian guard (i.e., the media). They identified Schmeck as if he’d aimed a gun at Biden’s head, and then proceeded to attack him viciously, including doxing him. The peak media madness, though, came when a CNN talking head said Schmeck’s prank constituted an “insurrection.”

Senator Rand Paul (R- KY) recently released his annual “Festivus Report” detailing rampant waste in spending by the federal government.
For instance, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) spent $11.3 million, in part, in an effort aimed at getting Vietnamese citizens to stop burning their trash. (It might just as well have burned the $11.3 million.) The federal government spent $25 million to help New York City display art projects around its boroughs. (Yes, defund the police, but make sure criminals are inspired by art.)
The federal government also reportedly donated $14 million to the Wilson Center, a Washington think tank known for putting on parties for members of Congress.

There’s an old joke that asks what the difference is between God and a doctor, the answer being that God doesn’t think He’s a doctor. It’s funny because there’s a grain of truth in it. Doctors do think well of themselves, and they want the lower run of human beings who didn’t attend medical school to think well of them and to trust them. It’s an attitude that extends to many healthcare workers, such as nurses, physician assistants, and first responders, and to a certain extent, it may even be justified. The healthcare worker is the one who takes care of you when you are sick.

A Marine Veteran from Mayfield, Kentucky, raised tens of thousands of dollars and bought Christmas presents for children impacted by the catastrophic storms and tornadoes that ripped through America’s heartland just over two weeks ago.
Immediately after the devastation in Mayfield, veteran Shawn Triplett, 38, rushed to town to see how he could be of service to others, according to ABC News.
“I’ve been deployed three times, and I’ve seen the worst,” Triplett said. “It was just absolute war zone destruction everywhere.”
Triplett captured the destruction in an eerie photograph of a destroyed Mayfield movie theater. The photograph gained national attention. [Tweet]

With the spread of Omicron for the last couple of months, members of the Branch Covidian Cult have been freebasing their latest fix for panic, fed to them by their dealers and the other members of the fear cartel. As they froth at the mouth, demanding that we partake of their mind-altering drug-of-choice, their monotonal chant drones on, demanding we “follow the science” and “trust the scientists” absent a single study supporting their fear, without identifying a single scientist whom we should trust, and, more importantly, why we should trust them. Fauci has become a meme of himself in recent months (and especially over the last seven days),

In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that the whole world should be enrolled. This was the first enrollment, when Quirinius was governor of Syria. So all went to be enrolled, each to his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. While they were there, the time came for her to have her child, and she gave birth to her firstborn son. She wrapped him in swaddling clothes

Perhaps I'm the last person to know about this, but have you ever heard this Christmas carol? [Video]
It's extraordinary. The pitch and harmony are flawless, and according to the twitter commentators below the tweet, the unexpected group that did it, the 1960s pop rock band, The Monkees, did it in one take.
It's a 1556 Spanish Christmas carol called Ríu Ríu Chíu, sung in old Spanish, heavily religious in tone, with apparently some Catalan words in its lyrics. Native Spanish speakers on Twitter say the accent is pitch perfect, and it does sound natural.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) released a Christmas message ahead of the holiday, reminding Americans how blessed they are to live in a country that “protects our right to celebrate the birth of Christ freely.”
“For unto us a child is born. For unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder. His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace,” the governor began.
“The first Christmas in America was celebrated just down the street from the Florida Capitol in what was then Spanish Florida,” he continued.
“Much has changed over the ensuing centuries,

The FBI and police mounted a search for two men suspected of robbing U.S. Representative Mary Gay Scanlon of her automobile at gunpoint on Wednesday in a Philadelphia park following a meeting there with other elected officials, according to her spokeswoman and police.
Scanlon, a Democrat who represents Pennsylvania's 5th Congressional District, was unharmed in the mid-afternoon carjacking, which occurred as she walked to her sport utility vehicle and was approached by two armed men believed to be 20 to 30 years of age, city police said.
The suspects demanded the keys to her vehicle and she handed them over, at which point one man drove off in her car
