Charlottesville, Va.—Police have removed an unauthorized camera and apparent tripwire device from the vicinity of a Confederate monument in Charlottesville, Virginia. Charlottesville police spokesman Tyler Hawn said Monday that neither the camera nor the “self-made” device belonged to police. He says officers removed them soon after citizens reported their presence. Hawn declined to describe the device beyond saying it didn’t appear to present any threat. Social media posts showed what looked like a tripwire attached to a bell by the base of the statue of Confederate Gen. Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson. The New Hampshire Firearms Coalition blasted the Democratic Party for filing an election law complaint against the banner with Nazi swastikas they brought to a legislative committee meeting on the Red Flag bill.
Former state Rep. JR Hoell, who is the Coalition’s secretary, said the complaint was a publicity stunt on the part of Democrats.
“This is a frivolous complaint designed to catch attention on the day Vice President Pence was visiting the State House,” Hoell said. “There is no merit to the complaint and the Constitution is extremely clear in Part 1, Article 30 about freedom of speech.”

Former President Jimmy Carter was admitted into Emory University Hospital on Monday for a procedure to relieve pressure on his brain, stemming from his recent falls, the Carter Center said. The United Nations' nuclear watchdog reported Monday that its inspectors have discovered uranium particles of a man-made origin "at a location in Iran not declared to the agency," confirming allegations made earlier by Israel and the United States. The NYPD is investigating three egg attacks in Brooklyn over the weekend, authorities said Monday. Two of the incidents occurred Saturday, the first around 6 p.m., when a 38-year-old woman had eggs thrown at her on 38th Street near 14th Avenue in Borough Park, police said. About 15 minutes later, an egg was thrown at a wall of Congregation Bnez Torah Sanz, which police are now investigating as a possible hate crime. In a third incident Sunday, three unidentified people crept up behind a 50-year-old woman and threw an egg at her back around 4:15 p.m., cops said.

If you want to run for president, it is a 50 state process that requires filing papers and whatever else is required to get on the ballot. Alabama’s filing deadline passed last week. New Hampshire and Arkansas expire this week. The heavy hitters of Illinois, California, and Texas are just weeks away. Ohio and North Carolina arrive before Christmas.

House Intelligence Committee chair Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has yet to release the transcript of the closed-door testimony of former National Security Council senior director for European and Russian affairs Tim Morrison — just two days before public hearings begin.
Morrison’s testimony is considered the most favorable to President Donald Trump, after he reportedly told the committee in late October: “I was not concerned that anything illegal was discussed.” Morrison also reportedly said that Ukraine was not aware of any hold on U.S. aid until Politico reported it on August 28, 2019.

Federal prosecutors have accused a Virginia doctor of performing surgeries on women -- such as hysterectomies and removing their fallopian tubes without their consent according to court documents.
Javaid Perwaiz, 69, faces several charges related to insurance fraud as a result of an investigation that began in September 2018 after the FBI received a tip from a hospital employee who suspected he was "performing unnecessary surgeries on unsuspecting patients," according to the criminal complaint, filed Friday in the Eastern District of Virginia.
The unidentified patients would advise hospital staff that they were there for their "annual clean outs" and were not aware of the procedures they were undergoing, the affidavit states.
“It’s not an impeachment resolution,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.
Pelosi had just announced the House would, in fact, hold a vote to formalize the impeachment probe and establish parameters for the investigation late last month.
The House speaker had argued for weeks such a step wasn’t necessary. Congressional Republicans and members of the administration countered that the White House shouldn’t cooperate because the House never codified the inquiry.
“They would much rather discuss process,” House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff, D-Calif., when asked about the GOP demand for a vote. “They can’t defend the president’s conduct.”
