Let's hear from the whistle blower

It seems ludicrous that in an open society, a president could be impeached and possibly removed through a process that begins with a report by a bureaucrat whose identity is never formally revealed and who is immune from examination. After all, the impeachment process is an attempt to override the decision of the electorate as to who shall be president. It should not be undertaken, and certainly not consummated, without the fullest, most open process, including the possibility of investigating the origins of the process.

Comments:

This never-trumper masquerades as a "conservative" on one of the better known conservative blogs in the country. He has been in DC way too long.....just like lots of other folks.

OP is spot on. The Powerline boys are hard core never Trumpers. "Democrats say they can prove their case against Trump without the whistleblower’s testimony. That’s probably true." Really Paul, what case do the Democrats have exactly? "With many of Trump’s defenses crumbling as the facts roll in..." Again Paul, let's see some specific facts that might qualify as impeachable offenses.

Paul M definitely a NeverTrumper. The Left has definitely tried to change things for their enemies though. Kavanaugh was originally accused by someone of doing something sometime somewhere (none of these specified) and the Left tried to change the rules so that he had to prove that he was innocent of doing something to someone somewhere sometime. The same Left will do their best to publicly display and humiliate anyone with whom they simply disagree. This is one of the Left's standard double standards. Trump, his supporters, and pretty much anyone not on the Left should probably expect this type of treatment.

There has been zero evidence presented that points to an impeachable offense. Leaked cherry picked quotes from unknown bureaucrats who have been asked to share their opinions do not qualify as evidence. I am continuously astounded by how stupid they think we are.

Once upon a time, I had a friend whose child was attending some very progressive nursery school and she told me, with some pride, that her daughter was being taught how to march. I got the impression that it was very much the school of "You vill march this way or else." Anyway, you sometimes get the impression that our non- deplorables are very much wanting us deplorables to march to their tune when it comes to this impeachment fiasco, OR ELSE. Just perusing Mr. Mirengoff's essay, I came up with more than a few questions: "...a president (his lower case, not mine) could be impeached and possibly removed through a process that begins with a report by a bureaucrat whose identity is never formally revealed and who is immune from examination." Really? "...the impeachment process is an attempt to override the decision of the electorate as to who shall be president." Really? "Democrats say they can prove their case against Trump without the whistleblower's testimony. That's probably true." Really? "However, the president has the right to make his case." Really? How very generous of the author to allow President Trump to speak. I often think that way too many of Trump's detractors do not like the fact that the President marches to a different drummer.

It would be political suicide for the wimpy Republican Senators to vote to remove President Trump because of what occurred on that telephone conversation between Trump and the Ukrainian President after a trial in the Senate. If such a trial ever happens the Republican Senators must demand that the obviously bogus whistleblower testify in public about his or her totally hearsay compliant against the President, and identify the individuals assigned to the National Security Council in the White House who passed restricted and possibly classified Presidential and White House information to him without him having an official need to know.

Eric Ciaramella is NO whistleblower. He heard nothing whatsoever about the phone call first hand. Eric is a gossip, telling stories he heard from some other guy. Eric is a traitor, a coward and a pajama boy, literally hiding out at his parent's home now. Coward.

Name the Democrat who is super-excited to have Michael Bloomberg barge into the Dem primaries like some nutty ex-girlfriend who gave you crabs popping in at your wedding. Where is the groundswell of support behind this pint-sized presidential aspirant? Perhaps the Democratic consultants who didn’t sign up with one of the other goofy candidates are happy. The micro-zillionaire may not have charisma or a vision or actual human support, but he’s got endless bucks to squander on electoral parasites.

On Saturday, San Francisco voters elected the son of two former Weather Underground murderers to serve as their District Attorney. The voters deserve all the hell that is about to break loose. Progressive candidate Chesa Boudin wants to free criminals but prosecute police and ICE agents for doing their jobs. It's no surprise Boudin hates cops so much. His parents did, too. Kathy Boudin and David Gilbert were terrorists in the Weather Underground who murdered two police officers and a security guard during a 1981 robbery of a Brinks armored security car outside New York City.

When the presidential campaign season began, Bernie Sanders may have figured, as many of us did, that Elizabeth Warren would not make a strong run for the nomination. Polls did not place her at or near the top of the pack. Warren may have figured that Sanders, though polling well, would fade. To many, he seemed like yesterday’s man. Whether for these reasons or some other, neither Sanders nor Warren has seen fit to attack the other. This, despite the fact that both are thought to be competing for the left-most Democratic primary voters and caucus goers.
The ‘It Takes A Trump To Change Washington’
Defense Of The President

Some supporters of President Trump have adopted the following defense of the (at times) nasty, over-the-top rhetoric Trump uses against his adversaries: Trump is “no Mr. Nice Guy,” but “sometimes it takes a Donald Trump to change Washington.” In fact, Trump’s recently released campaign ad makes this pitch in just that language. As a means of making ethical Trump supporters feel better about backing the president, this defense has appeal. But is there anything to it? Not much. Ronald Reagan changed Washington without being Trump-like. Headline corrected*

For example, we’ve got the new book by Lee Smith that’s out this week which exposes everything Devin Nunes found about this corrupt so-called investigation into Trump. The American people en masse get a load of this, and it’s entirely possible it’s gonna change things dramatically.

The Washington Post says al-Baghdadi was just an “austere religious scholar,” but if you don’t buy that line the New York Times has another hot take: the successful raid on Baghdadi’s hideout occurred despite, not because of, President Trump: (tweet) These are no doubt the same “military, intelligence and counterterrorism officials” who have been behind 5,000 or so previous anti-Trump stories in the Times. As William Jacobson points out, there is nothing to the Times story. Intelligence sources located Baghdadi, the military asked for permission to go after him, Trump granted permission, and the raid was carried out successfully. The Times has nothing.

On Tuesday, the White House announced that it is terminating its subscriptions to the New York Times and the Washington Post. Why not? The Times and the Post are disreputable partisan rags. They have no stature, no standing, and there is no reason why taxpayers should have to support their partisan journalism. Trump’s action provoked the usual hyperventilation from his critics. This tweet by retired liberal General Barry McCaffrey, via The Hill, is a classic:

SAN FRANCISCO – Fix global warming or cook dinner on a gas stove? That’s the choice for people in 13 cities and one county in California that have enacted new zoning codes encouraging or requiring all-electric new construction. The codes, most of them passed since June, are meant to keep builders from running natural gas lines to new homes and apartments, with an eye toward creating fewer legacy gas hookups as the nation shifts to carbon-neutral energy sources. For proponents, it's a change that must be made to fight climate change. For natural gas companies, it's a threat to their

When asked about her future in politics, Clinton said, “I feel a sense of responsibility partly because you know my name was on the ballot, I got more votes, but ended up losing to the current incumbent in the White House who I think is really undermining our democracy in very fundamental ways. And I want to retire him.” When asked if she is absolutely ruling out a 2020 run, Clinton said, “I, as I say never, never, never say never.

Department of Justice Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s much anticipated report on his investigation into the FBI’s probe into President Trump’s campaign is expected to be made public before Thanksgiving and the outcome is alleged to contain several criminal referrals, according to sources who spoke with SaraACarter.com. Horowitz’s investigation on the bureau’s probe into the now debunked theory that Trump colluded with Russia in the 2016 presidential election will more than likely result in the declassification of documents — requested by senior Republican lawmakers for more than several years. These are the same documents President Trump turned over to Attorney General William Barr in May,
