New York City elected a communist to be its next mayor on Tuesday. Uganda-born Zohran Mamdani is projected to win more than 50 percent of the Big Apple. Over the next few days, professional Republicans will shake their heads and lament the outcome of the race. But few, if any, will acknowledge the truth: Mamdani’s victory is the direct result of mass immigration.
New York City wasn’t lost to a communist because the radical left out-organized the Democrat establishment. New York City was lost to a communist because we lost control of our borders — not just our southern border, but every single border separating the United States from the rest

New York City’s Jewish fire commissioner Robert Tucker handed in his resignation first thing Wednesday — just one day after anti-Israel Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani was elected, The Post has learned. Tucker, a Jewish philanthropist and businessman, will step down from the role he has held for just over 12 months on Dec. 19, sources said. He will go back to running the private security firm, T&M, which he headed before joining Mayor Eric Adams’ administration, the sources added.

The German Interior Ministry on Wednesday banned the group "Muslim Interaktiv," which calls for a worldwide caliphate and rejects the democratic order enshrined in Germany's constitution, the Basic Law.
A ministry press release described the association "Muslim Interaktiv" as "opposed to the constitutional order and the idea of international understanding," adding: "The association will be dissolved. The assets of Muslim Interaktiv will be confiscated."
The association views the Muslim community in Germany as a minority that is discriminated against and ostracized from society.

Supreme Court justices on Wednesday morning expressed skepticism about the legality of aggressive tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump against most of the world's nations.
Conservative and liberal justices sharply questioned Solicitor General D. John Sauer on the Trump administration's method for enacting the tariffs, which critics say infringes on the power of Congress to tax. Lower federal courts have ruled that Trump lacked the legal authority he cited under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose the so-called reciprocal tariffs on imports from many U.S. trading partners, and fentanyl tariffs on products from Canada, China and Mexico.

The race for Minneapolis mayor did not conclude Tuesday night. With nearly 100 percent of precincts reporting, no candidate reached the threshold needed to be declared the winner after first choice ballots were tallied. Mayor Jacob Frey received nearly 42 percent of first choice votes. His closest challenger, state Sen. Omar Fateh, received nearly 32 percent. Minister DeWayne Davis and business owner Jazz Hampton are farther behind with 14 percent and 10 percent respectively. City officials say tabulation will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday and into Thursday if necessary. Frey told supporters last night that he’s optimistic about his numbers.

Former first lady Michelle Obama joined Stephen Colbert Tuesday night and delivered a depressing diatribe about the President Donald Trump-led White House ballroom construction, calling herself “confused” and “lost” as “standards and norms” are being broken.
“The West Wing was work. It was sometimes sadness, problems, it was the guts of the White House and the East Wing was where you felt light. That’s where children came. We had puppies,” Obama began. “It makes me confused. I am confused by what are our norms, what are our standards, what are our traditions. I just feel like, what is important to us as a nation anymore? Because I’m lost.”

Karine Jean-Pierre can't stop making history. Earlier this year, the former White House press secretary became the highest-ranking openly queer, French-born black woman with a hyphenated surname to publicly renounce the Democratic Party for being mean to Joe Biden. She is the only black female lesbian immigrant to publish a book about her time in the Biden administration. It is the worst political memoir ever written in the history of the English language.
This is not hyperbole. It's an especially vacuous genre and highly competitive, to be sure. But imagine writing a book so bad it could shame Democrats and liberals into second-guessing their cult-like devotion to DEI. That's what Jean-Pierre

The Wall Street Journal reports this morning on the aftermath of the Big Apple fight over socialism, where capital lost. Zohran Mamdani won easily last night, winning an outright majority of ballots cast by New York City voters, 50.6% as of this morning with 87% of precincts reporting. Andrew Cuomo got 41.7%, while Curtis Sliwa -- the only rational candidate still left on the ballot -- received 7.1% of the vote.
New York City has chosen socialism, and the WSJ suggests that capitalists will just have to suck it up. But is that their only option?

A roaring Mamdani wasted no time in claiming a mandate for his potentially budget-busting progressive agenda and taunting President Trump as he rallied his fired-up supporters soon after winning Tuesday night.
Jones was quick to note live on CNN that the 34-year-old’s triumphant demeanor was a far cry from the cool, calm and collected candidate seen on the campaign trail.

Yep. We hear all the time about decency being on the ballot and how "grab 'em by the pussy" was totally disqualifying. Trump is mean. He doesn't conform to the country's norms.
Women, in particular, are all about decency, norms, and kindness I am told, and the vote totals clearly show that. (X) Well, what can I say? I'm totally convinced by your moralistic posturing! Now that I know that wishing a man and his children die in front of their mother is not disqualifying in your eyes, I am totally convinced.

With the never-ending swirl of action around President Donald Trump, it’s often hard to tell how voters perceive his actions. In this month’s I&I/TIPP Poll, there’s been some erosion in Trump’s scores from voters as they pause to ponder the dizzying array of issues he is tackling.
With everything from military attacks on drug cartels to trying to keep the Israeli-Hamas Oct. 10 ceasefire from unraveling to going on a wide trade swing through Asia (including finalizing a trade deal with China), Trump’s October was filled with action on several prominent issues.

Democrats dominated the first major Election Day since President Donald Trump returned to the White House.
And while a debate about the future of the Democratic Party may have only just begun, there are signs that the economy — specifically, Trump’s inability to deliver the economic turnaround he promised last fall — may be a real problem for Trump’s GOP heading into next year’s higher-stakes midterm elections.
Democrats on Tuesday won governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey, the only states electing new chief executives this year. They also swept a trio of state Supreme Court contests in swing-state Pennsylvania and ballots measures from Colorado to Maine.

The New York City mayoral race and the New Jersey’s governor’s race is one of those times when the Jewish vote actually matters and the skew of the Jewish vote looks nothing like the stereotypes.

Jack needs every single Vote in the community, including all the Yeshiva students who turned out to vote for me last year.”

While diplomats speak of ceasefires and "inclusive transitions," Tehran is laying the groundwork for something far more dangerous: a military beachhead on the Red Sea, operated through its newest ally in Khartoum, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.
Al-Burhan is a military officer from the old Islamist regime of Omar al-Bashir, a longtime partner of the Muslim Brotherhood and a beneficiary of Iran's renewed military outreach. He is not a bulwark against extremism; he is its new façade.
On September 12, the "Quad" — the United States, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and Egypt — issued a clear warning: the Muslim Brotherhood must have no role in Sudan's future.... Al-Burhan's answer was unmistakable: escalation.

To paraphrase and utterly subvert one of Karl Marx’s best-known quotes, a “spectre” is haunting Silicon Valley—the spectre of authentic abundance. All the powers of woke California have entered into an unholy alliance to exorcise this spectre: public sector unions, the environmentalist lobby, the crony capitalists, Antifa radicals, and Reddit trolls.
They’re going to lose. For all the power the state’s ruling unholy alliance still wields with its “No Kings” populism, its partisan Prop. 50 redistricting, and its absolute grip on state and local governance, it is now in conflict with a far greater historical and cultural momentum. One of New York’s most famous political dynasties bit the dust Tuesday as Andrew Cuomo’s power grab came to a humiliating end in a gilded Midtown ballroom.
New York City voters firmly rejected Cuomo’s unwanted electoral advance — just like they rebuffed his dad, Mario Cuomo, 48 years ago as the patriarch suffered a stinging defeat to Ed Koch. The never-take-no-for-an-answer Cuomo, 67, has said he wouldn’t rule out another political run if his mayoral bid faltered, but his second defeat against socialist Zohran Mamdani left the once-formidable former governor weakened to the point of irrelevance.

We're now 34 days and change into the government shutdown brought on by Democrat intransigence. Rather than accept a clean continuing resolution that would fund the government until a new spending bill was passed, the Democrats have elected to use government employee salaries, SNAP beneficiaries, and victims of Obamacare as pawns to wring concessions for higher spending from the Republican majority. In fact, on Tuesday afternoon, the Democrats voted for the 14th time to keep the government closed. The nexus of this shutdown is the Senate's filibuster rule. This requires a bill to have 60 votes in favor of bringing it to the floor for a final up-or-down vote.

Dem Rep. Mikie Sherrill walloped Republican Jack Ciattarelli in a stunning victory Tuesday after making her New Jersey gubernatorial campaign all about President Trump.
Despite Ciattarelli mounting an aggressive, well-funded campaign and polls showing the race neck-and-neck, he fell dramatically short on Election Day — marking a reversal from four years ago when most polling significantly underestimated him.
Sherrill led by 12 points with 90% of ballots counted on Tuesday night after the highest turnout in a Garden State gubernatorial election in over a decade.
Her electoral triumph marks the first time in the modern era that her party will control Drumthwacket for more than two consecutive terms.

For a number of years, the BBC’s coverage of climate change and related policy issues has been misinforming the public. It is often one-sided, misleading and sometimes even factually incorrect, with an absence of alternative views and inconvenient facts that might run counter to the BBC agenda.
The Beeb – funded by licence-fee payers – blames climate change for nearly every bit of bad weather that comes along. It has long been a fervent backer of Net Zero and other climate policies but rarely tells the public how much it is costing them and how little effect such policies will in fact have.

Democrat California Governor Gavin Newsom attempted to come for the White House and President Donald Trump, trumpeting the integrity of his state's elections, and got hit with some embarrassing truths.
It started on Tuesday with a Truth Social post from President Trump about the initiative on the ballot in CA, Proposition 50, which Newsom has made his pet project, pushing for its passage that would terminate the state's independent redistricting commission, allegedly, temporarily.
If it passes, the Democrat-run state would be able to break apart predominantly Republican Congressional districts to get five more seats in Congress, further gerrymandering a state that has already been altered to benefit Democrats.

All 17 constitutional amendments on the ballot held majority support Tuesday night, most of which restrict the creation of certain taxes or allow for new tax exemptions. Other amendments would create state investments in water infrastructure, dementia research and technical college funds.
Proposition 10 received the largest share of voter support Tuesday night. The amendment would temporarily lower homeowners’ property taxes if their homes are destroyed by fires.

Will Democrats choose tonight to cave on the Schumer Shutdown? Have they already chosen to cave? Earlier today, Senate Democrats again blocked the clean continuing resolution from coming to the floor for the 14th time in the last five weeks, with no movement toward ending the filibuster that has kept the government mainly shuttered since funding ran out on October 1st.
However, something is afoot this afternoon among Chuck Schumer's caucus, even after Trump's refusal to budge on SNAP: Whatever could that mean? Schumer has spent the last five weeks insisting that there were no other options. So, for that matter, have John Thune and Donald Trump.

Californians have voted to approve Proposition 50, a redistricting proposal that would add as many as five Democrat-held seats in Congress.
Governor Gavin Newsom said the measure would allow the blue state to fight back against President Trump’s agenda and “efforts to undermine the democratic process.”
Newsom proposed the redistricting plan in response to redistricting efforts in Texas that favor Republicans. Lone Star State Republicans revised their maps mid-decade, redrawing lines in such a way that Republicans could gain five seats during next year’s midterms.
