While Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani has gotten the lion’s share of the media attention these last several weeks, Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg quietly sailed through his reelection bid, securing more than 70% of the vote.
Bragg’s win reflects a bucking of what some might have been tempted to call a national trend of so-called “progressive” prosecutors around the country being made to suffer the electoral consequences of going soft on crime.
Recent examples include LA’s George Gascón, Oakland’s Pamela Price, San Francisco’s Chesa Boudin, and Athens, Ga.’s Deborah Gonzalez, defeated in the wake of Laken Riley’s murder.

Lefty luminary Van Jones was among those raising alarm at Democratic socialist mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani’s rage-filled victory speech, noting his instant “character switch” at winning power.
A roaring Mamdani wasted no time in claiming a mandate for his potentially budget-busting progressive agenda and taunting President Trump as he rallied his fired-up supporters soon after winning Tuesday night.
Jones was quick to note live on CNN that the 34-year-old’s triumphant demeanor was a far cry from the cool, calm and collected candidate seen on the campaign trail.
“I think he missed an opportunity.

This summer the Pacific Legal Foundation filed a lawsuit to end a scholarship available to University of California Sand Diego (UCSD) students. The group sued on behalf of a student named Kai Peters who was a UCSD student but who was not eligible to apply for the scholarship because he is white.
The Black Alumni Scholarship Fund (BASF) awards up to $10,000 to students who maintain a 2.7 GPA and participate in various programs like student mentoring. Kai would gladly participate, but the program is exclusive to black students. He is white, and therefore ineligible.

Voting machines went down in three districts of New Jersey early Tuesday, which is Election Day, according to Early Vote Action’s Scott Presler.
Just before 8:00 a.m., Presler reported via X that three red districts in Cumberland County saw their machines go down.
“In 3 RED districts in Cumberland County, NJ, the machines are down. On the phone w/ legal right now,” he wrote: Other conservatives on the social media platform highlighted the news and urged people not to skip out on voting.
“Election machines have gone down in multiple locations across CUMBERLAND COUNTY, NJ – where Republicans are outperforming their 2024 turnout by double digits, Scott Presler says. Isn’t that suspicious.

Across New Jersey, bomb threats at multiple polling locations have prompted closures and relocations today.
Attorney General Matthew Platkin says law enforcement responded to emailed threats at polling places in seven New Jersey counties and secured each location.
He says some of these polling locations have already reopened to the public, while at others, voters have been directed to a nearby polling location to cast their ballot. “Voters should continue to have confidence that they can cast their ballot without fear of intimidation, and we will continue to work tirelessly to ensure a free, fair, and secure election.

Terrifying surveillance video shows the moment the UK mass train stabbing suspect stormed into a barbershop armed with a huge knife — just one day before he allegedly carried out his bloody rampage on a London-bound train.
Anthony Williams, 32, was caught on camera pacing outside the barbershop Friday night soon after he allegedly knifed a 14-year-old boy in a separate attack, the Sun reported.
The maniac could be seen whipping out the huge blade and barging into the shop as employees and customers scrambled out of the way just before 7:30 p.m.
It wasn’t immediately clear if anyone was injured in the ordeal.

A Pennsylvania diocese has apologized for a shocking grade school Halloween parade float that displayed a replica of the Auschwitz Concentration Camp gate.
The Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg formally apologized Friday for the offensive float’s appearance during Thursday evening’s Halloween parade.
Bishop Timothy Senior said he was “shocked and appalled to learn” the float entered by the St. Joseph Catholic School in Hanover, which resembled the Auschwitz Concentration Camp gate, included the words “Arbeit Macht Frei.”
The German phrase — translating to “Work Makes You Free” — was prominently displayed at World War II-era concentration camps across Europe, including the front gate at Auschwitz, where more than 1 million people were executed

Former CIA Director John Brennan snapped at a man who confronted him for signing the infamous letter in 2020 that claimed the bombshell Hunter Biden email scandal exposed by The Post had “all the classic earmarks of a Russian information operation.”
Brennan, 70, grew visibly incensed and angrily got in the face of the man who pressed about the letter, poking him on the chest repeatedly before backing off.
“You misrepresented that,” Brennan shouted at conservative national security consultant Thomas Speciale during the tense clash.
“We never said it was disinformation; we said it was Russian influence operations, which is what they do. There’s a big difference,” he added.

Not getting off “Scott” free.
An Alabama police force playfully exacted revenge against a group of high schoolers who had covered their department headquarters — along with the rest of the town — with toilet paper as part of an elaborate senior prank.
Heflin Police Chief Ross McGlaughn vowed to get back on the Class of 2026 when the students launched their overnight TP attack across the small Alabama city.
The police department’s main building was dressed with rolls of toilet paper that covered the entrance, squad cars and the roof.
“It’s just fun,” the student leaders told CBS News on Friday. “Adrenaline rush.

A federal judge blocked President Donald Trump’s efforts to protect election integrity by requiring proof of United States citizenship on voter registration forms, finding that Trump “lacks the authority to direct such changes.”
In a decision by U.S. District Judge Collen Kollar-Kotelly on Friday, Kollar-Kotelly “sided with Democratic and civil rights groups that sued the Trump administration” after the President issued an executive order in March entitled “Preserving and Protecting the Integrity of American Elections,” according to the Associated Press.
Kollar-Kotelly, who was appointed by former President Bill Clinton, claimed in her decision that “the proof-of-citizenship directive is an unconstitutional violation of the separation of powers,”

A former U.K. Metropolitan Police Detective Constable is speaking out, warning that he was told to drop his investigation into Islamic "grooming gangs" in London or he'd lose everything, including his children.
The U.K. has tried very hard to cover up the scandal, with two survivors quitting an inquiry panel over claims Labour Party officials want the investigation to fail.[snap]
Reports of sexual assaults, grooming, and forced prostitution go back years, with authorities turning a blind eye to the issue — fearing accusations of racism —.I was told if I continued on my path. I would lose my home, my job, and my children."

I'm so hardcore right-wing that I consider Genghis Khan a sissy femboy, but I must confess my adoration for Sen. Susan Collins. You know Susan Collins? She's a Republican from Maine, which is a lot like finding leftovers in Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker's fridge. It's theoretically possible, but you never truly expect to see it actually happen.
And yet it has happened. For five six-year terms, the good people of the Maple Syrup 'n Moose State have sent this Republican off to Washington, D.C. She's now running for a sixth term, in which, next November, she'll face either Herr Obergruppendoofus Graham Platner (D-Nuremberg) or Gov. Janet Mills (D-Sunny Acres).
