John Sauer on the Trump administration's method for enacting the tariffs, which critics say infringes on the power of Congress to tax. Lower federal courts have ruled that Trump lacked the legal authority he cited under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose the so-called reciprocal tariffs on imports from many U.S. trading partners, and fentanyl tariffs on products from Canada, China and Mexico.

The California Republican Party filed a federal lawsuit Tuesday challenging the state’s new congressional district maps, alleging Democrats illegally used race as the primary factor in redrawing boundaries to favor Latino voters.

A UPS plane crashed near Louisville’s Muhammad Ali International Airport in a fiery wreck Tuesday evening, officials confirmed as a plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

Former US Vice President Dick Cheney who was a leading advocate for the invasion of Iraq has died at the age of 84, his family has said. The hard-charging conservative passed away last night due to complications of pneumonia and cardiac and vascular disease. Cheney served alongside Republican President George W Bush for two terms between 2001 and 2009. He was the chief architect of the 'war on terror' and was in office on the morning of 9/11.

The Wall Street Journal reports this morning on the aftermath of the Big Apple fight over socialism, where capital lost. Zohran Mamdani won easily last night, winning an outright majority of ballots cast by New York City voters, 50.6% as of this morning with 87% of precincts reporting. Andrew Cuomo got 41.7%, while Curtis Sliwa -- the only rational candidate still left on the ballot -- received 7.1% of the vote.
New York City has chosen socialism, and the WSJ suggests that capitalists will just have to suck it up. But is that their only option?
