Minneapolis mayor’s race goes into runoff
as no winner emerges in first round

The race for Minneapolis mayor did not conclude Tuesday night. With nearly 100 percent of precincts reporting, no candidate reached the threshold needed to be declared the winner after first choice ballots were tallied. Mayor Jacob Frey received nearly 42 percent of first choice votes. His closest challenger, state Sen. Omar Fateh, received nearly 32 percent. Minister DeWayne Davis and business owner Jazz Hampton are farther behind with 14 percent and 10 percent respectively. City officials say tabulation will continue at 9 a.m. Wednesday and into Thursday if necessary. Frey told supporters last night that he’s optimistic about his numbers.

Comments:

I'd be funny if the ranked-choice voting gave the radical Omar clone the victory.

Once again, ranked choice voting will help to ensure that the most undesirable and unqualified candidate who is not the majority first choice wins.

Tuesday wasn't the best day the Republican Party ever experienced. They lost key races in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York City, and the passage of Proposition 50 in California means that the once-Golden State will be gerrymandered to a fare-thee-well, and California's Republican congressional delegation will be pretty much extinct. A black producer laid off from CBS News this week has accused the company of racism by saying that all of his fired fellow colleagues were 'people of color.' Sherman had worked for the now-cancelled 'CBS Evening News+' since February, as well as the network's just-eliminated Race and Culture Unit. 'Every person who gets to stay and will be relocated within the company is a white person.' Sherman then recounted a meeting he said

Kamala Harris is ready for her comeback! That’s right, the candidate who has shown no particular talent for winning national presidential elections, or even achieving the nomination of her own party via democratic means, is very likely going to run again, in 2028. New Yorkers elected their first socialist mayor Tuesday, handing far-left Democrat Zohran Mamdani an historic victory — as he claimed a mandate for his potentially budget-busting progressive agenda and all but declared war on President Trump. The Associated Press and NY1 called the race for the 34-year-old Mamdani about 40 minutes after polls closed at 9 p.m., inspiring cheers from his supporters at his campaign’s Brooklyn watch party. “New York, tonight you have delivered a mandate for change, a mandate for a new kind of politics, a mandate for a city that we can afford and a mandate for a government that delivers exactly that,”

Zohran Mamdani won easily last night, winning an outright majority of ballots cast by New York City voters, 50.6% as of this morning with 87% of precincts reporting. Andrew Cuomo got 41.7%, while Curtis Sliwa -- the only rational candidate still left on the ballot -- received 7.1% of the vote. New York City elected a communist to be its next mayor on Tuesday. Uganda-born Zohran Mamdani is projected to win more than 50 percent of the Big Apple. Over the next few days, professional Republicans will shake their heads and lament the outcome of the race. But few, if any, will acknowledge the truth: Mamdani’s victory is the direct result of mass immigration. New York City wasn’t lost to a communist because the radical left out-organized the Democrat establishment. New York City was lost to a communist because we lost control of our borders — not just our southern border, but every single border separating the United States from the rest

Supreme Court justices on Wednesday morning expressed skepticism about the legality of aggressive tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump against most of the world's nations. Conservative and liberal justices sharply questioned Solicitor General D. John Sauer on the Trump administration's method for enacting the tariffs, which critics say infringes on the power of Congress to tax. Lower federal courts have ruled that Trump lacked the legal authority he cited under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act to impose the so-called reciprocal tariffs on imports from many U.S. trading partners, and fentanyl tariffs on products from Canada, China and Mexico.

Democrats dominated the first major Election Day since President Donald Trump returned to the White House. And while a debate about the future of the Democratic Party may have only just begun, there are signs that the economy — specifically, Trump’s inability to deliver the economic turnaround he promised last fall — may be a real problem for Trump’s GOP heading into next year’s higher-stakes midterm elections. Democrats on Tuesday won governor’s races in Virginia and New Jersey, the only states electing new chief executives this year. They also swept a trio of state Supreme Court contests in swing-state Pennsylvania and ballots measures from Colorado to Maine.
