It's beginning to look like the prediction Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made about the Democrats and the shutdown is right. He predicted that after the elections, we would get some movement from the Democrats to end the shutdown, because the shutdown was about juicing their base, trying to whip them up to get out to the polls. Once the elections were over, they would then try to find an off-ramp to end the shutdown and claim a victory. Surprise, surprise. Now we're hearing that Democrats are engaging with Republicans on reopening the government, according to Punchbowl.

Trump should send a letter to these two clowns demanding they go on national TV and apologize to the American people for lying about whose fault the shutdown came to be, while wearing real sombreros, seràpes, and red rubber noses. Only then will Trump let them in the WH.

I don't trust the Republicans. When Democrats are "engaging with Republicans," the Republicans often fold and compromise. The Democrats should not be given a single crumb in return for the CR!

Trump oughta say...Why Jeffries? He has no part in any of this, it passed the House on a bi-partisan basis back on sept19. Ya wanna come over here for a chat, fine, Just You and Bernie, he is the REAL leader for your side, Be here at 7am, I'll have coffee on. Have the entire cabinet, the head of OMB, whitehouse counsel, a court reporter, and Mz Leavitt all there...ahead of time, so Schumer walks in "late" to a full table with only HIM one on side, tape recorders running. Have him led in through the "Construction entrance", make sure the path is muddy. Make sure to mention...."I have manged to negotiate three global peace treaties, ending wars, and five international trade agreements, including setting across from Hamas and China...during the time YOU have been blocking this CR, that has ALREADY garnered enough bi-partisan votes to pass and get signed... that means YOU are Less interested in a deal than any of them. I remind you...YOU voted for this Bill when YOU first passed it, while Biden was still President, every dime of spending is what YOU wrote into it, minus ONLY the "Emergency subsidies'" that YOU wrote the expiration dates for, you have ONE HOUR to make your case, everything is being recorded, you try to tell ONE LIE, we will charge you with Perjury, you offer ONE INSULT I will have you dragged from the building and tossed into the mud outside"

#6, The reason that Baier looked so weak when he was interviewing Hakeem Jeffries is that I believe that Baier is a “under the table” Democrat and did not want to rock Jeffries’s political boat.

#7 has the right answer for exactly what Trump ought to do. Those two clowns have some nerve "demanding" that the President do anything. The last I checked, the President is the leader, not two corrupt minority leaders. I can think of a few other choice phrases that I would tell them too but I don't think they would pass inspection on this site.

Again it works. The democratic leaders depend on their illiterate voting bloc to get things done. They actually made these mental midgets believe republicans were responsible for the shut down to secure their votes. It worked again as they won everything in their deep blue states. And yes the govt will probably reopen very soon. Pathetic.

It hasn't even been two full days since polls closed in New York City, so the full blossoming of the Mamdani effect is far from being fully witnessed. But what the heck. Let's take a peek in on parts of Gotham and see how things going. As for Zohran Mamdani himself, it didn't take more than an hour when it became official he would be the next resident of Gracie Mansion that the Mayor-Elect gave an angry acceptance speech. There were plenty of lowlights all throughout his address, but here are just some of the bits that will cause a lot of New Yorkers to

Virginia Wild Card: Turnout Among Black Voters 5 replies

The conventional wisdom among most election analysts is that the 2025 Virginia gubernatorial contest between Republican Winsome Earle-Sears and Democrat Abigail Spanberger will be won by the latter. This consensus is primarily based on a series of polls that purport to show her ahead by comfortable margins. All such surveys, however, necessarily incorporate certain assumptions (snip) If those assumptions are inaccurate, pollsters can end up wiping a lot of egg yolk off their faces. In the Old Dominion, 45 days of early voting has produced a record-breaking turnout — except in localities where most of the electorate consists of black voters.

The ground beneath Democrats' feet is starting to shift. A government shutdown is not a strategy that works absent the media. The whole point of the exercise is to do something dramatic in order to bring attention and raise awareness of some particular issue. In this case, Democrats decided their issue would be health care. They would shut down the government to make demand Republicans extend Obamacare subsidies that are set to expire at the end of this year. For the past few weeks, that strategy has worked pretty well for Democrats for two reasons. First, the shutdown didn't really have much impact right away, especially because President Trump worked to ensure

Government shutdowns are always and everywhere about using government spending —or, really, the restriction of government spending —as political leverage. Sometimes they are used effectively, and sometimes not, but the goal is to impose pain on your negotiating partner and break their will. (Snip)Since politicians are careful to avoid feeling any of the pain directly—they consider themselves essential employees and keep the money flowing into their own pockets—the pain has to be inflicted on others, with the hope that the victims can implore their legislators to give in to demands.

It is by now blindingly obvious to any rational observer of American politics that the Democratic Party is circling the drain. Depending on which poll you believe, its favorability rating among U.S. adults is somewhere between 23 percent (CNBC) and 34 percent (CBS). Nor is it difficult to divine what has led to this dismal state of affairs — the party has lurched so far to the left that most of its iconic leaders would be regarded as too conservative to win the Democratic presidential nomination.

After thumping wins by radical Democrats — a tautology now, of course — the battle lines are clear. The president knows he has just one year until the midterms to fireproof his agenda and safeguard future elections against Democratic fraud. That’s why he wants to end the filibuster. The 60-vote Senate threshold is strangling Republican priorities and is allowing Democrats to shut down the government for the fifth week while blaming Trump. Yet too many Senate Republicans don’t know what time it is.
