AOC demands DOJ target Clarence Thomas

Far-left "Squad" member Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., is demanding the Department of Justice target Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas over his relationship with a Republican megadonor and others she claims he benefited from financially. In a Friday letter to Attorney General Merrick Garland, Ocasio-Cortez, along with four of her progressive colleagues, called for the DOJ to launch an investigation into Thomas "for consistently failing to report significant gifts he received from Harlan Crow and other billionaires for nearly two decades — in defiance of his duty under federal law."

Comments:

Maybe the AG can have David Weiss look into it after he’s done looking into Hunter Biden —around 2050 or so.

You little twit, where is your letter demanding investigation of Biden, who has monetary relationships with our adversaries, and has tried to hide it in numerous bank accounts, even involving his grandkids. Look no further than your fool of a leader, dumba**, he has done nothing but degrade this country from day one, and why...in order to line his pockets. It is no wonder why he is shutting down drilling here, because he is on the take from other oil producing countries, he is sending them our business, and killing it here. So investigate Biden, HE is our nations greatest peril. Impeach the sob. MAGA

We have all heard about contempt of court and contempt of Congress. They are offenses for which one may be fined or jailed. But what about contempt of public? What’s the penalty for that? I don’t know that you will find contempt of public in the statute books. If not I offer up the phrase free and for nothing to the bureaucrats who look after such things. I think it should be added to our vocabulary if not to our code of laws. It names a grievous assault on the community. By making a travesty of the rules and institutions that undergird our social life, contempt of public

German officials in Berlin on Sunday commemorated the 62nd anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall. Construction on the Berlin Wall first began on August 13, 1961. Communist East Germany, formally known as the German Democratic Republic (GDR), erected the 155-kilometer-long (96-mile) barrier in order to keep its citizens from fleeing into West Berlin. The GDR's border guard monitored the wall and would shoot those trying to escape. At the Chapel of Reconciliation in Berlin, the city's State Senator for Economy, Energy and Enterprise Franziska Giffey attended a memorial service along with other German officials. Giffey and the others then laid wreaths at the wall

The National Guard has been deployed to western New York after a second migrant brought there through New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ controversial resettlement program was arrested on sexual abuse charges. Erie County officials charged that a third party contracted by New York City to handle the migrant hotel operation might have obstructed local police’s investigations into the assaults, and are demanding that the Biden administration and Congress act at the federal level to properly address the crisis. At a press conference Saturday, Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz, a Democrat, said no more asylum seekers would be sent from New York City until

In the wake of last weekend's summit in Saudi Arabia where nations gathered to discuss Kyiv's plan to end the Ukraine war, Russia is cutting an ever more isolated figure on the world stage. It seems to be striking a nerve. At the summit in Jeddah representatives from 40 nations gathered to discuss Ukraine's proposals for ending the conflict. In a surprise move even Russia's staunchest international backer, China, sent a representative. A Chinese presence pointed to a growing rift between Beijing and Moscow — meanwhile Russia was not invited. In comments to The Moscow Times, four former and current Kremlin officials familiar with Russia's diplomacy were troubled.

Donald Trump Is Still the One, Despite Indictments 5 replies

Never mind the latest indictments. Or any that preceded them. Even though it came out before Donald Trump's latest plunge into the judicial process, the most recent Siena College/New York Times poll suggests two things likely outcomes: that the former president will be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee and that he's just as likely to win the general election as lose. As to the nomination, Trump is campaigning like an incumbent. His 2020 loss to Joe Biden may have looked decisive. But a shift of fewer than 50,000 votes in states like Arizona, Georgia, and Wisconsin would have put him back in the White House for a second term.

The median salary for men on Biden's staff is $105,000, while women who work for the president earn significantly less at a median salary of $84,000, according to an examination of the report.

'From what we’ve learned, we believe the Lahaina fires could have been prevented had proper safety precautions been taken,' said Gerald Singleton, a lawyer involved with the potential legal action, to the New York Times.
