Each week I resolve to try to write about some subject that does not include a reference to President Trump, but on most weeks some subject involving him is the most newsworthy story in the world. The indictment of him and others over the intrusion on January 6, 2021 at the U.S. Capitol exposes several new perspectives. It was no surprise, as it had been telegraphed months in advance.
The Democratic political strategists must have inspired themselves with Russian army tactics in mobilizing many weeks in advance ten divisions on the Ukrainian border under the direct gaze of NATO aerial reconnaissance which was shared with the whole world:

The big issue is the various bogus state charges. If necessary, when Trump is re-elected he can pardon himself on any of the federal charges. He cannot pardon himself on any of the state charges and the democrat DA's that indicted him are determined to try him before a jury of Hillary Clinton's peers and get a democrat state judge to sentence him to prison.

In a mediation, neither side gets everything it wants. Here is a mediator's proposal: In exchange for dropping all federal charges against Trump, the House wraps up all investigations of Joe and Hunter with no referrals and no impeachments. The involved committee(s) may produce written majority/minority reports. The American people get to breathe a sigh of relief and start speaking to one another again. What comes out of all of this would be decided by the voters in 2024. Is it justice? No, but it is practical and saves the nation from possible civil war. That is more than enough to be the right solution.

FTA: "The burning question to be resolved is whether the majority will conclude that the chaos that accompanies Donald Trump is unbearable, regardless of the rights and wrongs of the endless arguments that he arouses, or whether enough people who don't particularly like Trump but are not pathological, primal-scream Trump-haters, will hold their noses and join the approximately 40 percent of voters who are rock-solid Trump supporters, because their alarm and fear of the politicized corruption of the American Constitutional system is greater than their aversion to Mr. Trump."
The long sentence quoted above is a great encapsulation of our current circumstances vis-a-vis anti-Trump law fare. I'm in the camp to the right of the "or" halfway through that long sentence. Since I became aware of DJT in the 1970s, I found several things he was quoted as saying humorous but I saw nothing about him to like or admire. That said, I voted for him in 2016 and again in 2020 because my chosen party nominated him and I believed he was the least bad candidate. Today, I still have no warm regard for him and can be a bit critical of the person and his words, but I have tremendous fear for our country if the persecution of him is further tolerated (1) by our political/legal system and/or (2) by those whom I consider my normal fellow American citizens. If he wins the GOP nomination, I'll vote for him again for the same reasons and hope that by 2028, a candidate will emerge whose demeanor and politics are more in the mold of Reagan - someone capable of being the key evangelist of conservatism, while not causing liberals/progressives/independents to fantasize about chopping off his head. I hope that person is also a capable military leader, as we may need that type of leadership in fighting off literally, and not just verbally, a hostile communist take-over of our U.S.A. Communists historically aren't prone to say, "I'm sorry, you were right and we were wrong." They must be put down by main force before they can do the same to those who love freedom and liberty.

The Democrats can't afford to have a January 6 trial. Trump's defense team would call all sorts of Democrats to the stand. Additionally, a court would finally allow the airing of the many examples of voter fraud that took placed in 2020.

Trump cannot “know” he lost the election because he didn’t. It’s like hauling someone in and saying “ Name three cities you haven’t heard of or go to jail”.

As usual, a clear, correct and sensible laying out of the facts by Mr. Black. And, also as usual, well written, with some nice acerbi, witty points about scoundrels like Barr.

What will happen if trump goes to trial in DC?
He will be convicted.
Then he may face prison, if he is sent to prison the SHTF.
What should happen is that those of us who know the truth and believe in the United States and Justice, should make ourselves heard .
Forcefully.

I'm wistfully hoping that Trump's attorneys file various motions to dismiss and remove several indictment claims, that the local ultra-dem black female federal district court judge denies the motions, and Trump's attorneys are somehow able, in the interest of the health of the country's politics, obtain an expedited appeal to the SCOTUS, and that somehow, the SCOTUS articulately overrule the original refusal, throwing out many of these charges, which are not anywhere near legally or factually sound.
Special prosecutor Smith needs to be kicked to the curb.

Since the Senate Commmittee on Jan 6 destroyed the evidence, won't the charges be dismissed? On the illegally detained protestors at least. This is a real SS, that in the end really can't go anywhere. Given his past behavior, I would not expect DJT to give up in exchange for theharassment ending. I would say it will only intensify his resolve. He likes to fight!
