5 EYEWITNESS NEWS looked at city payroll records and found between 2020 and 2022, the Minneapolis Police Department had 273 officers leave their jobs.
During that same three-year time period, the city hired 117 new officers, which equates to a net loss of 156 officers and an average net loss of 52 officers over the last three years.
If that trend were to continue, MPD would have fewer than 400 sworn officers. As recent as 2019, MPD had about 900 sworn officers on its payroll.

Just do away with the police. What are they good for anyway? Minneapolis will do just fine without them. Instead put ultra-woke life councilors out on the streets.

That chief should be given the national Math Achievement award. Coincidentally, New York, Los Angeles, Portland, Boston, Baltimore, St Louis, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland, Chicago and the US Military are seeing the same results. The new basic formula is to give people a job and don't allow them to do it. Who can spot the flaw in the methodology?

You can thank Democrat policies for this desired outcome.
If you keep voting for Progressive Democrats you will get their Progressive policies and schemes.
Expect ever increasing taxes to pay for their expanding government positions, pensions and benefits. You work for them, not them for you.

If they put those criminals in prison and kept them there, then they wouldn't need so many cops.

Oh, gee. What a surprise.
Not.
Railroad officers to prison for following their training exactly, and people aren't going to want to work there.
George Floyd killed himself with an overdose of fentanyl. The officers followed their training manual exactly on how to put a person suffering from excited delerium . The Minneapolis Police field training manual showed a photo of this medically recommended position....which is precisely what the officer did, as per training, on recommendation of medical experts. Floyd was in this excited delerium , often seen in people suffering from drug overdoses.
The autopsy showed zero harm to his neck, windpipe, larynx or any associated muscles. No signs of asphyxiation were found in the autopsy. Then they started pounding on the coroner who did the autopsy, and eventually he saw that he could stand for the truth, and probably go to prison, or go along with their lies and be left alone. So, the original autopsy was....."corrected" to lies.
And to my sarcastic surprise, the officer was found guilty of murder and imprisoned.
Wrongly.
A person would have to be extremely stupid to work for the police department in Minneapolis.

Isn't Minnesota getting enough illegals? Illegals make ideal brown shirts I mean police officers. Problem solved! The left really does have a solution for everything. Problem is it always ends up in misery and death.

For a look at what’s ahead look to New Orleans. You need 1600 police officers to police this zoo I call home. Their best case scenario is there at 900 cops worst case 700, I’ll call 800. We have the woke DA and the worthless/woke mayor. New Orleans does get a lot of mutual assistance from the suburban Republican parishes but only because New Orleans Police officers have friends in the suburban departments.
Carjackings/car theft went way down. People are putting tracking devices in their cars, when stolen or carjacked the victim, his family and friends all go looking for the car. When the find it they shoot it up with everyone in it, roll the people out and leave them in the street to bleed out. Everyone involved is black so they can’t holler racists. They try not to talk about it so as not to encourage “street justice” even the DA doesn’t say much because he knows he can’t get a conviction for shooting a carjacker. It’s happening and it works.

"Predictions are hard" said Yogi. Here is one:
MPD will eventually just waive all requirements and staff the police with immigrants. They will get plenty of applicants once the jobs are made no-show with good pay and benefits.
Free guns, cars, uniforms, and no responsibility. And after a year you claim disability. That is rubber-stamped and you are set for life.

Offering big signing bonuses does not solve the problem. The better officers will work a few years then quit. The city has to be a desirable place to build a career and Minneapolis is not.

Re #15's excellent news report...I have pointed out several times that in history, when law enforcement has either not existed or been ineffective, people have taken matters into their own hands. Generally, they have proven to be effective in ridding themselves of the criminals.
Sounds like they've worked out a system in NOLA.
