Fargo Police say Officer Jake Wallin was killed in the line of duty on Friday, July 14. The 23-year-old was sworn in to the Fargo Police Department less than 3 months ago. He is a military veteran who served in Afghanistan. When sworn in, Chief Dave Zibolski says Wallin wanted nothing more than to serve in a position with purpose and meaning, and to truly make a difference in this community. (snip) Zibolski says Fargo Police officers were investigating routine traffic accident on 25th Street and 9th Avenue South when the suspect, 37-year-old Mohamed Barakat, started firing at officers.

So was this guy a refugee from some Middle Eastern hellhole that Biden welcomed in, or was he perhaps a native born African-American who changed his name and converted to the peaceful religion of Islam.

White police officer killed. I am a white guy, living hundreds of miles from Fargo, so now I'm entitled to go downtown, smash store windows and loot. Overturn and set fire to cars too. Right? Oh, and can I get an additional federal holiday, too?

If, like me, you find the presidential debate format a rather meaningless exercise, you will be astonished at what one-on-one interviews by a skilled interrogator can accomplish. At the Iowa family Leader conference, Tucker Carlson interviewed several leading contenders for president Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pence, Nikki Haley, Vivek Ramaswamy, and Ron DeSantis. If the participants thought this was going to be another tongue bath, they were certainly surprised. He asked hard questions and some of their answers exposed their muddled thinking. The supporters of former President Trump are absolutely correct about one thing. If every single Republican pledged their allegiance to him and fell in line he’d win the nomination easily. But he’d also lose the general election, again. He does not receive enough support from outside the traditional Republican and MAGA base to win in 2024. Hillary Clinton beat Trump by roughly 3 million in the popular vote in 2016. While Trump indeed did win the election by taking the required 270 electoral votes, just a few thousand votes in each of the key swing states would have changed that outcome into a Hillary Clinton landslide victory in 2016.

A federal judge in Oregon ruled on Friday that a new state gun law does not violate the US Constitution, keeping one of the toughest gun laws in the country in place. US District Court Judge Karin Immergut ruled that Ballot Measure 114’s restrictions on large-capacity magazines that hold more than 10 rounds are constitutional because these magazines are “not commonly used for self-defense, and are therefore not protected by the Second Amendment.” “Even if LCMs are protected by the Second Amendment, BM 114’s restrictions are consistent with this Nation’s history and tradition of regulating uniquely dangerous features of weapons and firearms to protect public safety,” the ruling said.
