Wednesday night, Joe Biden announced a bizarre and implausible plan to build a railroad that stretches across the entire Indian Ocean.
In remarks to the League of Conservation Voters during their Annual Capital Dinner, Biden said: “You know, soon—soon, Africa will have 1 billion people. China has their Belt and Road Initiative. It turned out to be their debt and destruction initiative. No, I’m serious. Not a joke. Well, we’re going to win, and we’re going to help.”
He added: “We have plans to build a railroad from the Pacific all the way across the Indian Ocean.
This particular survey was taken June 12-14, 2023, after Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, former New Jersey Gov. Chis Christie, and North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum jumped into the race. It also followed federal prosecutors indicting Trump.
Despite all of that, Trump’s lead has actually increased among likely Granite State Republican primary voters over the last month, jumping from 39 percent support to 44 percent support — a five point increase.
DeSantis fell six points over the last month, from 18 percent to 12 percent. This reflects an 11-point swing in Trump’s direction over the last month.

Texas Republican Rep. Dan Crenshaw tore into a Democrat witness Wednesday over her inability to cite a medical study that states the benefits of transgender surgeries for minors. Crenshaw's comments came during a House Committee on Energy and Commerce hearing when he questioned Yale School of Medicine assistant professor Meredithe McNamara about his proposal to withdraw funding from certain hospitals that provide surgeries, puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones to transgender minors.

The Air National Guardsman accused of posting a trove of classified documents to social media has been formally indicted on six counts of willful retention and transmission of classified information related to national defense, the Justice Department announced on Thursday.
Jack Teixeira, a junior enlisted airman who worked within the Massachusetts Air National Guard’s 102nd Intelligence Wing, was arrested in April and charged under the Espionage Act. He allegedly took classified information from Otis Air National Guard Base and is accused of posting the information to Discord, a popular social media platform among gamers.
Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo is set to formally endorse Democratic Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee for mayor of Houston.
Hidalgo is expected to make the official announcement at an event in Mickey Leland Memorial Park on Thursday.
The Harris County judge has a strained relationship with Jackson Lee’s main rival for the seat, State Sen. John Whitmire. The effectiveness against hospitalization plummeted to negative 8 percent for people who received one of the old COVID-19 vaccines, according to data from a CDC-run hospital network.
A dose of one of the updated bivalent vaccines moved the protection above zero, to 29 percent, but the protection fell back to negative 8 percent beyond 89 days, the data show.
The protection estimates were for adults without a compromised immune system from Jan. 23 to May 24, when the XBB strain was dominant in the United States.

The all-Muslim city council of Hamtramck, Michigan, voted unanimously on Tuesday to approve a resolution that would ban the LGBTQ+ Pride flag from being flown on the city’s public property.
The resolution, proposed by Mayor Pro-Tem Muhammad Hassan, also bars any religious, ethnic, racial, political, or sexual orientation group flags from being flown on city property and only allows the American flag to be flown, along with state and city flags, other national flags, and the Prisoner of War flag, according to Click on Detroit.
The resolution passed “after three hours of public comments and months of intense debate,” the Detroit Free Press reported.
