Miami Mayor Francis Suarez filed paperwork to run for president in 2024 Wednesday, making him Florida’s third Republican candidate along with Gov. Ron DeSantis and former President Donald Trump.
Suarez has been weighing a presidential bid for months, and made visits to several key early primary states like Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina. Miami’s 43rd mayor filed the paperwork with the Federal Election Commission ahead of his expected official announcement at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute in Simi Valley, California, Thursday.
SOS America political action committee (PAC) has already started fundraising to help draft Suarez into the GOP primary,

One more nobody to share in the 30% of the primary vote Trump doesn't get.

Really?! This is getting ridiculous. Seems the Republican Party can’t wait to lose. I get it. The establishment hates the thought of Donald Trump as the nominee. Looks like they are playing to everyone’s ego to get in the race. If their strategy is to break up the base, it’s not going to work. Honestly, at this point the GOPe have become as bad, if not worse, than the democrats. Do they want to lose? If you want to know what is driving this, go check out Tucker Carlson’s Episode 3. He clearly lays out the reason.

Me too! I may not be able to raise millions of dollars, but surely I get enough to pay my mortgage for a while and buy a new car. What a scam.

Not a chance, but a good way to collect some money.

Suarez does not have any support from me, but if the mayor of South Bend, Indiana, can run for president, that sets a precedent. Anyone can run for president, no matter how sketchy the political resume, and waste time and money doing it.

Mayor of city of Miami is largely a ceremonial post and the man voted for Biden and other Dems straight in last years...he LOOKS good, and it ends there. Date County Mayor runs the show.

I hope Trump does not appear in the Republican primary debates. If he does not, no one will watch the first day. The second day candidates, of which the Mayor may be one, if he can get 1%, doubtful, will have a viewership of near nothing. At this point, your wonderful dog could muster more votes.

Seems to me all these so-called candidates are all vying for the same five percent of the vote that's not going to Trump. They're shooting for the Kamala Harris version of the Republican party.

Excellent news for President Trump. The more candidates there are the more the non Trump support is diluted. In the 2016 state primaries Trump rarely received the majority of the votes but consistently did gain the plurality. Had there been only one, maybe two, opponents he may not have won the nomination. Trump knew that then and he knows that now.

He went big into crypto-currancy, with city money and I believe just got out before the scandals/bust. He would be a consideration to replace DeSantis when his term is up, but otherwise a "why bother" candidate. Slightly more qualified than Mayor Pete, but he does not tote the "gay" card.

This would be the mayor who refused adequate police protection for Trump’s arraignment, yes?

If the Dems have a debate, viewers will see two old white guys (one of those totally demented and the other a scandalized Kennedy who drove his wife to suicide) and a liberal loopy female. On the Republican stage are very competent people of different backgrounds who look like a composite of America. The more voices on our side speaking for freedom and capitalism, the more likely the message will get out. The more these candidates reveal their ideas and motives, the better Trump can select the members of his administration.
Recalling the 2016 primary candidates, Rick Perry made a very competent Secretary of Energy and Ben Carson a loyal and outstanding member of the cabinet. Chris Christie showed his judgment when he recommended Wray for FBI.
