Germany's far-right AfD sees poll numbers surging replies

Polls see Germany's center-left coalition government in free fall while the far-right populist AfD is reaping the benefits. It currently polls on par with Chancellor Olaf Scholz's Social Democrats. Never before have voters in Germany been this unhappy with the current coalition government: Only one in five says they are doing a good job. The center-left Social Democrats (SPD), the Greens, and the neoliberal Free Democrats (FDP) are plummeting in the polls, after only one and a half years in office. This is according to pollster infratest-dimap who surveyed 1300 eligible voters on May 30 and 31, 2023, and published the results in its monthly "Deutschlandtrend."

A recent review of court records reveals an alarming trend at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) concerning its treatment of January 6 Capitol riot defendants. Federal prosecutors have deployed a tactic of seeking to impose fines on defendants, in addition to their prison sentences with the alleged goal of preventing them from financially benefiting from their participation in the 2021 events in DC, especially in cases where the accused has received a court-appointed public defender. Attorneys for the defendants see the DOJ’s fine requests as impairing rights to legal representation. Legitimate Fundraising? "This is about the third time we've seen the President fall. He fell twice going up the steps of Air Force One once in 2021 and once earlier this year," Reiner observed.

Recent polling on transgender rights has been fairly uniform, but you won’t see that reflected in the headlines touting the surveys. “Americans’ Complex Views on Gender Identity and Transgender Issues,” read a headline from Pew Research last year. In fact, the only issue on which Americans even slightly disagree is whether transgender people should be protected from discrimination. Otherwise, 60% believe a person’s sex is assigned at birth, and even larger percentages say that trans athletes should compete against others of their birth gender. There’s nothing really “complex” about how Americans feel when it comes to transgender issues. Nor are they really “divided” as NPR reporting on the same poll claims.

The bill will raise the debt ceiling through 2025, claw back pandemic and IRS spending, improve welfare programs, speed up permitting, reinstate student loan payments, and cut non-defense discretionary spending. The bill also has an enforcement mechanism: If Congress fails to pass the required appropriations bills by January 1, overall discretionary spending will be cut by 1 percent. The legislation doesn't restore fiscal sanity to the federal budget—only changes to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid would do that—but it is a step in the right direction.

The big news this week is Elon Musk retweeted a tweet by an account called “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Press Release (parody).” The tweet said, “This might be the wine talking, but I’ve got a crush on Elon Musk.” How dare he! The parody account also tweeted, “Printing money is the only way out of inflation.” And, “If Congress would've passed my 93 trillion dollar Green New Deal, inflation would be 0.00% right now.” And, “If we don’t move to 100% green energy soon — car emissions will kill off the human race just like it did the Dinosaurs.” And, “White people are literally holding our economy hostage by owning guns.”

Staff at a Soho art gallery representing Hunter Biden’s paintings called police Thursday to investigate a possible computer hack of its financial records, The Post has learned. A source close to the Georges Berges Gallery, which has mounted shows of President Biden’s son’s art since 2021, said staff members fear that financial transactions have been hacked, after a client alerted them to a phony invoice requesting payment to an account not controlled by dealer Georges Berges. The possible hack comes days after staff discovered that the gallery’s phone number had been “compromised” by a number that had been traced to Turkey, the source told The Post.

Shortly before he hanged himself in his Manhattan jail cell, Jeffrey Epstein penned a letter from behind bars to another high-profile pedophile, Larry Nassar — but the note was never received by the disgraced US gymnastics team doctor. The shocking development was included in 4,000 pages of documents obtained Thursday by the Associated Press that also offered an updated glimpse into Epstein’s declining mental health during his 36-day stint at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan. Epstein’s unopened letter to Nassar, who spent decades sexually abusing young girls, was discovered in the mail room of the since-shuttered lockup with a “return to sender” notice weeks after his suicide

Katie Hobbs responded, calling the questions “conspiracy theories” and claiming that it is not in her jurisdiction, despite her role in the election as Secretary of State.

Thanks to a misreading of the Constitution, America is becoming more and more of a secular wasteland. All sorts of ideas and ideologies are allowed in the public square. But not Christian ones. That exclusion does not comport with what the founders of America intended.I thank God for people like Kirk Cameron, the actor and children’s author, who often presents a library presentation helping children learn about God, instead of promoting things like “drag queen story hour.” It’s become a cliché to say that it is better to light a candle than to curse the darkness. But Cameron is indeed lighting many candles in the darkness.

Edmund Burke once said, “To make us love our country, our country ought to be lovely.” No nation on earth should inspire more patriotism than the United States of America, which is why I introduced legislation last week to codify the core of President Donald Trump’s December 2020 Executive Order to make classical architecture the preferred style for all new federal buildings. My bill defines classical architecture as a host of styles, including Neoclassical, Georgian, Federal, Greek Revival, Beaux-Arts, and Art Deco. We should follow the example of presidents like Thomas Jefferson, William Howard Taft, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who all prioritized classical architecture.

Conservatives and traditionalists are often exasperated at the ongoing woke cultural revolution in their midst. How can America be turned upside down, as it is, when there is little public support for the things happening around us? They don't see much backing for the current border policy and illegal immigration, yet it continues. Conservatives feel that most Americans reject the trend of biological men dominating female sporting events. They fear American jurisprudence has become now vastly weaponized and warped. Certainly, former President Donald Trump will be more likely indicted by a politicized New York City prosecutor

Being a conservative in America has rarely, and only then for short periods of time, been an empowering experience. Most of the country and its institutions are against conservatives — the administrative state and federal bureaucracy, mainstream media, Hollywood, the music industry, sports leagues, higher education, labor unions…the list goes on and on.Every now and then, however, conservatives find themselves driving change in a way that the world can’t ignore. Such has been the case in recent weeks in response to a number of large corporations choosing to embrace and engage in transgender activism.

Left-wing nutballs have had the upper hand in America's culture wars for a long time. They are hyperaggressive and focused on pushing America in a radical direction. They push their agenda on school boards, in local and national political venues, and on many corporations. To date, resistance has been isolated to a small number of dedicated conservative activists. Most Americans just want to get along whenever possible, not fight about sensitive social issues if they can help it and, most of all, not be mean to people. That's a laudable attitude in general, but when up against radical, ideologically driven opponents, oftentimes you have to push back. If you don't,

DeSantis did a worse job on COVID than New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo! DeSantis’ attack on Disney “is all so unnecessary, a political STUNT!” In one recent post, Trump said that “I strongly defended and backed Ethanol, Ron ‘DeSaster’ has ALWAYS been strongly against Ethanol,

Bruce Springsteen had a moment that fans, bandmates and promoters dread when, during a concert in Amsterdam last Saturday (May 27), the rock legend had an on-stage fall. The accident happened mid-performance, as the 73-year-old artist returned from a stint in the pit and tripped up the stairs while carrying his electric guitar. Springsteen appeared to have a soft landing, as members of the E Street Band rushed over to check on him and help the Boss to his feet. “Goodnight everybody,” he yelled to the audience, as he gingerly made his way back to the center stage. Thankfully, it wasn’t the end of the show. The incident happened
