A sarcastic former President Donald Trump mocked Nikki Haley's entry into the 2024 presidential field by highlighting her poll numbers in a Wednesday post on his Truth social.
'She's polling at 1%, not a bad start!!' Trump remarked.
The ex-president also pointed to comments Haley made in 2021, when she said she would not run for president against him.
'Nikki Haley had a hard time making the decision to run for President because she very publicly stated that she "would never run against the President. He did a GREAT JOB, and was the best President in my lifetime,"' Trump recalled.
He added, 'I told Nikki to follow her heart, not her ambition or belief.'

Rail company Norfolk Southern ran scared of a town hall meeting in East Palestine tonight because officials 'were afraid for their safety' following the chemical train derailment disaster.
Representatives were due to attend to help explain what happened and how they could repair the devastation - and soothe fears of potential long term health problems including cancer.
But the town's mayor Trent Conaway revealed just before the packed meeting at the local high school: 'The people want answers. I want answers.

Under political pressure from Democrats as well as Republicans, President Joe Biden is considering giving a speech in the coming days to address the Chinese spy balloon and the three other shot-down objects, two senior administration officials confirmed ABC News on Wednesday.
The White House is eying the days before Biden departs for his trip to Poland for the potential balloon remarks. He is scheduled to depart for that trip, during which he'll mark the one-year anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, on Monday, Feb. 20. The deliberations over the speech were first reported by Reuters.

The FBI searched the University of Delaware twice in recent weeks for documents related to the investigation into President Joe Biden's mishandling of classified documents.
A source familiar with the investigation told CNN that agents and investigations carried out two searches on two separate days at the college in Biden's home state.
Two separate batches of materials retrieved from the university were taken from at least two different locations at the school and are now being reviewed by the FBI.
The search comes after it was revealed last month that at least 16 documents with classified markings were found at Biden's Washington, D.C. think tank and his home in Wilmington, Delaware.

On Friday, the U.S. Supreme Court (SCOTUS) will consider for a second time whether to hear Raland J. Brunson v. Alma S. Adams, a case that alleges Congress had a duty to investigate claims of fraud and impropriety in the 2020 national election, and that member votes against doing so amounted to treason. While some of the reasoning and suggested remedies in the complaint seem hyperbolic, it is aimed at accountability for those in leadership positions who are derelict in their duty to protect the American electoral system from manipulation.

On Tuesday, Biden falsely claimed that inflation, including food prices, is on the mend. However, the inflation report revealed that prices increased during January.

However, the price of grocery store items rose 0.5 percent since the beginning of the year. Over the past 12 months, food prices went up 10.1 percent.

Today’s story has elements of both and it even involves the Federal Bureau of Investigation, potentially adding another dark mark to the FBI’s record. It’s being alleged that the municipal government

In his doomsday address, the U.N.’s alarmist-in-chief declared that the danger “is especially acute for nearly 900 million people who live in coastal zones at low elevations — that’s one out of ten people on Earth.”
“Low-lying communities and entire countries could disappear forever,” Guterres asserted. “We would witness a mass exodus of entire populations on a biblical scale.”
“Rising seas are sinking futures,” Guterres intoned with hyperbolic flourish.

Forget “America First” for a moment. Put MAGA aside. Any effort to restore American greatness without putting the children first will fail.
If there was any doubt that kids suffer when their own needs are subjugated to the fears and desires of adults, the Covid experience should have cast it out. For years, children en masse were put on the bottom of the priority list. Children are falling behind in education and key developmental milestones, mood disorders and loneliness are up, and suicide ideation has risen dramatically (including during the Covid era). Families are more broken and dysfunctional than in previous decades, and nearly 400,000 children are in foster care.

There's been a lot of talk among Republicans about the effect a big primary field might have on the 2024 presidential nomination race. The short version is that a big field is thought to benefit former President Donald Trump, who, as in 2016, would not have to win a majority of votes to win — a plurality, and not even a big one, would be enough. On the other hand, a small field, especially a one-on-one matchup with another candidate, say Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL), might allow the challenger to defeat Trump.
Given that, there are Republican activists in the early voting states who are trying to keep the field small.

On Tuesday, White House spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre claimed President Biden is the "the best communicator" in the White House," sparking laughter across Twitter. After being questioned by a reporter about whether Biden is viewed by his team as "equally adept in all settings in terms of communications," Jean-Pierre insisted that the president's communication skills are the best in his administration.
Many on Twitter balked at Jean-Pierre's statement. Biden has a long history of being lampooned for his word flubs and sometimes incomprehensible speech at public events.

There were two things that I missed during Sunday’s Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles.
The first was Kansas City’s game-winning drive, which saw kicker Harrison Butker seal the underdog Chiefs’ 38-35 victory with a last-second field goal. My inattention was unintentional; my daughter, in the throes of a stomach flu that’s currently working its way through the family, decided to decorate our floor as the game came down to the wire. Que sera sera.
The second was pop star Rihanna’s halftime show — or at least the audio portion. This was wholly intentional, since I’ve heard Rihanna’s music before

Democratic Rep. Angie Craig, D-Minn., is calling for serious action against the rising crime crisis and for prosecution of repeat offenses after she was reportedly assaulted by a man who had a rap sheet full of violent crimes. "I got attacked by someone who the District of Columbia has not prosecuted fully over the course of almost a decade, over the course of 12 assaults before mine that morning," Craig told CBS News in an interview. "And so I think we have to think about how in the world can we make sure that we’re not just letting criminals out."

If you read my articles, you know I’m a former NYC liberal. Next year will be my 10-year anniversary since I first voted for a Republican in the 2004 George Bush vs. John “looks like a talking apple tree from the Wizard of Oz” Kerry election.
Someone recently asked me whether I would ever go back to voting for Democrats. Let me ask my Magic 8-ball.
My Magic 8-ball says, “KDJ will not vote for the people who want him to engage in carnal knowledge with a man, even if the dude is wearing a dress.”
My Magic 8-ball is wise.

Almost exactly two years ago today, the New York Times ran an article headlined: “Biden and Fed Leave 1970s Inflation Fears Behind.”
That story has not aged well. Neither have the troika of ideologues and imbeciles behind the rebirth of ‘70s-era inflation.
On Tuesday, the Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that prices climbed 0.5% in January, which is up from December’s 0.1% hike. Prices were up 6.4% over the year before, which is higher than economists had been predicting and comes amid warnings that inflationary pressures are building again.
This all comes one week after President Biden reassured the nation that “here at home, inflation is coming down.”

Eight guys who have done OK in life at a cigar shop in Miami. (Snip) As we are there, I ask people what they do for a living.
“Real estate investing,” “Private equity,” “Sales.” No one worked on planes, trains, or automobiles. Therein lies the problem.
We live in two worlds, the real and fake ones.
Money is fake. Or socially constructed if that’s how you prefer it. We’ve all agreed that these pieces of paper matter. Our agreement is strong enough that without money, you will die.
Malaria is real. It will kill you. This isn’t something we have to all agree on. Reality exists outside of our consciousness.

Public schools are failing all over the country. States like Illinois and Maryland have barely any students performing at grade level.
Schools seem more concerned with pushing woke garbage about ‘equity’ than teaching basic skills.
Despite all of these problems, far left crank Bernie Sanders is demanding more money for teachers. He wants a minimum salary of 60K for all teachers.
The Hill reports: Sanders calls for minimum salary of $60,000 for public school teachers

Since President Trump left office, many of the “trustworthy” media outlets have created a talking point that is now held by a minority, yet noticeable number of Conservative Americans. The belief is “DeSantis is Trump, without the baggage.” This group supported President Trump’s policies and felt he did a tremendous job as president, but now feel the baggage that came with Trump would not be present with Ron DeSantis. Many have taken this a step further and believe this baggage would give DeSantis (or others) a better chance of winning in a general election against the Democrat nominee than President Trump.

A 17-year-old high school senior created a system that tracks the annual flight emissions of some the wealthiest people in the world - laying bare the substantial carbon footprint of stars ranging from Kim Kardashian to Rupert Murdoch.
Math-loving Seattle resident Akash Shendure began the exhaustive effort just a few months ago, and has since amassed a list of more than 150 ultrarich people and their families, ranked by the estimated emissions they generate by flying privately.
Recognizable names topping the list include media magnate Rupert Murdoch and former Secretary of Education Betsy Devos,

The term “Judeo-Christian values” is frequently used.
I am one who uses it.
I do so for the same reason the late great British prime minister Margaret Thatcher did. “The truths of the Judaic-Christian tradition,” she said, “are infinitely precious, not only, as I believe, because they are true, but also because they provide the moral impulse which alone can lead to that peace, in the true meaning of the word, for which we all long . . . There is little hope for democracy if the hearts of men and women in democratic societies cannot be touched by a call to something greater than themselves.”

Senators were given a closed-door briefing on Tuesday on the three “objects” that were shot down over the U.S. and Canada over the weekend.
While many of the Senators were limited in what they could say because the meeting was classified, senators on both sides of the aisle said that the Biden team should make the information known to the American people. Both sides called for more transparency from the Biden team.
“There is a lot of information presented to us this morning that could be told to the American people without any harm to sources or methods or national security,” Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) said.

Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine took to the podium on Tuesday to update reporters and citizens about the devastating train derailment in E. Palestine, Ohio, on February 3. The small town has been reeling in the wake of the derailment and subsequent controlled burn of dangerous chemicals days after the wreck. One of the most astounding revelations from the press conference (watch below) was that the train was not classified as carrying hazardous chemicals.
“I learned today from the PUCO [Public Utilities Council of Ohio] that this train was not considered a high hazardous material train,” DeWine said. As a result, the railroad was not required to notify anyone in Ohio

U.S. intelligence officials were tracking the spy balloon that was shot down earlier this month since it lifted off from the south coast of China, U.S. officials said Tuesday.
According to U.S. officials, after takeoff, the spy balloon drifted east in the direction of Guam and Hawaii and then went north to Alaska and entered U.S. airspace on Jan. 28. Given the path, it's possible that the balloon was blown off course by weather, but U.S. officials said that once it came south over the continental United States, it was being controlled by China.
The tracking of the balloon was first reported by The Washington Post. China has insisted
