Sam Bankman-Fried's family reportedly called his Bahamian jail to request special vegan meals for him.
The disgraced 'crypto king' was charged this week with multiple financial crimes following the shock collapse of FTX and its partner Alameda Research. On Tuesday, he was denied $250,000 cash bail and an ankle monitor and is currently residing in the Fox Hill jail. But he is reportedly being kept on the hospital wing and away from the general population inmates. SBF's attorneys previously argued his vegan diet is a reason he should be released as he awaits his February 8 extradition hearing.
They also asked the court to consider his daily medications, which include

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reportedly removed statistics on defensive gun use in the U.S. following pressure from gun control advocates. The stats sourced from a CDC-commissioned study finding that instances of defensive gun use occur between 60,000 and 2.5 million times per year. References to that study were deleted from the site following private meetings with gun control advocates in 2021, emails obtained and published by The Reload show.

Forty-one House Democrats filed a bill on Thursday to bar former President Donald Trump from running for president in 2024, citing section 3 of the 14th Amendment.
“Donald Trump very clearly engaged in an insurrection on January 6, 2021 with the intention of overturning the lawful and fair results of the 2020 election. You don’t get to lead a government you tried to destroy,” Rep. David Cicilline (D-RI) wrote in a press release:
Even Mitch McConnell admits that Trump bears responsibility, saying on the Senate floor that ‘[t]here’s no question, none, that President Trump is practically and morally responsible for provoking the events of the day.’

Former National Economic Council director Larry Summers said Thursday on MSNBC’s “Andre a Mitchell Reports” that the U.S. economy will have a recession.
Summer said, “I think the market is expecting, and I think that the market is probably right that inflation will come down from its current levels. There is still a question of whether it will stay down and how much we have to do to make sure that it stays down, I think it’s still a question. And whether it can be brought down to stay down without a recession is a very large question.”

Two antithetical billionaires
Before the midterm November elections, Sam Bankman-Fried was a left-wing billionaire heartthrob.
He properly grew up on the Stanford campus, where his parents were well-known left-wing activist law professors. He went to a tony prep school and on to MIT.
Bankman-Fried mocked society's bourgeois capitalist conventions by dressing and looking like a slob in cut-offs and T-shirts.
Indeed, he bested the nose-ring, Charles Manson-esque appearance of former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey. He outdid the all-black, Steve Jobs copy-cat get-up of another fallen leftist icon, the now-convicted felon Elizabeth Holmes of Theranos infamy.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters Thursday that President Joe Biden “has done the work” to secure the southern U.S. border, even as rising numbers of migrants continue to surge across it.
Jean-Pierre was answering a question in the White House briefing room about the imminent end of Title 42, the rule that allows U.S. authorities to turn away migrants due to the pandemic emergency. It is one of the only enforcement tools that the Biden administration has retained, after President Biden issued a slew of executive orders upon taking office that rescinded President Donald Trump’s policies, including the border wall project.

Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) introduced a bill Wednesday that would prohibit Washington, DC, from using federal funds to allow foreign nationals to vote in the city’s elections after the D.C. City Council approved a plan to permit such voting.
Roy’s bill, the House version of a bill introduced by fellow Texan Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), would require D.C. to certify that it does not allow those who are not American citizens to vote before the city could apply for or receive any federal funding, according to a copy of the bill’s text obtained by Breitbart News.
In a statement, Roy characterized the D.C. council’s measure as “insane and reckless.”

Some border cities have already been flooded. The Biden administration has pushed Congress to pass a federal budget that will help handle the influx.

When asked who they believe the presidential nominee should be, provided with Trump, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former Vice President Mike Pence, or “someone else,” 45 percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning independents chose Trump.
DeSantis, whom many speculate will toss his hat in the ring in 2024, followed 12 points behind, garnering 33 percent support.

OK, I get that. The person feels that he/her/it/they does (do?) not fit neatly into the anachronistic gender labels developed over about two million years of human history and prehistory as interpreted by science, medicine, genetics, sociology, biology, logic, anthropology and biochemistry promulgated by dead white European men – and dead men and women of color on the rest of the planet – consistent with the male/female dichotomy in the animal world.

Imagine if Donald Trump had released this as his “major announcement” rather than his NFT trading cards. Or at least before his attempt to fundraise off of MAGA on social media. This might not qualify as a “major announcement,” but at least it would have been taken much more seriously.
Instead, the Trump campaign didn’t even “announce” this. They gave it as an exclusive to Jack Posobiec a couple of hours after Trump’s NFT launch on Truth Social. The strategic fumble is unfortunate, as this actually addresses real issues in play rather than just Trump’s compulsion for self-promotion:

Well, they’re desperate enough to actually be talking about Pete Bugttigieg as a potential 2024 nominee and corporate media is fluffing up the theory. Politico featured a “West Wing playbook” article yesterday describing the Transportation Secretary’s “campaign in waiting.” In it, they describe how various dark money groups are keeping a stream of donations coming in with the theme, “Win the Era.” This funding infrastructure has allegedly allowed Mayor Pete to “maintain a political footprint” and keep his options open while not broadcasting his loftier ambitions.

Don’t worry. Your level of preparation is irrelevant. President Biden is prepared to do so, and that is all that matters. Your opinion counts as much as a wart on a gnats ass in such matters.
Biden held a U.S./Africa summit, and he decided that this was a fine time to shower the continent with some good ol’ American dollars. Because the history of foreign aid investments in Africa has been one of unlimited success, it apparently it’s time to pour more good money after bad.

Yes, the headline isn’t really fair to Thom Tillis, the North Carolina Republican senator who wasn’t on the ballot in last month’s midterms. You’ll forgive the unfairness, perhaps.
But life isn’t fair. And honestly, Tillis’ lame-duck-session amnesty gambit is deserving of much worse than the headline above. Here’s Stephen Kruiser at PJ Media:
One of the more frustrating aspects of being a conservative Republican is the constant need to look over one’s shoulder for stealth attacks by moderate squish members of the GOP on important issues like health care, gun control, and amnesty for illegal immigrants. Such ideological shivs in the back always arrive under the execrable guise of bipartisanship.

“That was the roughest 10-15 minutes I ever spent,” said one pilot. A squadron of B-24s had flown in one of the first days of Operation Argument. It had been a success. If the Federal government lied about their censorship, what other election initiatives are they lying about?
Let’s look at their program created to gain access to local election data.
Around 2011 DHS created their own intrusion detection system called the ALBERT Sensor. It’s part of the larger Einstein System that protects federal agencies from cyber risks. ALBERT is a “black box” server installed on a County’s network. It collects the traffic flowing on their election network and transmits this data to a nonprofit in NY. DHS selected this non-profit to monitor all the election data from across the United Sates.

After outcry from conservatives and Republican lawmakers who weren't willing to betray the GOP's commitment to the rule of law, legal immigration, and border security, an attempt to grant mass amnesty to DACA beneficiaries is, according to reporting on Wednesday night, dead. Unsurprisingly, the fatally flawed legislative framework that was supposed to gin up support on both sides of the political aisle in the U.S. Senate did exactly the opposite as Republicans who limped across the midterm election finish line with barely a majority in the House and a loss in the Senate were not ready to hitch their names to a bill that was toxic among Republican voters.

Mark Zuckerberg’s Facebook is ending a policy that allowed illegal immigrants to use the platform to seek people smugglers to ferry them across the U.S. border, admitting that much of the activity is tantamount to “human exploitation” and “overlaps” with human trafficking.
Breitbart News reported on Facebook ads for people smuggling in 2017, with gangs using the platform to advertise a variety of services to transport people to Europe and the United States. As Breitbart News reported in 2021, the Gulf Cartel in Mexico currently profits more from human smuggling than it does from drugs.

Sixth graders in Oregon have been asked to fill out a state health survey and define their gender and sexuality - with 12 options that include 'demiboy,' 'demigirl' and 'agender.'
The survey, launched in 2020 and issued every two years, has recently been sent to young people across the state, with different versions for 6th, 8th and 11th graders.
The 6th grade children, aged 11 and 12, are asked in question 13 of 76 whether they would define themselves as a girl or a boy.
Other options include 'demiboy' and 'demigirl,' nonbinary, gender fluid, or 'agender.'

The Republican Party theoretically sits in a position of strength on government funding thanks to winning control of the House last month. But one man stands in the way of exercising this new-found leverage: Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell.
The logical move by Republicans is to unite on a short-term funding bill for a few months. This gives the Republican House next year an opportunity to rein in the Biden Regime’s profligate spending which has driven up inflation and the deficit.

Washington — The Justice Department has filed a lawsuit against the state of Arizona and its top officials over the installation of hundreds of double-stacked shipping containers along the state's border with Mexico, further escalating the fight between GOP Gov. Doug Ducey and the Biden administration over border enforcement.
Filed in U.S. District Court in Arizona, the suit alleges the state, acting pursuant to an executive order from Ducey, has trespassed on lands owned and managed by the federal government without securing the required permits or authorization. Federal prosecutors argued the multi-ton shipping containers damage federal lands, threaten public safety and impede federal law enforcement's ability to perform their duties.

Under new owner Elon Musk, Twitter has banned the Twitter accounts of one University of Central Florida student, including one account that was using publicly accessible information to track Musk’s private jet flights in real time.
Late Wednesday, Musk threatened legal action against Jack Sweeney and “organizations who supported harm to my family.” Musk said a stalker followed and blocked a car carrying his two-year-old son, “Lil X,” in Los Angeles, thinking the occupant was him. The assailant climbed onto the hood, Musk tweeted.
Once offered $5,000 by Musk to take down his account, Sweeney may find himself opposite the billionaire in court.

I wrote on Wednesday about a person who was allegedly trying to stalk Elon Musk and his family. According to Musk, the person blocked his family’s car, thinking Elon was in it, and climbed on the hood of the car. Musk’s toddler son was in the car. But it turns out that Musk’s people managed to turn the tables on the stalker. They not only got a great video of the inside of the alleged stalker’s car, but they also got a license plate. Musk is sharing that on Twitter, asking people if they can identify the guy. You may notice something about the way the man is dressed.

Former television host Jemele Hill released her memoir last month titled “Uphill.” The book explores Hill’s self-purported journey in overcoming racism in America and she spent significant time promoting her new work across various networks. The New York Times published more than one fawning review to condone her bravery.
Hill told Deadspin she hoped the memoir would propel her to “a best-selling author,” a feat she was confident she’d reach.

Americans love to cleave to cultural traditions that have stood the test of time — especially ones that tell stories of the people who formed their communities, stories that reflect the craftsmanship, sacrifice and hard work of those who came before us.
When inventor and master tinkerer Joshua Lionel Cowen designed an electric fan operated by dry cells—and then, using the same motor that drove the fan, built a miniature railroad car—he began a business and a movement that has enthralled millions of people young and old. Hobbyists not only bought trains and track, but also often created elaborate homemade displays enjoyed by family and friends over the Christmas holidays.

In a so-called “documentary” from daughter Alexandra Pelosi, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi asked a question many Americans have likely answered under their breath or in the privacy of their living room while watching the news or various political events — like the State of the Union.
“Am I a b****?” asked the 82-year-old Democrat, during a call with then-Vice President Mike Pence.
The question was part of a scene in a glowing film Alexandra is making of her mother, “Pelosi in the House,” according to footage reviewed by Politico Playbook — the film aired Tuesday night on HBO.
Talk about bias, Politico may have tipped its hand a bit while setting the scene:

The FBI’s coordination with social media companies ahead of the 2020 presidential election, revealed in Elon Musk’s “Twitter Files,” is galvanizing long-held suspicions that the FBI ran defense for then-candidate Joseph R. Biden as his links to son Hunter Biden’s potentially illegal business schemes emerged.
Mr. Musk’s steady drip of internal documents has exposed the extent to which the FBI worked with company executives to moderate content on the platform. It included weekly meetings with Twitter executives before the company suppressed the New York Post’s October 2020 report exposing emails found on Hunter Biden’s now-infamous laptop computer.

I’m trying to ponder what could be driving this story that most American simply couldn’t care less about. My only explanation is that because the 2022 midterms weren’t an electoral red wedding for Democrats, the party thinks they won, which isn’t necessarily an incorrect take, but that also doesn’t mean the top concerns for liberals are what most people fixate on daily.
That’s an overreach. Case in point, the latest January 6 development doesn’t pass the smell test. We’re learning about this lone intelligence analyst now. Yahoo! News has the scoop, where a young intelligence officer at the Department of Homeland Security stumbled upon multiple threads

For years now, Leftists have waved away freedom of speech concerns over Big Tech’s censorship of voices that dissent from the Left’s agenda. Twitter, Facebook, Google and the rest are all private companies, you see, and so they can set any speech policies they want. Now that Elon Musk has bought Twitter, that argument has been consigned to the dustbin of history, as it might suggest that Musk is free to restore the freedom of speech on his platform. But evidence is piling up that the FBI was actively involved in getting pre-Musk Twitter to censor patriots, and it may be that the bureau really did violate the First Amendment

The Republicans won the House during the midterms and perhaps one of the most important results of that is that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) will no longer be the Speaker when the new Congress is sworn in, in January.
Pelosi was long past her prime (if she was ever in it) some years back and it’s been a horror show not just to deal with the horrible policies that she was willing to sign aboard, but all of her other issues as well. If I had to hear her lie and say one more time, “It’s for the children,” I think I would have screamed.

I wrote on Tuesday about how Kamala Harris spoke to young African leaders at the U.S. Africa Summit.
She tried to sound profound but it lost something in the translation as it was the same remarks, complete with the same hand motions, that she’s pulled out many times in the past. So if the leaders thought that they were getting some special praise (if they could even figure out what she was saying), they would have been sadly mistaken.
But Wednesday was Joe Biden’s turn. He spoke during another part of the Summit, the U.S. Africa Business Forum. To say it didn’t go well would probably be an understatement.
